V_ Enable/Disable Clip
Another useful shortcut that works for both audio AND video.
This mutes and/or makes clips visually disappear temporarily.
+ T Add Crossfade
Applies a crossfade to the audio between two selected
clips. Adding a crossfade gets rid of some of the popping
you might hear in your audio and helps your audio to «
sound a little smoother. Less start and stop, if you will.- = *ttyou don't have this key on your keyboard, look at the second page of ‘WORKING.

The grave key temporarily overrides connections when pressed. This key is essential for
working with the magnetic timeline. The following are some examples of ways fo use it.
{Override Connections
Hold down the grave key, an odd, orange icon will pop up and you're able to move any clip freely,
‘even when other media is connected to it.
P+ Override Connections with Gap replacement
8y switching to the position foo! (press P) and then holding the grave key when moving a clip, the elip's
Position will be replaced with a gap clip and connected media will stay in the same position. Be careful
though, because the placement of that clip that you're moving can end up overwriting clips depending
on where you place it

When you want to delete a clip and NOT have the connected media be deleted with it, hold the grave key,
this weird orange icon will pop up, and then press delete. Those sound effects or whatever media is attached wil
stay in that location and that selected clip will be deleted.

If you want to change the connection point of connected media, click off it and then select it while holding
the option key and the command key with your skimmer/playhead where you want the new connection point fo be.

Use this shortcut fo overwrite your clip or clips into the primary storyline.
*If you don’t see this key on your keyboard, hit ‘OPTION COMMAND K’ in FCP, click the top
left drop down menu, hit ‘duplicate’ fo create a new custom keyboard, then search
‘OVERRIDE CONNECTIONS! in the top right search bar. Select that and then hit <

Duplicates clips to Audition. Create your look, press ‘Option Y", create another look, press ‘Option Y"
and so on,
Then when your looks are made, click on your clip and press ‘Control Option and Right or Left Arrow’ to
cycle throlugh your looks.

Hold ‘Option’ and drag your media on your timeline fo create an immediate copy of the clip.

Use this to create ‘J’ and 'L' cuts. Trim your video by dragging on the beginning or end. Then add a slight
crossfade on both audio clips to help smooth out the jump from one audio clip to the next and then you
can press the shortcut again, with the clip selected, fo have it suck back up into the video clip.Thank you!
