Secret Master 4 th degree

HISTORICAL RITUAL SUMMARY

A meeting is held in the Temple, it is presided over by the king
Solomon. The work of the Temple is not finished; in
particular, the Holy of Holies, whose development had been
entrusted to Hiram Abi, remains unfinished. Solomon entrusts the work to
a commission of seven Masters.

Adoniram, son of Abda, one of the stewards of the tributes collected by

Solomon, has already been designated, as well as five other Masters
Masons.

The neophyte will be the seventh, the Secret Masters have the rank of
Levite, one of whose missions is to guard the sacred vessels, in
awaiting the consecration of the Temple, the Lodge in which the
neophyte is received is that of the Sarim or Princes of Israel.

The meeting is held after the death of Hiram Abi, before the
discovery of the murderers.

Adoniram who was chief of the Levites and of the tributes is named
Supervisor, Head of Works.

Azariah son of Nathan, who commanded the seven Princes

replaces Adoniram, as Chief of the tributes.

Jehosaphat, replaces Azariah to command the seven Princes.

Jeroboam is created Prince of Israel and Superintendent of Works,

replacing Jehoshaphat.

The recipient is elevated to this title and becomes one of the seven Masters
Secrets. Adoniram is a Hebrew name which means Great Master
or Lord par excellence. This name should not be
confused with Adonhiram, which means "Hiram devoted to
Lord" or the "divine Hiram". In Hebrew, Adon means
Lord,

Location: The Lodge is separated into two parts by a balustrade of one

side the Holy of Holies where King Solomon sits, on the other side the
Saint where the candidate will be received.

Decoration: The drapes are black, dotted with tears

white. The Lodge is illuminated by 81 lights placed on 9
9 branch candlesticks. (Variation: 3 candlesticks with three
branches).

At the bottom of the box: a large circle in which is inscribed a

triangle in the center a Blazing star

Officers: President: he represents King Solomon in the East,

in the Holy of Holies.

Title: Thrice Powerful. The Thrice Mighty holds a scepter

in hand ; before him on a triangular altar: a mallet garnished
of black cloth, a laurel and olive wreath and a sword.

Supervisor: there is only one supervisor; he sits in the West

he represents Adoniram and bears the title of Inspector.

Clothing: The Three-times-Mighty wears a blue cord in

saltire, at the bottom of which is a gold triangle; or a big one
cord of the same color, passing from right to left, to which is
also suspended the golden triangle. Masters wear a ribbon
white, black or crimson border, in necklace, from which hangs the key
of ivory, jewel of the Scottish fourth degree. White apron, bib
blue, tied with green cords; on the mudflap is painted or
embroidered a circle in gold, and, according to some rituals, a Veil.

Reception of the Candidate: The candidate is received in a room

of preparation. He is asked about the first three grades (or
educated on the first three grades of the AASR). A bracket
of silver is placed on her forehead and her head is covered with a veil
black, a rope is passed around the neck (or around the arms), we
hands him a lighted lantern which he carries in his left hand, after
entering the temple, an officiant closes the lips of the
recipient by the seal of secrecy and places the index and middle fingers
with the right hand on the lips.

The neophyte completes four journeys during which he listens

comments relating to his homework, he thus learns that he is
"he who seeks the lost Word", the veil and the cord are
removed, the neophyte takes the oath. He is wearing a crown
of laurel and olive, emblems of victory and triumph, it

girds the apron, passes around the neck the cord of the rank, he learns that he
is and remains separated from the Holy of Holies by a balustrade, the words,
signs and touches are communicated to him. The neophyte
thus becomes one of the seven Secret Masters of the Lodge.

Ziza (or resplendens) is the name of the son of Jonathan, son of sons
of Onan.

Sacred Words:
First word: lod Letter which, being taken cabalistically, signifies
 
God, principle, unity.

Second word: Adonai (Hebrew Deus).

These words whose initial is the same are taken from the decomposition
cabalistics of the word Jehovah which, being combined of several
ways, always give one of the names of God. The only initial
even sufficed to express this ineffable name, we have come to

The Levites, by the noise they were making at that moment,

which the deity was known, one of them is engraved on the Delta
which forms the jewel of the Master and this name, as well as that which
sits within the circle hanging in the East, represents the Sublime
Architect of the Worlds.

Its three sides are: Wisdom - Strength - Beauty or Wisdom -

Power - Harmony.

SETTING UP THE TEMPLE

The temple is decorated with black hangings strewn with tears
white. Behind the Throne, in full view, a large circle in
which is inscribed a Sacred Triangle in the center of which is the Star
flamboyant. There are ritually 81 Lights: 9 Candlesticks to 9
branches. However, they are reduced to 3 Candlesticks with 3 branches.
The interior of the Temple represents the Holy of Holies. President
de l'Atelier represents SALOMON and bears the title of Trois Fois
Mighty Master; as a scepter, he holds a black mallet.
In front of him, on the board are placed: the Sword and the Seal of Secret
(Ivory hand). He is clothed in a black cloak lined with ermine;
he wears a large blue ribbon at the bottom of which is
suspended a golden triangle. He sits in the East before an altar
triangular on which are placed:

A cushion representing the Secret Master's apron. Or an apron

of Secret Master.

The Volume of the Sacred Law opened (1 Kings V, 15).

An ivory key with "Z" on the bit.

A laurel wreath next to an olive tree.

On the Speaker tray is placed the Volume of Large

Constitutions of the Rite of Misraïm, closed.

There is in the Workshop of the fourth degree only one Supervisor

called Brother Inspector wearing the Cord and the Jewel of the degree. This
Single supervisor represents ADONIRAM, Steward of the tribe
of Solomon, who was responsible for inspecting the works on Mount
Lebanon before the death of Hiram-Abif.

Adoniram was the first Secret Master, He sits in the West and does not
must have no iron tools.

Three candelabras with three branches light the Atelier alone (in all
nine lights). (A six-branched candelabra on the plateau of the
Three Times Powerful Master and a three branched candelabra on
the tray of the Brother Inspector).

The apparent goal is to replace Hiram-Abif with 7 Masters

The Neophyte is introduced into the preparation room; he wears it
Master's decor. It is rigorously tiled in the first three
degrees by Brother Expert.

MASTER OF CEREMONIES
The Master of Ceremonies then poses on the forehead of the Neophyte
a transparent blindfold that covers the eyes. In the middle of the edge
upper part of this headband is fixed a small square of silver.

The Master of Ceremonies then presents himself at the door of the

Temple accompanied by the Neophyte and strikes as a Master Mason.

various circumstances and it suggested to me that he might educate himself
any further ; I then decided to offer it to you at the Degree
of Secret Master.

and the symbolism of it has been explained to you.

The new degree you are now in has a

particular symbolic initiation, to which it will be proceeded.

We had, first, to strip you of your badges of
Venerable Master.

It symbolically means that what you have, learned

to this day in Masonry is nothing compared to what you
remains to be learned, you are going to be in this secret Lodge, as
an Apprentice in a Lodge of the first degree; we know that in
obtaining the Degrees of Companion and Master you have acquired
two levels of education.

But we consider that this instruction is not complete,

no more than is the light that strikes your eyes at
through the symbolic headband placed on your forehead.

You don't understand well, just as you don't see

GOOD. We will reveal to you later the fundamental point
of the particular doctrine of this Degree, but above all we
must let you know that the Masonic discretion that you
swore to observe in your first initiation and in
each of your Salary Increases is even stricter
in this new Degree. To give you proof
symbolic, we will seal your lips with the Seal of the
secret.

Brother Master of Ceremonies, come and take from the altar the Seal
of the Secret and use it to symbolically close the lips
of the Venerable Neophyte!

then the first two fingers of the right hand on the lips
and returns to the Altar to return the Seal to the Thrice Mighty
Master with the same Ceremonial.

Master Neophyte the four symbolic journeys!

THREE TIMES MIGHTY MASTER

Just like the Light that you carry and that you do not see
that imperfectly, the Truth is the Light placed within the reach of
any man who wants to open his eyes and who wants to look.

Duty surely leads to it.

If you want to seek the True Light and the Lost Word,
bow before our Altar; contract a sincere alliance
with us ; take the obligation to faithfully guard the secrets and
to fulfill the duties of this degree. Get up, my brothers.

NEOPHYTE
The Neophyte standing, still holding the torch in his hand
left, place the right hand on the Volume of the Sacred Law. In
this position, he repeats phrase by phrase, after the Three Times
Mighty Master, the following oath:

I, in the presence of the Supreme Architect of the Worlds, promise

and solemnly swear to henceforth recognize the Regulations
and Constitutions of the Egyptian Masonic Order of the Rite of
Misraïm as the only Fundamental Laws.

I further promise and swear never to reveal or make known

to anyone other than those who are entitled to it and after having been
duly authorized to do so, none of the secrets that will be
communicated and to comply with the Supplementary Regulations of
this Respectable Lodge of Perfection on which I will depend
for at least three years.

I pray the Supreme Architect of the Worlds to keep me in

the path of Righteousness, Justice and Virtue.

MASTER OF CEREMONIES
The Master of Ceremonies removes the rope from the Neophyte's neck and
the torch taken from his hand; the first two fingers of his
right hand are placed at the Sign of Silence on his lips. THE
Master of Ceremonies then removes the Blindfold placed over the eyes
of the Neophyte.

THREE TIMES MIGHTY MASTER

My Brother, you were plunged into darkness.

By returning the Light to you, we commit you to the Way

of duty.

May this square which was placed on your forehead remind you
always that you have to walk straight ahead without you
let it go astray.

May it also remind you that you have now passed from
the Square to the Compass.

You see our Lodge in mourning and the Brethren still immersed in
the pain caused to them by the death of our Master Hiram-Abif.

The pain of losing those we love is

natural; but we mourn even more the loss of the True
Word of which we are now deprived and which we must
constantly searching until she is found.

LEGEND OF THE FIFTH DEGREE

King Solomon, having learned that Hiram's body had been

discovered and deposited in the western part of the unfinished Temple,
ordered Adoniram, who was appointed Grand Architect and
Inspector of Works, to prepare for the Grand Mort des
funeral worthy of his virtues. To keep alive the
memory of his sad fate and to maintain the general indignation
against his murderers, he gave orders not to wash the floor of the
Temple so as not to erase the traces of Hiram's blood.
He summoned, to be present at the funeral, all the workers
of the Temple, Mount Lebanon and the quarries.

In nine days, Adoniram completed the tomb in memory of the

Master, white marble tomb surmounted by an obelisk
triangular black marble from Egypt, on which there was a
urn of the same material, pierced with a sword. On the urn was engraved
a branch of acacia and, on the base, the initials of the word
M:.B:.N:.. This urn was meant to hold the heart,
previously embalmed. This monument was erected in the part
west of the Temple, a little to the north, and marked the place where the
murderers had buried the body. It had been decided not to
celebrate the funeral before the monument is completed.

The body was embalmed and placed in a coffin which was kept
in the part of the Temple where the Three Masters used to
to come together to deliberate and communicate the mysteries of the
Primitive Freemasonry, mysteries common to the Hebrews and
to the Phoenicians. Three days after the monument was completed, the
remains of the Master were deposited there by King Solomon, aided by
Adoniram, Johaben, by all Princes, Nobles,
captains and by all the workers in the presence of the King of Tyre, who
was also called Hiram, and who had come from his country to assist
at the grand ceremony.

Later, the anniversary of this funeral was observed

rigorously. On this occasion, a Brother represented the deceased. We
gave him the name "Perfect Master" (Morah Salem) because
that from that time he must, by his character and conduct,
to be the representative of Master Hiram whose place he had occupied
in the Tomb and of which he had worn the jewel and the decorations.

Later still, to perpetuate the memory of the Master's murder,

a representation of it was substituted in the Hebrew mysteries for
the place of the ceremonies introduced from Egypt by Moses and
those practiced in Phoenicia. All were the emblem of a
great truth and of a guiding idea common to all peoples

old and that it is possible for us to know by penetrating our

mysteries.

In the first three degrees, we learned that the real

Knowledge begins with knowledge of ourselves. Wisdom
ancient said: "Know yourself and you will know the Universe
and the gods”. It is in secret that we must continue his
works by hunting down the murderers.

In the Fifth Degree, Hiram lives again in each of us. Through him we
understand the nobility of Man. It is now that we
must study in silence and meditation what is called
improperly "the mysteries" which are in truth only the result
of Spiritual Evolution, for there are more things on earth and
in the sky, than our imagination can conceive.
In his book "History and Rituals of the High Grades
Masonic", Paul Naudon writes: "According to the Ritual, the Mason
arrived at this degree studies the philosophy of Nature he receives the
solution to the problem of squaring the philosophical circle
posed by the previous degree. »

By finding the word, which is "Jehovah", he arrives at the goal.

On learning that the performance of Duty, to which he was

invited as a Secret Master, is the realization of "the principle
high which is in us and not outside of us", he discovers that
the key to Knowledge, as object and absolute truth, is not
not knowledge considered as a mode of apprehension of
this, but in the direct and immediate participation in the
Principle, which is immanent in the initiate.

This one discovers this Truth, this revelation in his conscience

philosophical by the victory over oneself. It also includes, at

term of the Ritual, which "Man", being finite, could not steal from
Nature its most hidden secrets, nor create the Sciences and
Arts, If his intelligence were not a direct emanation from the
Root cause. And he draws the immediate consequence that all
we are free, we are all Brothers, we are all
equal.

The concepts of liberty, fraternity and equality thus take

an ontological value.

“The Jewel of rank is a Compass, opened at sixty degrees,

angle of the equilateral triangle and the Sacred Delta on which was
struck the ineffable name of God. »

By their initiatory and philosophical significance, these two degrees

complementary to "Secret Master" and "Perfect Master" are
by far the most important of the ranks conferred in the Lodges of
Perfection.

 TITLE of OFFICERS

The one who presides represents the noble Adoniram, brother of Abda of
the tribe of Dan, who conducted the Works before the arrival of Hiram
and was sent to Mount Lebanon to inspect the work
did for the use of the Temple:

There is (theoretically) also a Couvreur brother who rides the

guard seated outside the temple.

The Expert Brother sits in the East, to the right and in front of the Venerable
Master.
It is therefore necessary to appoint a Deputy Expert, and provide for him a
seat to the right and in front of that of the First Warden.

The other officers wear the decoration of Master Perfect and sit at
their usual place. The following Brothers will each have
two :

Brother Hospitaller: a compass,

The Expert Brother: a hammer,
The Assistant Brother Expert: a rule.

In the course of the ceremony these Brothers will be brought to

place these instruments around Hiram's tomb.

TEMPLE DECORATION
The Temple in which the Lodge is held has its usual layout.
The drapes are green. In each corner there are four columns
white, symbolizing the four cardinal points, i.e. sixteen in
all each carrying a white light.

The dressing room is thus lit by sixteen square-shaped lights,

symbol of perfection.

The Altar is covered with a black cloth, strewn with tears

white. We deposit there: The rolls of parchment, the volume of
the sacred law, the compass and the square, the hammer and the ruler. A canopy
red overlooks the east.

SPEAKER
King Solomon, having learned that Hiram's body had been
discovered and deposited in the western part of the unfinished temple,
wanting to preserve the precious remains of this great man,
ordered Adoniram, who was later named Grand Architect
and Inspector of Works, to prepare a funeral worthy of
its virtues.

To keep the memory of his sad fate more alive and to

maintain the general indignation against his murderers, he gave
the Order not to wash the floor of the Temple so as not to
disappear the traces of Hiram's blood, until the
murderers are found and punished. It had been decided not to
celebrate the funeral before the monument is completed.

The body was embalmed and placed in a coffin which was kept
in the part of the Temple where the three Masters used to
meet to deliberate and to communicate the mysteries of the
primitive freemasonry.

King Solomon summoned, to be present at the funeral,

all the workers of the Temple, of Mount Lebanon and of the quarries.

In nine days, Adoniram completed in memory of the Master, a

superb mausoleum intended to receive his remains. It was a
white marble tomb surmounted by a triangular obelisk in
black marble from Egypt, on which stood an urn of the same
matter, pierced with a sword. On the urn was engraved a branch
of acacia and on the base the initials "MB". This urn was
intended to receive the previously embalmed heart.

This monument was raised in the East, outside the Temple. Three
days after the monument was completed, King Solomon came with
his whole yard, in the presence of all the workers. He examines the
mausoleum, the urn and the obelisk as well as the letters which were
engraved and, then raising his hands to heaven, he said in the joy of his
heart: "It's perfect"! And, by a sign of admiration every
workers raised their hands and their eyes to the sky, tilting a
little head on the right shoulder and dropped their hands
crossed on their stomachs while crying "Amen" four times.

The remains of the Master were placed in the tomb by the king, assisted
by Adoniram, Stolkin, by all Princes, Nobles,
captains and by all the workers in the presence of the king of Tyre, who
had arrived from his country, to attend the ceremony and the heart was
placed in the urn on top of the obelisk. Later,
the anniversary of this funeral was rigorously observed. AT
On this occasion, a Brother represented the deceased. They gave him the name
of Perfect Master (Moreh Shalom), because from that moment
he was, by his character and conduct, to be the representative
of the Master Hiram, whose place he had occupied in the tomb and
whose decorations he had worn.

King Solomon, in fulfillment of the promise made to his ally

Hiram, King of Tyre, destined him for twenty towns in the land of Galilee in
payment for services rendered for the construction of the Temple.

Going to Jerusalem to pay a last respects to the Master

Hiram-Abi, the King of Tire visited the cities which had been
promised. He found them depopulated and in ruins, the whole country
around uncultivated and sterile, with a few unfortunate inhabitants
poor and sordid, so that this country, instead of being a
source of income, would have been only a burden on his treasury. He

concludes that his ally, in defiance of his good faith and his
royal honor, had kept his promise only in the letter and not
in the spirit of the treaty. In fact, Solomon intended, before
to put his ally in possession of these cities, to rebuild them, to
repopulate

Arriving in Jerusalem, the King of Tire went directly and safely

Johaben (or Zabud), the devoted servant and favorite of Solomon,

devotion made him neglect all precautions and he was seen by
the King of Tire who seized him, dragged him into the Chamber and he would have
was shot down by the angry King without Solomon's intervention.

Johaben (Zabud) explained himself and the King of Tire found that he was
truly a zealous and faithful servant.

So Solomon hired her as Intimate Secretary to fill

the void left by the death of Master Hiram-Abi. This legend is
taken from the Bible. I Kings, chapter 9, paragraph 13. The King of Tire believed
that Johaben (Zabud) was listening at the door out of sheer curiosity.

This Sixth Degree teaches that there are two kinds of curiosities,
one vain and reprehensible and the other useful, if its motive is

permitted only to the wise. The desire to do well should not do
forget that there is nothing fruitful outside of our loyal action and
sincere.

The legend presents the alliance between two powerful Masters whose
a servant would have sought to unlock the secrets. It's a hint
direct and a warning given at the start of the search for
Knowledge to those who would like to penetrate the secrets of
nature, whatever the dangers, out of curiosity or even in
a laudable intention.

TEMPLE SETUP

The place where this Lodge stands represents the audience hall of

 OF THE SIXTH DEGREE

SPEAKER
In accordance with the treaty which its ambassadors had concluded
with the king of Tyre, Solomon was to give him, in payment of the
materials taken from Mount Lebanon and from the quarries of Tyre, a
number of measures of oil, honey and wheat. He had to
no longer deliver to him a province of Galilee comprising 30 cities as soon as

SPEAKER
You have learned, my Very Dear Brother, in the degree of Elect of
nine through which you passed, that ABIRAM-AKIROPH, one of the
murderers of our Respectable Master HIRAM-ABIF, was killed
in a cave. The skeleton you see in the East is the

crime.

SALOMON had his head embalmed so that it could be preserved

Accordingly SOLOMON chooses fifteen of the most worthy
Brothers and zealous Masters, including the nine who had been at the
search for ABlRAM-AKIROPII.
These left on the 15th of the month of THALOUZ (which corresponds
in the month of vulgar June) and arrived on the 28th of the same month in
the country of GUETH. They delivered SOLOMON's letter to
MAACA who, terrified by the news, immediately gave the

Orders to search for the 2 brigands and to deliver them to the

Israelites, finding themselves happy to see their estates rid of
such monsters. Five days were employed in making the most exact
searches. ZERBAL and HELEHAM were the first to discover
the assassins in a quarry called BENDICAT.

The scoundrels were chained and loaded with iron on which

engraved, the crime of which they were guilty and the punishment which
was reserved. They arrived in Jerusalem on the fifteenth of the following month
and were taken to SALOMON who reproached them for the black crime
of which they were guilty. SOLOMON had them locked up in the
tower of ACHYAR until the hour of their execution. The day after
morning at 10 a.m., the 2 scoundrels were tied to 2 poles by
the neck and through the feet, arms bound behind. Their bodies were

Eminent Elected of the Fifteen, one of the precepts of societies
initiatory is: "One is not initiated, one initiates oneself". This
precept acquires greater vigor as one
climbed the hierarchical ladder of Egyptian Masonry.

It is therefore up to you now to reflect on the ordeal you

just suffered, to seek its symbolic meaning. For
help you, however, you will be given knowledge, by the
Knight Hiram of an allegorical legend of which you will have to
also seek to penetrate meaning.

KNIGHT HIRAM
Legend of the Three Magi who Visited the Great Vault and
discovered the center of the idea.

Long after the death of Hiram and Solomon and all their
contemporaries, after the armies of Nebuchadnezzar had
destroyed the kingdom of Judah, razed the city of Jerusalem, overthrown the
Temple, taken into captivity those who had survived the
massacre of populations; while Mount Zion was not
more than an arid desert where a few skinny goats were grazing
guarded by starving Bedouins and looters, one morning three
travelers arrived at the slow pace of their camels.
These three travelers were Magi, Initiates of Babylon,
members of the Universal Priesthood, who came on pilgrimage and
exploring the ruins of the ancient Sanctuary. After a frugal
meal, the pilgrims traversed the devastated enclosure.

The remains of the walls and the shafts of the columns enabled them to
determine the boundaries of the Temple They then proceeded to examine
the capitals lying on the ground, picking up the stones to
discover inscriptions or symbols.

While carrying out this exploration they discovered a

excavation under an overturned section of wall in the middle of brambles.

It was a well located at the southeast corner of the Temple. They

busied themselves in clearing the orifice, after which one of them, the
elderly, the one who seemed to be the leader, lying face down on the
edge, looked inside.

We were in the middle of the day, the Sun was shining at its zenith and its rays
plunged almost vertically into the well. A shiny object
hit the Mage's eyes. He called his companions, who
placed in the same position and watched.

Obviously, there was an object worthy of attention there: doubtless

a sacred gem.

The three pilgrims resolved to seize it. They untied the

belts they had around their loins, tied them end to end.
end and threw one end into the well.

So two of them, bracing themselves, began to

support the weight of whoever descends. This one, the chief,
grabbing the rope, disappeared through the hole. While he performs
its descent, we will tell you what was the object that had attracted
the attention of pilgrims.

For this, we must go back several centuries,

to the scene of Hiram's murder.

When the Master had, before the door of the East, received the blow of
pinch of the second bad companion, he flees, as well as that
was told to you during your reception at the Grade of Master, for
gain the southern gate; but, while rushing forward, he feared either
to be sued, or to meet a bad third
mate, as it was to happen.

He removed from his neck a jewel which was suspended there by a chain
of 77 rings, and threw it into the well which opened in the Temple
at the corner of the east and south sides.
This jewel was a Delta of a side palm made of the purest metal,
on which Hiram, who was a complete initiate, had engraved the name
ineffable and which he carried on him, face inward, back, alone
exposed to view, showing only a plain surface.

Back to our three travellers. Helping hands and feet,

the Magus descended into the depth of the well, he found that the
wall of it was divided into zones or rings made of stones
of different colors, each of them about a cubit of
width.

When he was down he counted these areas and found that they were
ten in number. He then lowered his gaze to the ground, saw the jewel
of Hiram, picked it up, looked at it, and noted with emotion that it
bore the ineffable word which he himself knew, for he was, he
also, a complete insider.

So that his companions, who had not like him, received all
ranks, could not read it, he hung the jewel on his collar by the
chain, putting the face in, as the Master had done.
He then looked around and noticed the existence, in the
wall, with an opening through which a man could
enter. He entered it, groping his way through the darkness.

His hands met a surface, which on contact he judged to be

bronze. He then retreated, regained the bottom of the well, warned his
companions to hold fast the rope, and ascended.

Seeing the jewel that now adorned their leader's chest,

the two Magi bowed before him; they guessed he was coming
to undergo a new consecration. He told them what he had seen,
spoke to them from the bronze door. They thought there must be
there a mystery; they deliberated and resolved to go together to the
discovery. They placed one end of the rope made of the three
belts on a flat stone existing near the well, and on which
the word "Jakin" was still read. They rolled over it a barrel of
column where one saw the word "Bohaz", then made sure that thus
held the rope could support the weight of a man.

Two of them then made the sacred fire using a stick

of hard wood rolled between the hands and turning in a hole made in
a piece of soft wood.

When the soft wood was lit, they blew to cause the
flame.

During this time, the third had gone to take, in the

packs attached to the camels' hindquarters, three torches of
resin they had brought to ward off wild animals
from their nocturnal camps.

The torches were successively brought near the flaming wood

and ignited themselves with sacred fire.

Each Magus, holding his torch in one hand, slid along

rope to the bottom of the well.

Once there, they sank, under the direction of their chief, in

the corridor leading to the bronze door.

Arrived in front of it, the old Mage examined it attentively

the light of his torch. He noticed, in the middle, the existence of a
embossed ornament in the form of a royal crown surrounded
of a circle made up of points, 22 in number.

The Magus absorbed himself in deep meditation, then he

uttered the word "Malkuth" and suddenly the door opened.

The explorers then found themselves in front of a staircase which

sank into the ground; they set out, always with the torch in
hand, counting the steps, when they came down
three, they encountered a triangular landing on the left side
from which began a new staircase, they entered
this one and after five steps found a new level of
same shape and size.

This time the staircase continued on the right side and consisted of
seven steps. Having crossed a third landing, they descended
nine steps and found themselves before a second door of
bronze.

The old Magus examined it like the previous one and found
the existence of another ornament in relief representing a stone
corner, also surrounded by a circle of 22 points.

He pronounced the word “lesod” and this door opened in turn.

The Magi entered a vast vaulted and circular room, of which

the wall was decorated with nine strong ribs starting from the ground and
found at the central point of the summit. They examined him by the light
with their torches, walked around it to see if there was no other

exit than the one through which they had entered. They found none
point and thought of withdrawing; but their leader retraced his steps,
examined the veins one after the other, looked for a point
landmark, Counted the veins and suddenly he called.

In a dark corner, he had discovered a new door of

bronze. This one bore as a symbol a radiant sun,
always inscribed in a circle of 22 points.

The chief of the Magi having pronounced the word "Hod", it opened
again and gave access to a second room. Successively the
explorers passed through five other doors also concealed
and passed into new crypts. On one of these doors, he
there was a lion's head; on the next, a resplendent moon
; then there were: a ruler, a soft and graceful curve, an Eye,
a scroll of the Law, and, finally, a royal crown.

The words spoken were: Nezah, Tiphereth, Khesed, Din,

Binah, Chochmah and Kether. When they entered the
ninth vault, the Magi stopped surprised, dazzled, frightened.
This one was not plunged into darkness; she was at
opposite, brilliantly lit. In the middle were placed three
lampposts eleven cubits high, having three branches,
on each of which were three lamps. These lamps which
had been burning for centuries, including the destruction of the kingdom of
Judah, the razing of Jerusalem and the collapse of the Temple
had not brought about extinction, shone brightly,
illuminating every corner with a light that is both soft and intense,
all the details of the marvelous architecture of this vault without
the same, cut in the living rock.

The pilgrims extinguished their torches, which they no longer had

needed, put them down by the door, took off their shoes and
straightened their hair as in a holy place, then they

advanced, bowing nine times towards the gigantic

streetlights. At the base of the triangle formed by these was erected
an altar of cubic white marble two cubits on a side. On the
face looking at the vertex of the triangle were represented, in gold, the
masonry tools, ruler, compass, square, level,
the trowel, the mallet. On the left side face, we saw the
geometric figures, the triangle, the square, the five-pointed star,
the cube. On the right side face, one read the numbers 27, 48,
343, 729, 1332, 2197. Finally, on the back side, was
represented the symbolic acacia.

On this altar was placed an Agatha stone of three palms of

coast ; on it was written in gold letters the word "Adonai." THE
two Magi disciples bowed down, worshiped the name of God;
but their leader, on the contrary, raising his head, said to them: "It is time
for you to receive the last teaching that will make you
complete Initiates. This name is only a vain symbol which
does not really express the idea of ​the Supreme Conception”. He
then took Agatha's stone in both hands, turned to her
disciples saying to them, “Look! The Supreme Design, the

come out of no lip! He then placed Agatha's stone back on

We do not know when the first eight vaults were built
and this one dug in the living rock. However the new Great
Initiates diverted their attention from the altar and the stone
of Agathe, looked at the sky of the room which was lost at a
prodigious height, traversed the vast nave or their voices
aroused repeated echoes. They thus arrived in front of a
eleventh door carefully concealed and on which the
symbol was a broken vase. They called their Master and said to him:
“Open this door to us again, there must be a new
mystery behind. "No," he answered them, "we must not open
this door. Yes, there's a mystery behind, but it's a mystery
terrible, a mystery of death! " Oh ! You want to hide us
something, reserve it for you; But we want it all
know, we ourselves will open this door". They set themselves
then to pronounce all the words they had heard from the
mouth of their Master; then, as the words did not produce
no effect, they said all that crossed their minds. They
were about to give up, when one of them said, "We cannot
not however continue ad infinitum (En Soph)”. On this word,
door opened with violence, the two imprudent ones were knocked down
on the ground, a furious wind blew through the vault; lamps
magic were extinguished.

The Master rushed to the door, braced himself against it, called his
followers to help; they ran to his voice, braced themselves with
him ; and their united efforts succeeded in closing the door. But the
lights did not come on again; the Magi were immersed in
the deepest darkness. They rallied to the voice of their
Master.

He said to them, “Alas! This terrible event was to be expected.

It was written that you would commit this imprudence. Here we are
in great danger of perishing in these underground places ignored by
men. But let's try to get out of it, to cross the eight

vaults and to arrive at the well by which we descended.

We'll take each other by the hand, we'll walk to
what we found a wall; then we will follow this one
here until we meet the exit door. We
will start again in all the rooms until we are
arrived at the foot of the staircase of twenty-four steps. hope
that we will get there So they did. They spent hours
of anguish, but did not despair. They arrived at the foot of

meditation, under the starry sky, in the middle of the silence of the night, they
went away, in the direction of Babylon, at the slow pace of their
camels.

DECORATION

The academy will be decorated with a Damascus velvet hanging

red, adorned with gold laces or fringes above and below. Of
each side there will be a white satin pillar at the bottom of which one
will put an armchair upholstered in red Damask, where the
Trinitarian Masters, Monarchs and Masters.

The President takes the title of Very Excellent. And stands on a

throne. He must be dressed in a red robe, have on his head a
patriarchal crown and a scepter in his hand. Before him will be a
table on which a sphere and various instruments of
mathematics, the Bible, a Flaming Sword and a Trowel.

Behind him there will be a mirror with a Great Chandelier bearing seven
candles and next to it a seven-branch candlestick.

In the middle of the Academy a table will be placed with a Mat on

which will be the plan of the Architecture of the Temple, and this table will be
