Fun at home wit) SUPASTEmsHil Welcome to the SUPA STEM Club! We are so excited to gift you this book. SUPA STEM is a family-run initiative that makes learning through play simple. We all want our kids to achieve their best and be happy doing it, and learning through play goes a long way to making this possible. We're about helping busy parents support their children’s learning in a fun, engaging and manageable way. That's why we offer an awesome range of educational toys that can be played with in hundreds of different ways for years to come. It's also why we provide totally free activity ideas, challenges and other resources for kids and families to enjoy. SUPA STEM Is STEM/STEAM-oriented (science, technology, engineering, art and maths), because we love how STEM and STEAM-focused play can help children develop so many essential skills and qualities - problem-solving, creative thinking, working independently and with others, self-expression, resilience, confidence and so much more. Now you've joined the SUPA STEM club, you'll be emailed a fun activity idea for your family every week. Only readily available and low-budget items are needed, and full instructions are provided, You'll also be first in the know about exciting new products we think you'll love, and first to receive future freebies. You can find out more about us, our values and our products at www.supastem.club SUPA STEM is proud to donate 10% of any profits to Unicef, a charity which helps vulnerable children all over the world have a better start to life. You and your kids can have fun learning with SUPA STEM via Instagram, Facebook, Youtube and our website. We can't wait to connect with you! We'd love to see how your kids have got on with these activities, so tag us @supastem and use the hashtag #supastemclub. Thanks for letting us introduce ourselves a little to you today, We hope you and your family enjoy the activities in this book as much as we did! Ben and Claire, founders of SUPA STEM.Here’s how to get the most out of this book This book is designed to help kids have fun whilst learning in a way that works for families. It contains 21 activities that are: sLow-budget or free. All the materials needed are readily available and low-cost, You'll probably find you have many of them at home already. *Straightforward, You don't have to be a STEM/STEAM whiz to do any of these activities. Each one has clear instructions and a simple explanation of the learning point behind it. +Fun! We had a great time writing this book! We've tried, tested and picked out 21 activities we think your kids will love as much as ours did. To get the most out of this book, encourage your kids to have a look and decide an activity that interests them most on a particular day. They may be able to read the instructions alongside you and help you gather the meterials. If you want to, you can use the questions we provide to get them thinking and talking about what they are learning through each activity. We've written the instructions so they're aimed at children as we want it to feel personal to them if they are reading it, but the activities will work just as well if an adult reads the instructions and relays it to the children instead. Each activity includes: ‘Here's what you'll need” “Here's how it’s done" “Get talking” “Here's how it works" A simple list of materials Cleor step-by-step Questions for you and your A kid-friendly explanation of needed. Instructions for you and/or —_—_—kids to think-and chat about -—_the STEM principles ot work. \your kids to follow. together Kids can read it themselves, or you can use it to helo explain the principles they are learning during each activity. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Please read this safety information before doing any of the activities in this book. It’s really important to make sure safety comes first. We are not safety experts and the only kids we are responsible for are our own We've tried these activities out at home and we think your kids will love them too, but you make the final judgement about if they're right and safe for your family, You know your children best. Children should be carefully supervised throughout all of the activities in this book. You and your kids should watch out for sharp objects like scissors, very hot or very cold temperatures (like steam, hot and bolling liquids, ice, a stove, pans and utensils), choking hazards (especially if children under the age of three are present) and heavy objects that could cause harm if dropped or thrown. If you're doing an activity which involves food, we don’t recommend you eat the food afterwards - even if it looks tasty! All children and adults should always wash their hands thoroughly before and after activities. They should wear protective clothing like goggles and oven mitts or gloves as appropriate when there are any hazards present. We recommend you take full safety precautions and do not leave your children unattended at any time.Materials List On these pages you'll find a comprehensive list of everything you need to do all 21 activities. OF course, you can just get hold of the materials for each one as you go.
