Courier Carnage

Courier Carnage is a game that simulates parcel delivery in a post-apocalyptic wasteland setting. Players control delivery vehicles competing to complete deliveries for cash prizes while attempting to incapacitate opponents. The game is played on a board representing a town, with buildings representing delivery locations. Players race through multiple gears to reach locations and complete deliveries for points, while also trying to stop opponents from finishing their routes. The team that completes all deliveries and returns to the warehouse with the most cash wins.

The rest of the world may have moved on to Mars, but those of us
who run the Gaslands still have basic needs. Parcel Delivery in the Gaslands
is troublesome, but necessary. Deliveries still need to be made; residents
still demand their purchases get to their destination. Shipping is
dangerous; the Gaslands is not the safest place anymore. Shipping
companies have begun sending all parcels Cash On Delivery. This has made
the job of the Shipping driver a much more dangerous one.

Drivers leave the dispatch warehouse with a load of parcels and a list
of destinations. It is up to them to safely deliver the parcel, and return to
the warehouse with the payment and delivery invoice, this is the only way
the driver will receive their payment. If a driver fails to make his delivery
and another driver completes the task, she will get the first driver’s
payment. Some drivers have taken to arming their delivery vehicles with
weapons, armor+ and crews much like the Gaslands competitors.

This has brought the attention of the Gaslands productions teams

who like to post Camera Drones near shipping warehouses in hopes to
catch the carnage between drivers on delivery routes. Fans have begun to
demand Courier Carnage footage and even started choosing favorites
among the drivers. Will you or your Delivery team become the Courier
Carnage Kings?
Setup:

Courier Carnage is played similar to

a Death Race with the goal to incapacitate
your opponent to take their remaining
deliveries. The game board is set up with a
small “town”-like scenario. Ideally, the
board should consist of Six or more
Buildings. Buildings / Containers are given
an address number or a location name so
Drivers know where to make their
deliveries. Some deliveries will be worth Photo by Joe Papasso

more than others. Team Drivers progress through their list of deliveries instead of
passing through gates. Drivers will be required to reduce their gear to gear 0 when they
reach less than 3” of a location to “deliver” at that location. Teams randomly deal
Three Parcel Cards to each Driver.

Teams:

Courier Carnage can be played as a Solo-Car game or as Teams. It plays best with
no more than 6 cars total. Teams can consist of two teams of three Delivery vehicles or
three teams of two Delivery vehicles. Delivery Vehicles can be any of the following
below Vehicle Types, and fall within the rules for those types: Car, Pickup Truck, Van, Ice
Cream Truck, Jeep, Heavy Truck.
Suggested Can totals: One Car, 40 Cans; Two Cars, 60 Cans; Three Cars, 80 Cans

Pole Position:

Drivers each roll a 1D6 to determine Pole Position. At the end of each gear
phase, pass the Pole Position marker clockwise. .

Deployment:

Like a Death Race, drivers begin the race in a starting

grid formation at the Shipping Warehouse. Starting with the
player in pole position, players take turns placing a vehicle
anywhere in the first rank of the starting grid, touching the
starting line. Players must fill up the first rank of the starting
grid before a vehicle can be placed into the second rank, and
so on. Vehicles must be placed into the starting grid such that
they are not touching any other vehicle. Vehicles must be
placed leaving a finger’s width gap on all sides of the vehicle.
Special Rules:

Incapacitated Driver:

If a driver Wipes Out and either

explodes, catches fire, or in any other way
can not proceed they are considered to be
incapacitated. If a driver is incapacitated,
the driver who damaged them can choose
to take the remaining undelivered “parcels”
and must complete those deliveries as well.

st
incapacitated Driver’s parcels, they must start out again in 1 Gear. If the Driver
chooses not to stop to take the parcels, another Driver can slow down and stop to loot
the parcels from the incapacitated driver. Parcels can also be transferred from
incapacitated vehicles to operating vehicles of the same team if a teammate manages to
get there before parcels are looted.

Parcel Cards:

Parcel Cards are to be filled out

prior to the game and dealt three cards to
each Driver. Each Fare is a random 2D6 for
the Parcel for this Delivery Location. The
“To:” line on each card is the Delivery
Location. (We highly recommend
laminating the cards prior to use) When
Drivers receive their Parcel Cards, they roll
the 2D6 for each Fare and write that
number in the stamp section of the card.
When a Driver makes a Delivery, the Card is
rotated 90° to show that Parcel is no longer
in play and awaiting payment from the
Warehouse.

Perks: Daring, Precision, Speed, Technology, Tuning

Parking Master. Halting your vehicle within 3” of your location after a Slide or Spin
without wiping out or causing a Collision will grant you an Audience Vote.
New Rules:

Oh S#!%, This is My Stop: Drivers can come to a halt and shift into Gear 0 if they are
within 4” of their intended target at the end of their movement template, so long as
they began the movement in Gear 1 or 2.

Gear Zero: In gear zero, you cannot evade.

Immediately before gear phase one, vehicles in gear 0 raise to gear 1 with no hazards
gained. If you have the hot start perk, you can use it now, but can only roll a d3.

Audience Votes:

Producers use Audience Votes to keep viewers on their seats. It makes for
better television. Drivers receive Audience votes as Deliveries are made. When a
vehicle is the first to make a Delivery, each other player rolls a D6, and adds the number
of Deliveries their team has left to make. If the total is 8 or more, they immediately gain
1 audience vote.
Audience Votes can also be awarded in other various ways. If a Driver manages
to Incapacitate another Vehicle or if a Driver performs a Parking Master stunt.

Victory:

The Team that completes their lists

and return to the Shipping Warehouse with
the largest parcel payment and all of their
operating drivers is the winner.
(Incapacitated drivers can receive payment
for deliveries prior to incapacitation for
campaign purposes.) Victory Points are
awarded per each successful delivery. Photo by Joe Papasso

Spoils:

If you are playing a Televised Season, each vehicle that completes their deliveries
earns their team 1D6 cans during the post-game sequence. Each driver gains 1D6 cans
for each victory point they scored. Any driver that ends the game with 3 victory points
or more gains an additional 3D6 cans.
