Chapter 1 God Provides

God created the world and everything in it to provide for humanity. He created light, the heavens, earth, plants, animals, day and night. God then created humans in His image and gave them authority over the earth. The Bible describes how God continually provides for our physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. It provides many examples of God fighting battles on our behalf and fulfilling His promises in His perfect timing. The document emphasizes that God desires our obedience to His commands of justice, mercy, and humility in order to have a relationship with Him and receive His provision.

Chapter 1

God Provides

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God created everything to provide for us. He hadn’t created man yet, but He created
everything mankind would need first. First He created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:2, 3 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the
deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3Then God said,
“Let there be light”; and there was light.
God the Father Creator was with God the Spirit (Spirit of God) and God the Son (Light).
He gave us time, days and nights when He started His creation, He spoke it all into
existence: The heavens, the Earth, the grass and herbs and fruit trees with seeds, the sun,
moon and stars so we have light at night, seasons, and living creatures.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and
over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the
earth.”
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
God provided for us before He breathed life into the first man. Also, notice that He did
not speak man into existence, but He formed man from the dust of the ground.

Genesis 1:26 says LET US make man…. Us: the Holy Trinity. God knew before He
made the first man that we would need the Holy Trinity as provision for us also. Our
image is God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit being One. Jesus is a provision
from God the Father. The next time in the Bible that Jesus is declared is after the sin in
the Garden of Eden. God is speaking to Satan: Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity
between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your
head and you shall bruise His heel.” God then provided Adam and Eve tunics of skin of
an animal and clothed them after they had sinned in the Garden. God provides.

Exodus 14:14 “The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
God doesn’t just provide food and clothes and shelter, but protection also. Jesus is our
protector now, but the LORD our God was fighting for us before He sent Jesus. Jesus
fulfilled many provisions for God’s people, protector, educator, friend, judge, physician,
and the list goes on and on. As you get to know Him you will see more clearly. The
peace you are supposed to keep in order for God to fight for you is to keep peaceful with
the people around you, but it also means keep the peace inside of you. Don’t get all upset
while God is expected to take care of the fight. He will fight for you if you keep peace in
your heart and trust that He is fighting for you. He will do it in His timing.

1
Elijah was a prophet of old that had proved God in mighty ways and after the people
believed in God again, Elijah knew to expect God to provide for those people. In one
instance Elijah knew that God would let the rain come after the prophets of Baal had been
executed. Elijah sent his servant to see if there was a cloud in the sky (seven times the
servant checked to see)
1 Kings 18:44, 45 Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, ‘There is a cloud,
as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!’ So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab,
‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ 45Now it happened in the
meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain.
God did provide and it was in God’s timing. Don’t lose heart, just trust that God
provides.

And when God has made you a promise then do not try to do His job for Him. Sarah did
not believe God’s promise to her husband Abraham or she thought she needed to help
God along. Sarah gave her maid Hagar to her husband and that produced Ishmael whom
Sarah later wanted to get rid of. God’s timing with Sarah was a 10 year wait. Sarah
thought she couldn’t get pregnant at her old age, but 10 years later she gave birth to Isaac.

2Kings 6:33 And while he was still talking with them, there was the messenger, coming
down to him; and then the king said “Surely this calamity is from the LORD; why should
I wait for the LORD any longer?” He should have waited on the LORD and trusted that
He would fight this fight also, but he didn’t and the people got to enjoy God’s provision
not him. God is always in control.

Sometimes people are hurt by other people and God didn’t do it, but God allowed it to
happen because there is a lesson in it for the person that was hurt.
Isaiah 49:14-16 But Zion said, ‘The LORD has forsaken me, and my LORD has forgotten
me. 15Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of
her womb? Surely they may forget yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you
on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.

Jeremiah 7:23 “But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will
be your God and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have
commanded you, that it may be well with you.’
John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And
he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to
him.”
Jeremiah 11:4 “which I commanded your fathers in the day I brought them out of the
land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and do according to all
that I command you; so shall you be My people, and I will be your God,’

Jeremiah 24:7 ‘Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD; and
they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their
whole heart.’

2
Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of
you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
This is repeated in Jesus’ commands, which always lead you back to the Father God. Be
just, give mercy to others, and walk humbly WITH YOUR GOD. To do justly comes
from wisdom of God, to love mercy is to show how God treats us with mercy and
forgiveness, and to walk humbly is the way Jesus was on this earth, the first time, He was
our example of how to walk humbly with your God.

Hosea 2:23 Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, and I will have mercy on her who
had not obtained mercy; then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My
people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’
Hosea 6:6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than
burnt offerings.
Luke 9:55, 56 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what
manner of spirit you are of. 56For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but
to save them.” And they went to another village.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”

Daniel 12:1 “At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over
the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since
there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered,
every one who is found written in the book.”

God provides
Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory
by Christ Jesus. Riches in glory – riches are people. Need supplied by Christ Jesus.
God is our portion and we are His portion:
Deuteronomy 32:9 The LORD’s portion is His people.
Psalm 16:5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You maintain
my lot.

Matthew 10:9, 10 “Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, 10nor
bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his
food.”
Matthew 10:19, 20 “But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you
should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20for it is
not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”
Don’t think that God will live your life for you. Life is life. Bad things happen to
believers, believers just have a different way of looking at life and death.
Matthew 5:44, 45 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do
good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven, for He makes His sun rise on the evil
and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

God wants us to follow His commands

3
Matthew 15:4 …“For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’;
and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’” This command is not
just about honoring your father and mother, but all of God’s people. Jesus was speaking
to spiritual leaders about putting tradition over God’s commands in this verse. God’s
command: Honor your father and your mother (Deuteronomy 5:16)
Deuteronomy 5:16 Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has
commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land
which the LORD your God is giving you. Here God tells you He will bless you for
following this command.
God’s law which spiritual leaders had turned into tradition:
Exodus 21:17 And he who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
In Exodus, Jesus is speaking of one of the laws concerning violence.
In Deuteronomy that is one of the Ten Commandments. Notice God’s commandment
shows how you will be blessed if you follow the command. Jesus was telling the
spiritual leaders the difference between laws and commands. Follow commands because
the only One that fulfilled the law was Jesus.

God saves – only God saves (you can’t save someone, just bring them to God and let go)
Mark 10:26, 27 And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then
can be saved?” 27But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not
with God; for with God all things are possible.”

Trust Him
Mark 11:22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.”

Tithe – 1/10 of what God gives you goes to the church of your choice.
Everything comes from God, so 1/10 of your pay. Jesus is just telling you about
tithing in this verse, Jesus expects more than a tithe from us and that is in the
next chapter.
Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, …is the LORD’S. It is holy to the LORD.
Malachi 3:8-10 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, in what
way have we robbed You? In tithes and offerings. 9You are cursed with a curse, for
you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. 10Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, if
I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that
there will not be room enough to receive it.”
Note that God will bless you if you tithe. God says you rob Him if you do not tithe; you
rob Him of blessing you. God doesn’t need your money.
Mark 12:17 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are
Caesar’s (taxes), and to God the things that are God’s (tithes).” And they marveled at
Him.

4
Nothing can separate us from Him
Romans 8:38, 39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39nor height nor depth,
nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
Hebrews 13:5, 6 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things
as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6So we
may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Jesus called us babes

Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank You, Father, LORD of
heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have
revealed them to babes.”
1 Corinthians 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the
wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which
are mighty;

Isaiah 66:2 “For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist,” says
the LORD “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and
who trembles at My word.”

Always be careful because the same God that provides does let go of you if you want
Him to:
Romans 1:24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their
hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,
Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave
them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting:

Joshua 24:15d “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Psalm 59:16, 17 But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the
morning; For You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. 17To You, O
my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my defense, my God of mercy.
1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us,

Listed below are Jesus’ commands that pertain to God:

Matthew 5:44, 45 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do
good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven, for He makes His sun rise on the evil
and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

5
Matthew 10:9, 10 “Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, 10nor
bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his
food.”
Matthew 10:19, 20 “But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you
should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20for it is
not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”
Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank You, Father, LORD of
heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have
revealed them to babes.”

Mark 16:15-19 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to
every creature. 16He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not
believe will be condemned. 17And these signs will follow those who believe; In My name
they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18they will take up serpents
(don’t pick up snakes – this means to cast out demonic spirits); and if they drink anything
deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will
recover.” 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven,
and sat down at the right hand of God.
Acts 1:10, 11 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold,
two men stood by them in white apparel, 11who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you
stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven,
will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
These were angels in white apparel and remember what they said, “will come in like
manner as you saw Him go..” This is one way the anti-Christ will try to trick people.
The anti-Christ has to be born as a man, he will not descend from heaven as Jesus will.
Be careful though, he could come in on a space ship or something. Satan will be giving
him his power and Satan always tries to copy Jesus.

Luke 9:35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, Hear
Him!”
Luke 11:49, 50 “Therefore the wisdom of God also said, ‘I will send them prophets and
apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ 50That the blood of all the
prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this
generation,
Luke 12:2 “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will
not be known.”
Luke 12:4, 5 “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body,
and after that have no more that they can do. 5But I will show you whom you should fear:
Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear
Him!”
Luke 15:7 “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner
who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”
Luke 16:13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love
the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God
and mammon.” Mammon is the spirit of money

6
Luke 24:46- 49 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for
the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance and
remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48And you are witnesses of these things. 49Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon
you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
They waited for the Holy Spirit, but we get to know Jesus and follow His commands and
then we receive the Holy Spirit so we can teach others about Jesus. You have to give your
will to the Holy Spirit. God gave us free will, but if you want the Holy Spirit then you
give up the free will and go with God’s will. God could have made us love Him, but He
wants us to learn to love Him.

John 2:15, 16 When He had made a whip of cords He drove them all out of the temple,
with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the
tables. And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My
Father’s house a house of merchandise!”
Mark 11:17 Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called
a house of prayer for all nations’
John 4:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 5:22, 23 “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,
23that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the
Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who
sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death
into life.”
John 5:30 “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous,
because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.”
John 6:65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless
it has been granted to him by My Father.” You are a chosen one if you understand this
Scripture; that is how you can tell if you are a chosen one. If you don’t understand then
you can pray and ask to understand.
John 7:16 Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent
Me.”
John 7:29 “But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
John 10:30 “I and My Father are one.”
John 12:28 “Father glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘I have
both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
John 12:44, 45 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in
Me but in Him who sent Me. 45And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.”
John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And
he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to
him.”
John 15:9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.”
John 15 told us what to do without Jesus here. John 16 tells us how the Holy Spirit will
come after Jesus has risen to heaven.

7
John 16:23, 24 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” 24Until now you have asked
nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

Revelation 2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the
Paradise of God.”
He who has an ear is the way God says he who can understand scripture. To him who
overcomes is when you overcome evil by turning to God by reading scripture or praying.
There is more about overcoming in this book.
Revelation 2:29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Revelation 3:5, 6 “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not
blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and
before His angels. 6He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the
churches.”
Revelation 3:11-13 “Behold I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one
may take your crown. 12He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My
God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name
of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My
God. And I will write on him My new name. 13He who has an ear, let him hear what the
Spirit says to the churches.”
Revelation 3:18-22 “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may
be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness
may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19As many as
I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20Behold I stand at the
door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and
dine with him, and he with Me. 21To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My
throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22He who has an
ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
This verse is explained in laymen terms in the next chapter.
Revelation 22:7 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the
prophecy of this book.”

Acts 1:7, 8 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the
Father has put in His own authority. 8But you shall receive power when the Holy Sprit
has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 26:16-18 “But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this
purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and
of the things which I will yet reveal to you. 17I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as
well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18to open their eyes, in order to turn
them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”

As this book continues, these verses will be explained. All of Jesus’ commands are at the
back of the book.
