Sun flower plant

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to the chairperson, honorable judges,


precise time keepers, teachers, all my fellow contestants and friends. Hello. My name is
_________

Do you know, there are thousands of different plants in the world? How many types
of plants can you think of? There are trees, bushes, vegetables, flower plants, grasses and
many more. Though they are different, but they have several characters in common.

Today I am going to tell you about me; story of a sun flower plant. Do you know how I
born? My life started from a seed. When there are sufficient water, air and suitable
temperature, the seed will germinate. The shoot and the root will start to grow. The shoot
will move upward to get sunlight meanwhile the root will grow downward to find water. The
seed contains food which supplies energy and materials for the growth of the seedling.

Please have a look at my root. Root is a very important part of a plant. Why? Yes, it
is because, it absorbs water and nutrients that plants need to grow. They also can store
food such as carrot and potato. Roots are also essential to support the plants.

Look at my body. Do you know how they name the body of a plant? They call it as
stem. The structure of a stem is like a straw which is made up of little tubes. These tubes
transport the water and nutrients from the root to the other parts of my body. It helps
me to stay healthy and live longer. The stem also holds the leaves and flowers.

Teachers and friends, I also have green leaves. They are in oval shape. Leaves are
very essential for me to make my own food by photosynthesis. Photosynthesis? Do you
know what photosynthesis is? Let me explain to you.
Green plants have chlorophyll in their leaves. Chlorophyll changes carbon dioxide and water
into food with the energy from sunlight. Actually we are producing food for humans and
animals. Without us humans and animals are unable to survive.

My dear floor members please look at my beautiful face. I have big, bright yellow
flowers. My flowers are consisting of many yellow petals and seeds. Friends, can you guess
why people call me SUNFLOWER? Is not my face similar to Sun? Yes, my flowers are
exactly like the Sun. I am also special from other plants because I can turn on my stem to
follow the Sun throughout the day.

I am very useful to humans and animals. My seeds can be used to make birds’ food,
snacks, cooking oil and medicine. The oil is also used as biodiesel
fuels. People use me to clean toxins from environment too.

Dear teachers and friens, I would like to sing a song for you. Are you ready to listen?

Well friends, I am sure that all of us know that plants are important because they
are the source of food and oxygen to us. They become home for wildlife and maintain the
world’s temperature. So, let’s appreciate the nature. Avoid pollution and illegal logging.

Yang dihormati Tuan Pengerusi Majlis, para hakim yang arif serta
bijaksana,Penjaga detik yang patuh pada waktu serta guru-guru dan rakan-rakan
yang saya kasihi.Pada pagi ini, saya ingin menyampaikan sebuah cerita yang
bertajuk ‘Kisah hidup pokok bunga matahari’.

Hai kawan-kawan.Saya pokok bunga matahari.Adakah anda tahu, ada


ribuan tumbuhan yang berbeza di dunia? Walaupun mereka berbeza, tetapi
mereka mempunyai beberapa kriteria yang sama. Hari ini saya ingin bercerita
mengenai diri saya.

Kawan-kawan,sila lihat muka cantik saya. Saya mempunyai bunga kuning


yang besar dan terang. Bunga saya terdiri daripada kelopak dan biji
kuning.Bolehkah anda meneka mengapa orang memanggil saya bunga
matahari? Bukankah muka saya sama dengan matahari?Saya juga istimewa dari
tumbuhan lain kerana saya mengikuti ke arah mana pun matahari
memancarkan cahayanya.

Adakah anda tahu bagaimana saya dilahirkan? Hidup saya bermula dari
benih. Apabila terdapat air yang mencukupi, udara dan suhu yang sesuai, benih
akan bercambah. Pucuk dan akar akan mula berkembang. Pucuk akan bergerak
ke atas untuk mendapatkan cahaya matahari.

Sila lihat pada akar saya.Akar saya akan tumbuh ke bawah untuk menyerap
air dan nutrien. Akar juga boleh menyimpan makanan seperti lobak merah dan
kentang. Akar juga penting untuk menyokong tumbuhan.Manakala benih
mengandungi makanan yang membekalkan tenaga dan bahan untuk
pertumbuhan anak benih.

Lihatlah batang saya.Tahukah anda batang saya boleh tumbuh setinggi 3


meter?Batang saya mengangkut air dan nutrien dari akar ke bahagian lain
badan saya. Ia membantu saya untuk kekal sihat dan hidup lebih lama. Batang
saya juga memegang daun dan bunga.

Kawan-kawan,saya juga mempunyai daun hijau. Mereka berbentuk bujur.


Daun sangat penting bagi saya untuk membuat makanan saya sendiri melalui
fotosintesis. Fotosintesis? Adakah anda tahu apa itu fotosintesis? Biar saya
terangkan kepada anda.Tumbuhan hijau mempunyai klorofil dalam daun
mereka.Klorofil menukar karbon dioksida dan air menjadi makanan dengan
tenaga dari cahaya matahari.
Kawan-kawan, Saya amat berguna kepada manusia dan haiwan.Biji saya
boleh digunakan untuk membuat makanan burung, makanan ringan,ubat dan
minyak masak. Minyak ini juga digunakan sebagai bahan bakar biodiesel.
Manusia juga menggunakan saya untuk membersihkan toksin dari alam sekitar .

Baik kawan-kawan,saya yakin bahawa anda semua tahu bahawa tumbuhan


adalah penting kerana mereka adalah sumber makanan dan oksigen kepada
manusia dan haiwan.Tumbuhan juga menjadi rumah untuk hidupan liar dan
mengekalkan suhu dunia. Jadi, mari kita menghargai sifatnya. Elakkan
pencemaran dan pembalakan haram.
