1. PREPARE INSTALLATION

CAUTION - A complete AWS software installation (from scratch) takes about

90 minutes.
A version update (installation from warm) takes between 40 and 90 minutes.

Before starting an installation or an update, you shall take control of the AWS
workstation and go to the ok prompt:

There are two possibilities:

a. If system is on, shut it down:
• On the AWS screen background (drag the application screen out of
the way), click the right mouse button to display the Service Tools
menu; select Shutdown click ok.
• Wait for a blank screen (about 20 seconds)
b. Once system is OFF:
• Switch cart power ON
• Switch the monitor ON
• Turn the Workstation ON
• Do not login.

For a complete installation from scratch, continue with Section 2.

For AWS software update only, go to Section 3.

2. IN TALL FROM SCRATCH

CAUTION - Installing from scratch will erase all data. Before starting, be sure
all images have been safely backed-up or archived.
Note down the ADS parameters as indicated in the Service Information and
Procedures SIP-A, in chapter "SYSTEM IDEN TIFICATION AND FOLLOW­
UP".

OTE - Material needed:

• AWS Jumpstart Diskette
• AWS Operating System CD-ROMs
• AWS Application CD-ROM
• AWS software license key
• Current JDC software CD-ROM

1. Load the Jumpstart diskette and the Solaris CD-ROM #1 into their respec­
tive drives.
2. At login prompt, log in as root.
3. Shutdown AWS:
{hostname} halt .J
4. At the ok prompt, launch the installation (this stage takes about three min-
utes):
ok> boot cdrom - install .J

The system displays a black screen for about 15 seconds, then displays infor­
mation messages, followed by install and set-up windows:
Initializing memory
Boot device : copyright...
Rebooting with command : boot CD-ROM install
Configuring /dev and /devices
Using RPC Boot params network configuration information

OTE - Depending on your AWS H/W configuration, an error message:

m64: f ifo error may be displayed when the mouse pointer is outside the
window; ignore it.

5. Reply, as indicated below, to the Operating System questions, which are
displayed successively:
• Type "O" to select English language.
• Type "O" to select English(C - 7-bit ASCII) locale.

Do not select anything else but US English. This is the operating system
installation language, not the application language.

Starting OpenWindows ...

6. To begin the installation process, click �ontinue in window.

7. To begin identifying the system, click Continue in window.
8. Select YES for network connection (even if the system is not connected to
a network). Click Continue.

9. You must specify if DHCP is used: Select No. Click Continue.
10. Select eriO as the primary network interface. Click Continue.
11. Enter system hostname (as given by your network administrator). Click
Continue.
12. Enter AWS primary IP address (as given by your network administra­
tor). Click Continue.
13. Select Yes for AWS part of a subnet and click Continue.
14. Enter your Netmask value (do not guess, ask your network administrator)
and click Continue.
15. Do not enable lpv 6. Click Continue.
16. Confirm correct settings and click Continue.
17. Do not configure Kerberos Security. Click Continue.
18. Check info, click Continue.
19. Select None if your system is not using a name service and click Con­
tinue.
20. Check info, click Continue.
21. Set date and time zone using GMT offset method. Click Set...
Set a 0-hour GMT offset and click Continue.
22. Change dates and time if required and click Continue.
23. Check info, click Continue.

longer be supported in future release. You may want to migrate
to CDE ...
Check Check here to disable the message then click Continue.

NOTE - When the CD-ROM is ejected, if the drive door touches the chassis, it
will close again. Proceed as follows to eject CD-ROM:
• Press·- <Enter> when AWS ASKS FOR SOLARIS 8 SOFTWARE 2 OF 2
CD-ROM.
• Because the CD-ROM is not the SOLARIS 8 SOFTWARE 2 OF 2 CD­
ROM, the CD-R - OM is ejected.

• You are asked again for SOLARIS 8 SOFTWARE 2 OF 2 CD-

• The AWS Operating System CD-ROM #2 is ejected.
• The windows ADS installation and system Console are displayed.
• You are asked to disconnect the bar code reader if one is connected,
and press <Enter>.
Hit <Enter> J to install from CD-ROM,
or type "net" to install from network:
26. Press <Enter>.
Insert ADS Application CD in drive.
Hit <Enter>_J when CD inserted or q to quit
27. Insert AWS Application CD-ROM, then press <Enter>.

32. On the AWS screen background, click the right mouse button to open the
Root Menu. Select Service Tools, then Command Window.
33. In the window, type:

and then enter root password .J operator

35. After the message Configuring ADS for senographe Essential/DS
appears, click the right mouse button on the AWS screen background, to

open the Root Menu. Select Restart Browser.
The message Invalid software key for A.W.S. Stationis dis­
played.

NOTE: The message AWS reset in progress .. . 25% will be displayed in the
background. Just ignore it.

36. On the AWS screen background, click the right mouse button to open the
Root Menu. Select Service Tools, then Command Window.
37. In the window, type:
{Hostname} install.key .J
Please enter the software key[?,q]

38. On the AWS screen background, click the right mouse button to open the
Root Menu. Select Service Tools, then Shutdown.
39. Click OK, then wait until the system shuts down completely.
40. Power on the system, and log in as sdc.
- 41. In the displayed window, enter:

(and corresponding password).J
ADS software is now installed. CD tools and IDC files now need to be
updated on the AWS.
42. On the AWS screen background, click the right mouse button to open the
Root Menu. Select Service Tools, then Command Window.
43. In the window; type:
su - root.J
and then enter root password .J

Ignore the error messages:
SUNW_port_link : devfadm-ennumerate-char failed
Remove CDROM and floppy (if any) if asked by the script.
44. At the prompt, type:
{Hostname} cd -sdc/senovision/scripts �
{Hostname} Update_IDC_Files �
45. Follow instructions: Load IDC application CD-ROM. When End of script is
displayed and CD-ROM automatically ejected, files are updated.
Ignore the error messages, except if the CD-ROM is eject without End of
script message. In this case, the IDC CD-ROM was not correctly
detected. Try again or change it.
46. Do not forget to connect the bar code reader if necessary.
47. Restart the browser.
48. In the browser, select QAP button and then RRA. Click Reset Repeat &
Reject analysis OK button, then Close windows and Back
49. Verify Installation as described in Section 4. "Verify Installation".

a. UPDA T E FROM CD-ROM

NOTE - Only the AWS Application CD-ROM and thecurrent IDC Software CD­
ROM are needed.

TION - First note down the ADS parameters as indicated in the chapter

1. Shut down and reboot the AWS workstation.

2. At the login prompt log in as root.
3. Load the AWS Application CD-ROM into the drive, then enter:

OTE - GEMSiop package installation can take about an hour, according to

the number of images

update and start again at beginning of Section 3.
