Arocs Genearal Information

This document provides information about the air filter switch (B48a) located in the air filter housing (1) of vehicle models 963 and 964. The air filter switch monitors the degree of contamination in the air filter. When the engine is running, a vacuum is created behind the air filter. As the vacuum increases with engine speed and filter contamination, the air filter switch detects when the maximum contamination level is reached and triggers a notification on the instrument cluster.

B48a Air filter switch

W09.10-A000-11

The air filter switch (B48a) is located at the air filter housing (1).

Task
The air filter switch (B48a) monitors the degree of contamination of the
air filter.

Function Above a vacuum of > approx. 50 mbar, the drive control (CPC) control
When the engine is running, a vacuum is created behind the air filter. unit (A3) uses the voltage signal of the air filter switch (B48a) to detect
The vacuum increases with the engine speed and with the degree of that the air filter has reached the maximum degree of contamination
contamination of the air filter. and triggers a message in the instrument cluster.

B1 Left 1st front axle brake wear sensor

B2 Right 1st front axle brake wear sensor

W42.25-1294-01

The brake wear sensor for the left 1st front axle and right 1st front axle
(B1, B2) are installed in the brake caliper.

Task
The brake wear sensors for left 1st front axle and right 1st front axle
(B1, B2) record the total wear of both brake linings and the brake disk.

Function
The brake wear sensor for the left 1st front axle and right 1st front axle
(B1, B2) are rotary potentiometers, which are connected mechanically
to the automatic slack adjuster in the brake caliper. They convert any
adjustment travel changes to corresponding voltage signals.
