MGB has reopened, and fresh out of hosting the World Travel and Tourism Council Global Summit, we
are setting the stage for the well-loved, and highly anticipated return of the ICONIC concert between
two prime Philippine divas.

Since you mentioned the Iconic concert, can you tell us more about it? What made you decide that this
year would be the year to bring it back to the stage?
Of course, Iconic in 2019 was really groundbreaking. The sold-out show even won the Aliw Award for
Best Collaboration in a concert. How will Iconic 2022 be different?

Are there any elements that you felt you had to retain because it was so iconic?

This year, the concert is produced by FHTC and will be staged at the lavish Marriott Grand Ballroom. Can
you tell us about your experience with creating Iconic with new collaborators?

of Gab Valenciano, can you tell our audience anything they can expect from these powerhouses in the

Live concerts are truly back in Resorts World Manila, and we are thrilled to invite you to be part of this

and nostalgia in Four Kings and a Queen.

The Four Kings of OPM – Ballad King Nonoy Zuñiga, King of Hearts aka “Kilabot ng Kolehiyala” Hajji
Alejandro, Hitmaker King Rey Valera and King Crooner aka “Crush ng Bayan” Marco Sison will be joined
by the Concert Queen Pops Frenandez as their special guest, all performing live onstage for a winning
live entertainment phenomenon.
Resorts World Manila and Full House Theater Company in partnership with DSL Events and Production
together with Dreamwings Production will be presenting this live entertainment affair showcasing these
OPM royalties in a concert aptly dubbed as Four Kings and a Queen this August 26 and 27, 2022 at the
Newport Performing Arts Theater.

Slated for a concert tour in the U.S. this June and July, the show will wrap up their tour with this two-
night performance back on our shores to enthrall local audiences.

Under the musical direction of Gerry Matias, the Four Kings and a Queen concert is all set to wow us
with a repertoire of OPM classics from the quartet of certified Hitmakers, plus a good dose of
captivating performances from the undisputed Concert Queen Pops Fernandez with her renditions of
top favorites and modern pop hits.

bring together onstage five of the country’s legendary performers for a night of music and nostalgia in
Four Kings and a Queen.

The Four Kings of OPM–Ballad King Nonoy Zuñiga, King of Hearts aka “Kilabot ng Kolehiyala” Hajji
Alejandro, Hitmaker King Rey Valera, King Crooner aka “Crush ng Bayan” Marco Sison–will be joined by
the Concert Queen, Pops Frenandez, as their special guest, all performing live onstage for a winning live
entertainment phenomenon.

LOS ANGELES, USA – I don’t get to attend concerts by Filipino artists in LA as often as I’d like to. My darn
busy work schedule always gets in the way.

So, I was happy that I recently got to watch a concert tour titled Four Kings and a Queen. In one night, I
saw five talented OPM (Original Pilipino Music) artists – Hajji Alejandro, Pops Fernandez, Marco Sison,
Rey Valera, and Nonoy Zuñiga – in one place, the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. It was a rare
chance to see again these performers, some of whom we have a personal connection.

One Sunday night (June 26), just looking and listening to the quintet in their solos, duets, and group
numbers brought back a lot of memories, many sentimental.
Listening to Marco croon some of his hits was especially poignant. Back in the early ’80s, I was a
publicity manager of WEA Records Philippines (on the side, I contributed to newspapers and magazines),
where Marco was one of the contract artists.

In an office building right in front of Sta. Cruz Church, near the world’s first Chinatown (Binondo) and
Escolta, I heard composer Nonoy Tan sing, while strumming his guitar, some of those songs that would
become Marco’s popular tunes.

As Marco was singing a couple of these ballads – “Always” and “My Love Will See You Through” – at
Saban, I was instantly transported to those days when Nonoy excitedly let us hear his compositions in
progress or tunes he just finished.

Marco would become a personal friend. We even went once on a foursome date in a disco – Marco and
Jojo Sison, Janet and me.

Seeing Marco onstage – still looking boyish, tousled hair styled the same way since his Student Canteen
amateur singing contest days – I swear the dude must have secretly found the clichéd fountain of youth!
