Project: Layout PlanINTRODUCTION
Direct boring is a method used for the installation of tubewells, which involves
drilling a borehole directly into the ground to access underground water sources.
This method is often preferred over other methods of tubewell installation, such as.
conventional drilling, because itis less invasive and can be carried out quickly and
efficiently with minimal disruption to the surrounding area. It is successful in
ordinary as well as in soft rock strata.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Planning and Design for Direct Boring
Site Survey before starting of Direct Boring Activities
Video Logging
Establishment of Pond area
Drilling and Rigging
Lowering of Pipes
Shifting of Mud and other material after Direct Boring
Mobilization of Logistic Transport
Equipment and material selection
Mobilization of Direct Boring machinery
Backfilling
Restoration
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this method statement are to ensure that the direct boring of
tubewells is carried out in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible
manner, and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The specific
objectives include:
Preparation of the site for direct boring.
Proper installation of the tubewelll using direct boring techniques.
Ensuring safety of personnel and equipment.
Minimizing the environmental impact of the direct boring process.
REFERENCE
Compliance with Local Authority Requirements, Specifications, and Engineering
Standards.

Site Preparation:
The site for the direct boring of the tubewell should be properly marked and
access should be restricted to authorized personnel only.
All underground utilities should be identified and marked prior to the start of the
boring process.
The area surrounding the site should be cleared of any obstacles that may
interfere with the direct boring process.
Boring:
The direct boring process will be carried out using specialized equipment,
including a drilling rig with a drill bit 20".
The drill bit should be carefully selected to match the geology of the site and
should be properly maintained to ensure efficient drilling.
The drilling should be carried out in a systematic manner, with careful attention
paid to the stability of the borehole and the safety of the personnel and
equipment.
Strata samples will be collected at every 10’ difference or as prescribed intervals
for preservation and sieve analysis if required.
Water samples will be collected at regular intervals in prescribed manner for
testing.
Installation:
Immediately after the borehole has been drilled, the bail plug, strainer and blind
pipe will be lowered with each pipe properly screwed and joined.
Once lowering is done, the side spaces will be filled with shrouding and sanitary
seal.
Bore hole will be washed and cleaned with the help of compressor for 10 hours
and then it will be pumped continuously at the discharge 1.5 thimes the design
discharge.
etnaThe top pipe will be stuck at around 3’ above Ground Level and the top hole will
be covered with MS plate 3/8 inch dia duly and properly welded all around.
Safety:
All personnel involved in the direct boring process should wear appropriate
personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves
and hearing protection as required.
The drilling equipment should be inspected and maintained regularly to prevent
accidents caused by equipment failure.
Emergency response procedures should be in place in case of accidents or other
emergencies during the direct boring process.
Environmental Protection:
All direct boring work should be carried out in a manner that minimizes
environmental impact.
Appropriate measures should be taken to prevent contamination of soil and water
sources.
Waste materials should be disposed of according to local regulations.
Record Keeping:
Records should be kept of all work carried out during the direct boring process,
including photographs, videos any inspections report, safety checks, or other
activities.
These records should be kept for future reference, to ensure that the direct
boring work was carried out in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
By following these procedures, the direct boring of tubewells can be carried out
safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. It is
essential to follow alll relevant laws and guidelines, and to ensure that all workers
involved in the project are adequately trained and equipped for the task
SAFETY GUIDELINES
The following safety guidelines should be followed when carrying boring and
conversion process.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
All workers involved in the demolition process should wear appropriate personal
protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves and
hearing protection as required.
Electrical Safety:
Before beginning boring process, all electrical lines and equipment in the area
should be properly identified specially overhead conductors and de-energized to
prevent electrical hazards.Structural Safety:
The structural stability of the surrounding area should be assessed before
beginning the work.
Hazardous Materials:
Equipment Safety:
All equipment and tools e.g. safety helmets, goggles etc. will be used during the
process.
Communication:
Effective communication between all workers involved in the process is essential
to ensure that everyone is aware of potential hazards and can work together to
prevent accidents.
Emergency Preparedness:
‘An emergency response plan should be in place in case of accidents or other
emergencies during the process. All workers should be trained in emergency
response procedures and first aid.
Environmental Protection:
All demolition work should be carried out in a manner that minimizes
environmental impact. Appropriate measures should be taken to prevent
contamination of soil and water sources, and waste materials should be disposed
of according to local regulations.
Supervision:
The drilling process should be supervised by a qualified supervisor who is
responsible for ensuring that all safety guidelines are followed and that the work
is carried out efficiently and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
By following these safety guidelines, the drilling can be carried out safely and
efficiently, minimizing the risk of accidents and environmental impact.
Company Health & Safety Policy
All works will be performed in accordance with applicable local and national laws,
contract requirements and regulations, including the Health and Safety of the
company’s personal and others
All the work operations will be so conducted that these will not be harmful to the
life; or the health of the personnel working at the site.
To avoid accidents and injuries to the workers, work areas will be adequately
guarded by the H&S Officer on a routine basis. The workers will be provided with safety helmets and other safety kits as
required,
RISK ASSESSMENT
Following is the risk assessment process.
Identifying hazards- Before the start of the work Lead Civil/ supervisor shall
identify the potential hazard involved in the construction activity.
Security Staff shall be deputed at the site.
Evaluate Risk- After identifying the risk, the Lead Civil/supervisor shall evaluate
the risks involved in the construction activity. High, Medium, slight/low
Remove hazards/ Control Hazard. - After risk evaluation, In chargeof Civil/ Lead
Civil shall take remedial measures to control the hazards before starting the
work. Following steps can minimize or control the hazards.
Control & Monitor
Prevention and control are sufficient when,
Machines' tools and structures comply with laws and standards.
Work to be designed and organized to be safe and healthy.
Employees are trained, and they use safe working practices.
