General ordering information

Concurrent Licensing:
All configurations of OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition sold commercially utilize a FLEXNet® (formerly known as
SubscribeNet®) licensing scheme for license registration and activation through internet or Agilent Support.

Brief product description

OpenLab CDS (editions) is available in two configurations; as OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition and as OpenLab CDS
EZChrom Edition. It is a simple upgrade from an existing ChemStation, EZChrom or OpenLab ICM system. That means that
raw data, methods and results are fully backwards compatible. Current workflows remain intact but are improved with the
new functionality in OpenLab CDS.

Overview of key functionality:

• Central administration, Lab-at-a-glance view of instrument status and remote instrument access in distributed
configuration
• Full scalability to match the evolving needs of the laboratory

whenever they want. The modules walk users through detailed steps of using the OpenLab CDS software.

 Workstation

An OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition Workstation allows control of up to four 2D LC or GC instruments or of up to two 3D
LC or CE instruments or one LC/MS instrument per workstation. Data are stored locally on the workstation PC. OpenLab
Control Panel allows managing local instruments and users and provides an overview of the status of the local instruments
(lab-at-a-glance view).

Standard Quote Process for Stand-Alone Workstation

STEP 1: Order Workstation Software

Each new OpenLab CDS Workstation requires the purchase of an OpenLab CDS Workstation Software license. The OpenLab
CDS Workstation Software license includes data analysis for 2D-LC, GC and A/D. The OpenLab CDS Workstation Software
license does not include instrument licenses or add-on licenses (such as OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on).

STEP 2: Order Instrument Driver / Instrument Control licenses

Determine the number and type of instrument licenses needed. Instrument drivers are available for all supported LC, GC
and CE systems. Order one driver license per instrument and an instrument control license for any non-Agilent instrument.
You can also order A/D driver licenses for non-controllable instruments. You can order as many licenses as needed.

STEP 3: Order additional Software and Control Options

Add additionally control options and components. This is where you would order software options such as SEC/GPC,
Headspace and PAL control. You can add as many control options as needed.

STEP 4: Order additional Services

Optionally order Agilent OpenLab CDS qualification services (Installation and Operational Qualification for OpenLab CDS
Workstation) and/or training (OpenLab CDS Training).

OpenLab CDS ChemStation Workstation Edition right-to-copy
This product includes a license to install OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition Workstation on another PC. One license per PC is
required. This product does not include licenses for instrument drivers or add-ons (e.g. OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on).
M8302AA Be sure to also order the appropriate instrument drivers, add-ons and communication hardware needed for all acquisition
types (analog or digital). If spectral data analysis capabilities are required for LC data, one OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on
(M8360AA) needs to be added per instrument. Customer must have purchased a M8301AA or M8380AA item.
Note: Phone assist, installation and familiarization must be added to the order if required.
OpenLab CDS ChemStation Workstation VL
Software and license for an OpenLab CDS ChemStation Workstation VL valid for one instrument connection only. Includes
eFamiliarization DVD. Allows to configure and control one of the following instruments per workstation. 1290 series LC
system are not compatible with VL.
• one 1120 Compact LC system or one 1220 Infinity LC system plus LC modules listed in the Appendix except
modular pumps using instrument type “Agilent 1220 LC System”. The OpenLab CDS Instrument Driver is bundled
with the instrument hardware.
• one 1260 Isocratic Infinity (II)LC system or one 1260 Quaternary Infinity (II) LC system or one 1260 Quaternary
Infinity (II) VL LC system with selected supplemental 1260 Infinity (II) LC modules using instrument type “Agilent
LC Core System”. Please refer to the Appendix for a list of possible 1260 Infinity (II) LC modules. The OpenLab CDS
Instrument Driver is bundled with M8311AA.
Please note: It is not possible to configure any binary-LC, bio-inert LC, prep LC systems, SFC, HiP-autosamplers,
M8311AA ELSD, or MS modules. Please do not offer or quote these with the OpenLab CDS VL workstation.
• one 7820 GC for OpenLab CDS VL instrument (G4350B). The OpenLab CDS Instrument Driver is bundled with the
instrument hardware.
• one 490 Micro GC for OpenLab CDS VL instrument (G3581A). For the control of the 490 Micro GC instrument
driver, you have to order the product M8238AA (OpenLab CDS Micro 490)
This product does not include licenses for add-ons (e.g. OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on). Be sure to also order the
appropriate add-ons and communication hardware. If spectral data analysis capabilities are required for LC data, one
OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on (M8360AA) needs to be added per instrument.
A one year subscription for software updates and upgrades, one year phone assist, and familiarization must be added as
options unless it is a self-installation.
M8311AA cannot be used as Data Analysis only product. OpenLab CDS ChemStation Workstation VL does not allow control
of an LC/MS system.

M8367AA existing Galaxie customers upgrading to OpenLab CDS. Includes control for Agilent 210, 218, SD1 Pump, 325 UV/VIS detector,
410 Autosampler and 440 Fraction Collector. Requires but does not include an M8500AA (OpenLab CDS Instrument Driver for
Agilent LC) license.

Instrument Control Licenses

M8300AA is required for adding non-Agilent Instrument Control Licenses to OpenLab CDS Workstation or AIC software.

Note: Secure Workstation for OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition is sold as a standalone workstation and not as a
networked workstation. If your customer needs three or more OpenLab CDS ChemStation workstations and secure data
storage, then they should consider buying ChemStation Edition in a networked environment with OpenLab Server. This will
scale for them and will provide growth as they need to add instruments.

 Networked Workstation
• An OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition Networked Workstation allows control of up to four 2D LC or GC
instruments or of up to two 3D LC or CE instruments or one LC/MS or CE/MS instrument per workstation.
• Data are stored locally on the workstation PC. Optionally OpenLab ECM or OpenLab Server can be added to the
system for central data storage.
• OpenLab Shared Services are installed centrally on a server and allow the central management of users.
• The OpenLab Control Panel provides an overview of the status of all instruments on the system (lab-at-a-glance
view). However, only those instruments installed locally on a workstation PC can be launched on that workstation.
For a Networked Workstation system, add an OpenLab CDS Shared Services Server Software (M8305AA) to your OpenLab CDS
ChemStation Edition Workstation(s).

Standard Quote Process for Networked Workstation

STEP 1: Order OpenLab Shared Services Server Software

Each new OpenLab CDS Networked Workstation system requires installation of a central OpenLab Shared Services Server
and the purchase of an OpenLab CDS Shared Services Server Software License to run it.

Note: OpenLab Server (M8620AA) includes an OpenLab Shared Services Server Software License.

STEP 2: Order Workstation Software

An OpenLab CDS Networked Workstation system requires the purchase of an OpenLab CDS Workstation Software for each
OpenLab CDS Workstation that is part of the system. The OpenLab CDS Workstation Software license includes data analysis
for 2D-LC, GC and A/D. The OpenLab CDS Workstation Software license does not include instrument licenses or add-on
licenses (such as OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on).

Note: It is NOT possible to mix both OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition Workstations and OpenLab CDS EZChrom Edition
Workstations in one OpenLab CDS Networked Workstation System.

STEP 3: Order Instrument Driver / Instrument Control licenses

Determine the number and type of instrument licenses needed. Instrument drivers are available for all supported LC, GC
and CE systems. Order one license per instrument. Note that online and offline instance of the same instrument count as
one license. You can also order A/D driver licenses for non-controllable instruments. You can order as many licenses as
needed. For OpenLab CDS EZChrom Edition for the control of non-Agilent instruments, in addition to the instrument driver
license one Instrument Control License is required per non-Agilent instrument.

STEP 4: Order additional Software and Control Options

Add additionally control options and components. This is where you would order software options such as SEC/GPC,
Headspace and PAL control. You can add as many control options as needed.

STEP 5: Order additional Services

Optionally order Agilent OpenLab CDS qualification services (Installation and Operational Qualification for OpenLab CDS
Workstation and OpenLab CDS Shared Services Server) and/or training (OpenLab CDS Training).

STEP 6 A: OpenLab ECM Workgroup or Enterprise (optional)

Optionally, OpenLab ECM (or OpenLab Server, see steps 6B & 7B) can be added to an OpenLab CDS Networked Workstation
system. For systems up to 15 instruments (and 15 users), order OpenLab ECM Workgroup for Agilent Data Systems
(G6779AA). The OpenLab ECM Workgroup for Agilent Data Systems includes three Named User Licenses and three Agilent
data system-based Instrument Licenses. Add Additional Named User Licenses (G6779AA#100) and/or additional Agilent
data system-based Instrument Licenses (G6779AA#200), depending on the system size.

STEP 1: Order OpenLab Shared Services Server

Each new OpenLab CDS Distributed System requires installation of a central OpenLab Shared Services Server and the purchase of an
OpenLab CDS Shared Services Server Software License to run it.

Note: OpenLab Server (M8620AA) includes an OpenLab Shared Services Server Software license.

STEP 2: Order Agilent Instrument Controllers (AICs)

An OpenLab CDS Distributed System requires the purchase of one or several OpenLab CDS Agilent Instrument Controller(s) (AICs). An
OpenLab CDS AIC can be software only or an OpenLab CDS AIC with hardware. The OpenLab CDS AIC software license includes data
analysis for 2D-LC, GC and A/D. The OpenLab CDS AIC software license does not include instrument licenses or add-on licenses (such as
OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on).
For an OpenLab CDS AIC with hardware, the number and type of AICs depends on the instrument cabling and the physical location of the
instruments. Example: Four LAN based LC systems on the same lab bench can share one AIC via a local switch or Hub but four LC
instruments in different laboratories should be on individual AICs. If you need any additional hardware such as cables, select these as
well.

Note: For troubleshooting purposes, it is highly recommended to have at least one Agilent OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition bundle PC
(part of M8380AA) operating as an OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition Client. This bundle PC should be kept as a reference to identify
client PC hardware-related display and performance problems.

STEP 3: Order Instrument Driver / Instrument Control licenses

Determine the number and type of instrument licenses needed. Instrument drivers are available for all supported LC, GC and CE systems.
Order one license per instrument. Note that online and offline instance of the same instrument count as one license. You can also order
A/D driver licenses for non-controllable instruments. You can order as many licenses as needed. For the control of non-Agilent
instruments, in addition to the instrument driver license one Instrument Control Licenses is required per non-Agilent instrument.

STEP 4: Order additional Software and Control Options

Add additionally control options and components. Order one option per instrument. This is where you would order software options such
as OpenLab CDS 3D UV (PDA) Add-on or OpenLab CDS CS LC 3D MS SQ Add-on, SEC/GPC, Headspace or PAL control. You can add as many
control options as needed.

Step 5: Order software maintenance contract

A Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA), which covers telephone support and access to the OpenLab CDS customer care portal, is
required for OpenLab CDS Distributed System. The contract price is calculated manually based on 18% of the overall license cost via
Product number R2045A.

STEP 6: Order implementation services

Agilent OpenLab CDS standard implementation services for installation, qualifications and training are available from Agilent PSO for
direct sales. Contact your local Laboratory Informatics Product Sales Specialist for quoting of PSO services. PSO services are quoted via
R2126A.
