Computer Systems Servicing (CSS) basically involves repair and

maintenance of computer machine’s hardware which is chiefly composed of
electronic components that at certain time may lose their functionality due to
damage or when they reach maximum life span. Part of the repair and maintenance
are the proper testing procedures.

OBTAIN & CLARIFY WORK INSTRUCTIONS BASED ON JOB ORDER OR

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS
The personnel’s work can be understood through a Job Description which
is a written statement of specific job to be performed including the duties,
responsibilities and scopes, and the designation to whom the employee shall report.
It is composed of title/position, job summary, tasks, responsibilities, qualifications,
supervision, working conditions, benefits and salary. The title/position describes
the person’s job in the organization while the qualifications pertain to the
knowledge, skills and talents that make someone eligible for the duty.
A Work Instruction is a tool provided to assist a personnel to do a job
correctly. It should be credible, clear, accessible and consistent to make effective.
A Job Order, on the other hand, is the written authority given to personnel
or establishment to perform certain work. It includes customer information,
equipment specifications, delivery date, job order number, the job to be done, price
and remarks.

3
Process is a series of steps or a set of procedure that should be done to
achieve a specific task. Standard Operating Procedures are written instructions
on how to perform a routine activity to ensure quality and consistency of outputs.

CONSULT RESPONSIBLE PERSON FOR EFFECTIVE AND PROPER WORK

COORDINATION
There are cases that a certain issue or problem cannot be solved at our
own level, therefore, elevating this to more knowledgeable people such as
consultants would be a good move. The methods or approaches that they use in
engaging with the issues and problems with clients are called Consulting
Methodology. The following are the three types of consulting approaches:
a. Condescending Consulting Approach: “I know because I’m the expert.”
– consulting to a person who is very expert in his chosen field.
b. Submissive Consulting Approach: “Doing what I’m told.”
– consulting to a person whom he is told to do so.
c. Collaborative Consulting Approach: “We can help you.”
– consulting to group of people who are experts and identified to be
consulted.
Consultation also follows a process which is through phases:
Phase 1 – Making of first contact or entry;
Phase 2 – Establishing the client-consultant relationship;
Phase 3 – Finding of the problem based on data gathering and analysis;
Phase 4 – Solution finding;
Phase 5 – Planning the work, and working the established plan; and
Phase 6 – Evaluation and Termination where the two parties would look back
their performance of the project and then the consultant will
terminate the consulting relationship.

INTERPRETING DATA SHEETS BASED ON MANUFACTURER’S

SPECIFICATIONS
Typical datasheet information relevant to electronic components may
include the following:
*Manufacturer’s name, product number and name;
*Package formats and ordering codes;
*Notable device properties and functionality, AC/DC ratings; and
*Pin connection diagram, other physical details, etc.
