Using models, relate: Code:
1. the tilt of the Earth to the length of daytime; S7ES-IVh-9
2. the length of daytime to the amount of energy
received;
3. the position of the Earth in its orbit to the height
I. Learning of the Sun in the sky;
Competency/ies 4. the height of the Sun in the sky to the amount of
energy received;
5. the latitude of an area to the amount of energy the
area receives; and
6. tilt of the Earth and the seasons
II. Content SEASONS
Summer solstice is the day when the northern hemisphere receives the
most amount of direct sunlight. It occurs on June 21 or 22. The southern
hemisphere experiences the winter solstice during this time.
Winter solstice is the day when the northern hemisphere receives the
least amount of direct sunlight. It occurs on December 21 or 22. The southern
hemisphere experiences the summer solstice during this time.
Key Concept/ Earth’s equator receives the most amount of direct sunlight during two
Understanding to be equinoxes; the spring or vernal equinox and the fall or autumnal equinox.
developed During equinox, the length of daytime and daytime are the same.
The spring or vernal equinox occurred around March 21 or 22, when
north pole starts to tils away from the sun.
The fall or autumnal equinox occurred around September 21 or 22,
when the north pole starts to tilt toward the sun.
The Philippines has only two seasons: dry and wet season.
Develop the virtue of perseverance especially when dealing with
Attitude difficult tasks.
Interact harmoniously with others.
Display intellectual honesty in doing and answering each assigned task.
Values Respect and Concern for Others / God-Fearing and Principle-Centered

b. Developing
Activities Students will answer the following science trivia questions below:
Drill 1. The food or chemical energy source made by plants through photosynthesis.
Ans: Glucose
2. This essential gas is important so we can breathe.
Ans: Oxygen
3. Plant-eating organisms.
Ans: Herbivores
4 PICS 1 WORD
Motivation
Teacher asks:
Presentation What are the four pictures all about?
What season does each picture represent?
Students will be watching videoclips about Earth’s rotation and revolution.

ACTIVITY
Students will be tasked to take note some of the important terms they might encounter
while watching the video.
d. Analysis 1. What causes the sun and earth to move in the sky the way they do?
2. What is season?
3. What are the four seasons of the earth?
4. What events or phenomena lead to the occurrence of the solstices?
5. What happens to the path of the sun across the sky each day as seasons change?
6. What are the two seasons in the Philippines?
e. Abstraction
Discussion 1. What causes the sun and earth to move in the sky the way they do?
On earth we observe the movement of the sun and earth in the sky, which are
due to Earth’s rotation and revolution.
2. What is season?
3. What are the four seasons of the earth?
4. What events or phenomena lead to the occurrence of the solstices?
5. What happens to the path of the sun across the sky each day as seasons
change?
As season’s change, the path of the sun across the sky each day also changes.
During summer, the sun’s path is higher in the sky. During winter, the sun path is lower in
the sky
Generalization
6. What are the two seasons in the Philippines?
To check on student’s understanding of the lesson, they will be tasked to answer the
following orally:
What have you learned from our lesson today?
Possible answer:
Summer solstice is the day when the northern hemisphere receives the most amount of
direct sunlight. It occurs on June 21 or 22. The southern hemisphere experiences the winter
solstice during this time.
Winter solstice is the day when the northern hemisphere receives the least amount of
direct sunlight. It occurs on December 21 or 22. The southern hemisphere experiences the
summer solstice during this time.
Earth’s equator receives the most amount of direct sunlight during two equinoxes; the
spring or vernal equinox and the fall or autumnal equinox. During equinox, the length of
daytime and daytime are the same.
The spring or vernal equinox occurred around March 21 or 22, when north pole starts to
tils away from the sun.
The fall or autumnal equinox occurred around September 21 or 22, when the north pole
starts to tilt toward the sun.
The Philippines has only two seasons: dry and wet season.
APPLICATION In the diagrams below, draw the direction of the breeze that occurs during daytime and
night time.
IV. Direction: Answer the following questions briefly.
EVALUATION
V. ASSIGNMENT 1. How do seasons occur?
2. What are the different seasons that is being experienced in the world?
2. What are the two seasons in the Philippines? Describe each.
