ChatGPT Marketing Starter Kit Hey there, fellow small business owner!

I know firsthand how

overwhelming it can be to create marketing campaigns that
get results. But what if I told you that there’s a tool that can
help you generate ideas and content with just a few prompts?
Enter ChatGPT!

ChatGPT is an AI-model that can make your life a whole lot

easier when it comes to marketing. In this guide, I’ll show you
how to use ChatGPT for Facebook/Instagram ads, content
marketing, social media marketing, and email marketing.
And the best part? You don’t need to be a marketing genius
or a tech expert to make it work for you.

I’ll provide you with plenty of prompts and examples to

get your creative juices flowing. And, of course, I’ll also
give you tips for making the most of ChatGPT so you can
get more leads and sales.

So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and let’s get started!

ChatGPT can help you create attention-grabbing headlines, ad copy that speaks to your
target audience’s pain points, and calls to action that inspire action. It’s all about the
prompts you use.

The following list is made up of decisions you need to make, as well as actual prompts
that you’ll type into ChatGPT. It’s important to go in order, and use every prompt in this
sequence to get the best results.

What are some powerful or evocative words associated with

Prompt

[your product, service or offer]?

Why ask this? Some words drive more action than others. So we want to start
with some of the best ones that will elicit a positive emotional response, and
more conversions

Decision: Is your offer about solving a problem, or satisfying a desire? (In some cases, it
might be both, but problem solving is generally more compelling if you need a tie-breaker!)
Depending on what you decide, use one of the following prompts:

PROBLEM:
What problems might [your product, service or offer] solve for its
Facebook/Instagram Ads

customers, who are [your customer demographic info. Be as specific

as possible]?
Prompt

DESIRE:
What desires might [your product, service or offer] solve for its
customers who are [your customer demographic info. Be as specific as
possible]?

Why ask this? Some words drive more action than others. So we want to start
with some of the best ones that will elicit a positive emotional response, and
more conversions

Decision: Which problems or desires that ChatGPT found for you do you want the ad to
focus on? Choose as many as you think are accurate.

Decision: What is the specific offer you’re advertising? (This is optional, but highly
recommended to advertise an actual offer or promotion. For example, a 2-for-1 pizza
special for new customers is more compelling than an ad for pizza in general.)

Facebook/Instagram Ads Focus on [list the problems/desires you decided on] and using
the words you generated earlier, write 5 compelling facebook ads
headlines for [product/service]. Our ideal customers are [customer

Prompt
demographic info] and the offer is [offer].

Example: Focus on #1, 3, 5 and using the words you generated earlier, write
5 compelling facebook ads headlines for Jett’s Pizza. Our ideal customers are
busy single professionals and the offer is a 2-for-1 pizza special for first time
customers.
Prompt

I like [#s of the headlines you like]. Now write the copy to support those
headlines, using a variety of proven ad copywriting frameworks.
Write 5 versions.

You can take even this one step further, and ask it to create you
several scripts for video ads, using this last prompt:
Prompt

Now do it again, except make each a script for a 15-30 second script
to be used as a video ad. Write them in first person as the owner of
[your business name].

Creating content that resonates with your audience can be a challenge. But with ChatGPT, you
can generate topic ideas, outline articles, and even create engaging headlines in just minutes.

You’ll want to do this in 5 steps:

Content Marketing

Step 1: Brainstorm Topics

Prompt:
Give me 20 unique [content type] titles related to [your niche] in a
click-bait style

Example: Give me 20 unique video titles related to small business accounting

in a click-bait style.

Note: You don’t have to ask for a click-bait style, but in my experience this
will get you much more clickable, compelling titles than you’d get otherwise.
Up to you!

Step 2: Add all the good ones to a spreadsheet so you can keep
track of them.

Step 3: Outlining

Prompt:
Now create an outline for an article “NEW ARTICLE TITLE”. Write it as a
professional XX expert, and write it for [AUDIENCE DEMO].

Once the outline is generated, look it over to see if there are any tweaks you’d like to
request — Now’s the time!

You can ask ChatGPT to delete a section, replace something, switch the order around
— or you can just make any specific requests you want. If the outline seems too thin to
be comprehensive/long enough, request it to add in additional points at this stage.

Step 4: Writing

Prompt: Now write the [article/video script/podcast script] in a [ ] tone,

and insert personal anecdotes if they help illustrate a point. Start with the
introduction.

Once it writes your introduction, request any rewrites you need, and request the next
section:
Content Marketing

Prompt: Now write the next section

Just go like this, section by section until it’s finished.

Step 5: Make it human!

Copy/paste the drafted article (including headings) into a Google/Word doc, then
make your edits as needed. Fix errors, add in personal stories, your own thoughts, and
experiences that will take it from AI-generated to a living, breathing piece of content.

Let's get social, shall we? It's a powerful way to connect with your audience and build your
brand. But coming up with engaging social media content that gets your followers talking can
be a real challenge. That's where ChatGPT comes in!

With ChatGPT, you can create attention-grabbing social media posts that get your audience
excited and engaged, and this works equally well, no matter if you want to come up with:

• Captions for Instagram/Facebook image posts

• Tweets
• Short-form video scripts (my personal favorite!)

Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Brainstorm topics:

Prompt: Help me brainstorm 100 topics for [Instagram reels, Instagram

captions, tweets, etc] I can make for my [niche] business. They need to
speak to [customer/audience demographic specifics].

Example: Help me brainstorm 100 topics for instagram reels I can make
for my wedding photography business. They need to speak to brides in the
process of planning their weddings.
Social Media Marketing

Step 2: Put the good ones into a spreadsheet

Step 3: Writing

Working from your spreadsheet of winning topics, go one by one, using the
following prompt.

Prompt: Now write a [content type with any requirements] for [topic] with
no intro or outro, just get right into it, and prioritize unique, actionable
tips. Write it in a [ ] tone.

Social Media Marketing
Example: Now write a 15-30 second script for “3 unique ways to include
a photobooth at your wedding” with no intro or outro, just get right into
it, and prioritize unique, actionable tips. Write it in a high energy, fun,
casual tone.

Pro-tip: You can take this prompt a step further by feeding it any specific
knowledge or personal anecdotes you have. Just add this to the original
prompt: “Be sure to include…”

To continue from topic to topic, use the prompt…

Now do the same for [next topic].

Ah, email marketing. It’s the single most profitable marketing channel out
there, and it’s one of the most effective ways to stay top of mind with your
audience and turn them into paying customers.

But writing emails that get opened, read, and clicked on can be a real
challenge.

With ChatGPT, you can create both value-based and sales-focused emails that
Email Marketing

your audience will love and buy from.

Here’s how…

First, remember to always send 3-4 value emails, followed by 1 sales email.
If you get that ratio right, you’ll keep your email list engaged, and primed to
buy when the time comes.

wesmcdowell.com
Let’s tackle those value emails first. The way this works best is to simply email your list about
Value Emails your latest piece of content, whether it be an article, a podcast episode or a video.

With that content piece in mind, go through the following 3 prompts, in sequence.

Why would a [audience/customer demographic specifics] want

to [watch a video, read an article, listen to a podcast, etc] about
Prompt
“[content title or topic]”?

Example: Why would a pet owner about to go through a move want to watch
a video about “Moving With Pets: How to Keep Your Furry Friends Safe and
Happy During the Move”?

Make any edits that you need to. If anything seems off, or if it doesn’t align with the
content itself, just ask ChatGPT to change/eliminate/add anything.

Take that and write an email to [audience/customer demographic

specifics] letting them know I made this [video, article, podcast, etc],
and why they should watch it. Make it short, to the point and [specify
Prompt

tone]. And don’t give everything away, build intrigue so people want
to [watch, read, listen] to see what this is all about

Example: Take that and write an email to families about to move letting them
know I made this video, and why they should watch it. Make it short, to the point
and fun/personable in tone. And don’t give everything away, build intrigue so
people want to watch to see what this is all about.

Take the email from ChatGPT, then you might want to lightly rewrite parts of it yourself,
or you can even prompt it to add in a short story to help illustrate the point. (If you do
that, you’d then want to rework the story so it works best for you.)

After you’ve let them know about your helpful content, it’s time you let them know that if they
want to go deeper, and get even MORE help, they can get it by working with you, or buying
Sales Emails

what you’re selling them.

So here’s how to prompt ChatGPT to help you get the most out of those emails.

*Note: we’re specifically asking ChatGPT to use the PAS (pain, agitate, solution)
copywriting framework because it helps people see why they need you, and how you can
help them the best.

wesmcdowell.com
Pretend you’re an expert marketing copywriter specializing in
writing persuasive emails. Using the PAS copywriting framework,
write a sales email to [audience/customer demographic specifics]
who want/don’t want [their desire/pain point ]. We can’t wait to
speak to them and help them decide if we’re the best fit for them, and
we offer [list out your best 3 benefits]. Make it friendly, and helpful in
tone, not too salesy. Use power words, and avoid overused cliches.
The call to action is to [your call to action].
Prompt

Example: Pretend you’re an expert marketing copywriter specializing in

writing persuasive emails. Using the PAS copywriting framework, write a
sales email to families who are about to move and are considering which
moving company they want to choose. We can’t wait to speak to them and
help them decide if we’re the best fit for their move. We offer competitive
pricing, white glove packing service, and we have the best non-breakage

guarantee in the business. Make it friendly, and helpful in tone, not too
salesy. Use power words, and avoid overused cliches. The call to action is to
schedule a free consult and get them a quote.

Then, just do a light rewrite, fixing any mistakes, but it should be

mostly good to go.

You made it to the end! Congratulations, my friend. By now, you should have a good understanding of
how ChatGPT can help you streamline your marketing efforts and create high-quality content that your
audience will love.

But here’s the thing: the key to success with ChatGPT is to experiment and havefun with it. Try out different
prompts and see what works best for your unique business. Don’t be afraid to take risks and step out of your
comfort zone.

By using ChatGPT to its full potential, you’ll be able to save time and effort on your marketing campaigns and
achieve the results you’re looking for.

So go out there and create amazing content that will get your audience talking!
