1. The standard weight of a special purpose brick is 5 kg and it contains two basic
ingredients B1 and B2. B1 costs Rs. 5 per kg and B2 costs Rs. 8 per kg. Strength
considerations state that the brick contains not more than 4 kg of B1 and minimum
of 2 kg of B2. Since the demand for the product is likely to be related to the price
of the brick, find out graphically minimum cost of the brick satisfying the above

A firm manufactures two products A and B on which the profits earned per unit
are ` 3 and ` 4 respectively. Each product is processed on two machines Ml and
M2. Product A requires one minute of processing time on Ml and two minutes
on M2, while B requires one minute on Ml and one minute on M2. Machine Ml is
available for not more than 7 hours 30 minutes, while machine M2 is available
for 10 hours during any working day. Find the number of units of products A
and B to be manufactured to get maximum profit, using graphical method.

A firm plans to purchase at least 200 quintals of scrap containing high quality
metal X and low quality metal Y. It decides that the scrap to be purchased must
contain at least 100 quintals of X-metal and not more than 35 quintals of Y-metal.
The firm can purchase the scrap from two suppliers (A and B) in unlimited
quantities. The percentage of X and Y metals in terms of weight in the scraps
supplied by A and B is given below :
