Service Brakes

This document provides instructions for servicing the service brakes on lift trucks. It describes the components and operation of early and later brake assembly models. The procedures include removing and disassembling the brake assembly, cleaning parts, reassembling, and performing checks and adjustments. The goal is to inspect for wear and damage, replace defective parts, and adjust the brake shoes so the drum does not rotate for proper braking.

installation of the drive axles. Remove the brake drum and
hub assembly. Put a cover over the inner bearing cone to
protect it from dirt. If the brake drum cannot be easily re-
moved, loosen the brake shoes by turning the adjuster.
