 Introduction
Dealer Service Tools Download Instructions
The Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog download application is designed to provide a simple and efficient way
for dealers to find specialty products for your service center. The download can take up to 45 minutes depending
upon your bandwidth capacity and server load. When prompted to Open or Save the file, choose to Save locally and
execute the installation package from your download location.
How to Download the Dealer Service Tool Catalog
1. The Dealer Service Tool catalog is available in electronic PDF form.
2. Open your web browser and visit http://www.dstcwebservices.com/downloaddstc.htm
3. Underneath the download link you will find minimum system requirements and what’s new.
4. Click the “Download Here” link.
5. Have a location to store the file and choose to save the file locally to that directory.
6. Execute the installation by running the setup file from the location you saved it to.
Installing the Dealer Service Tool Catalog:
• The installation process may take up to 5 or 6 minutes to complete depending on your system configuration. This is
not unusual, please be patient.
• The setup is a self extracting executable. When executed the application will launch the setup and install the Dealer
Service Tool Catalog on your computer.
Minimum Hardware Requirements:
• PC with an Intel Pentium 500 MHz processor
• 128 MB RAM (256 MB or better recommended)
• Compatible VGA or other high-resolution monitor supported by MS Windows
• Mouse or other pointing device
• 1024 x 768 Resolution
• 65 MB hard drive storage
Optional:
• Internet connection to use the Web Update functionality
Supported Operating Systems:
• Windows XP (Latest Service Pack)/Windows Vista (Latest Service Pack)/Windows 7 (Latest Service Pack)
Web Update:
• Checks for updates to the Dealer Service Tool Catalog. Requires an active internet connection.
• Access through Start->Programs->Caterpillar Software->Dealer Service Tool Catalog->Web Update.
• Follow the instructions on the windows.
Catalog Download / Software Information and Support:
Please remember to disable virus protection software before starting the setup. If not, you may notice the Install-
Shield Wizard stalling at 99%. The setup is still running, just taking longer to complete.

• Reduces dealer cost by combining 9 tools into one; also provides greater convenience for technician
• Used as a blowby/airflow indicator, signal generator and counter, electronic position indicator, engine timing indi-
cator, multi-tachometer, thermometer, fuel monitor, pressure gage, and flow computer
• Provides technician with a hand-held unit with multiple diagnostic tools using a menu-driven display
• Ergonomic design has large, dual control buttons for ease of use even with gloved hands
• Large, color display is easily readable even in bright sunlight conditions
• Diagnostic Interface Module (DIM) plugs into multi-tool to adapt existing diagnostic sensors and cables
• Multi-tool uses many of the same cables and adapters used by existing tools (for this reason, purchase of new ca-
bles and adapters may not be required)
• Once a Diagnostic Interface Module (DIM) is used with a multi-tool, it should remain in use with only that multi-
tool (interchanging DIM units and multi-tool units is not recommended without sending both units to the factory

• Allows technician to measure volume of blowby gases released through crankcase breather or air velocity
through a component, such as a radiator core
• Blowby measurements provide helpful information when planning engine repairs
• Airflow measurements identify plugged or partially restricted areas
• Large blowby group checks blowby on 3500 Series and 3600 Series Engines, including ACERT™ models as well as
on larger 300 Series Engines

Signal Generator Group with Counter

• Allows technician to make frequency and amplitude adjustments simply by pushing a button

The 308-7271 Fuel Flow Meter should have the calibration checked annually. ATS (Advanced Technology Service)
can provide this service. If recalibration is required, the fuel flow meters should be returned to Flow Dynamics, the
supplier. Recalibration is required if the flow meter has been physically damaged. Improper storage and contami-
nation in the fuel can lead to physical damage to the flow meter.

Step 4. Memory Card

• Multi-tool software upgrades are available by ordering compact flash memory
cards preloaded with software
• The flash memory cards are available by ordering the appropriate part number
• The card is permanently inserted into the multi-tool CF slot

Instructions for returning the multi-tool for re-calibration to the supplier:

1. Wrap the Multi-Tool and DIM in a cushion-type packaging material, such as Bubble Wrap®.
2. Include the following information with the Multi-tool and DIM:
• Company Name
• Contact Name
• Return Address
• Service Description (Calibrate for Digital Thermometer Application)
• E-mail Address
• Telephone Number
• Dealer Name
3. Properly package the Multi-Tool, DIM, and information and send to:

June 1, 2010.
