CAPACITY FOR
HARD WORK
Meaning of hard working
always putting a lot of effort and care into
work:
hardworking people/families/citizens
The staff working on the unit are hard-
working and have very little time to sit at a
desk.
Can hard work beat intelligence? Always!
“Intelligence” measured by IQ is a ridiculously
over-rated parameter. I’m constantly meeting
people who are clearly more intelligent than I am
(in the IQ sense) who have had frustrating and
non-productive lives.
Off the top of my memory, I can’t think of a
single highly-intelligent individual who was
successful without very hard work. And I can
think of many who would score low on a
standard IQ test who have been very successful.
IQ measures a very narrow form of ability,
typically the ability to think abstractly and solve
abstract problems. Of course, there are many
other forms of intelligence too: intelligence in
evaluating people; intelligence in music;
intelligence in understanding complexity; real-
time intelligence (used in video games and fast-
action sports). Most of these are ignored by the
usual IQ test.
But few people have multi-dimensional
intelligence, and they must make up for that by
hard work. By hard work I don’t mean putting in
lots of hours. I mean using your intelligence (yet
another kind!) to organize and run your life.
The most productive people in the world
combine multi-dimensional intelligence
(abstract, people, complex data, real-time) with
very hard work.
Increasing Your Capacity For Hard
Work
Your capacity for work is like a muscle.
The more you work to develop it, the
more it grows. The more you develop
the capacity for work, the more you can
produce, and the greater quality.

The Rise and Fall of the Knowledge

Worker
You live in the Information Age, a time of
accelerating, disruptive change. Instead of
using your back and your hands as the
means of producing, you use your brain.
You are what Peter Drucker called a
“knowledge worker.”
One of the many challenges that
accompany being a knowledge worker is
that you define your own work. That means
you have to decide what needs done, and
much of the time, you decide when and
how it gets done. Unlike the Industrial Age,
there isn’t someone directing your efforts,
and it is rare that your slowing down shuts
down production.
Because you control much of your own
work, you also control whether or not
you work on what is important, the
urgency or pace with which you work,
and how much work you actually do. If
you work for a big company, you may be
able to get by doing very little. If you
work for any company, you can easily
find yourself distracted by the things
that look and feel like work without
actually accomplishing much of
anything.
The challenge with knowledge work is
that it can lessen your capacity for real
work.
Hard Work Must Be Channeled
Even though the capacity for hard work
is a talent itself, it doesn’t mean hard
work alone is sufficient or should be
indiscriminately applied towards
activities since one’s motivations must
accord well with those activities. I will
consider the nature of activities and
what they mean for channeling hard
work.
Meaningful Activity
Even if you have the talent for very
hard work, it is still easier to pursue it
much more intensely if you find it
deeply meaningful. Deep meaning can
provide lasting satisfaction that can
motivate you to work even harder than
simple pleasure or happiness.
Enjoyable Activity
If you find an activity intrinsically
enjoyable, then hard work may actually
not actually feel like hard work.In which
case, it might be an opportunity to push
your capacity for hard work so
that you can accomplish more or
become even better in the intrinsically
enjoyable activity.
The advice of “Do what you like” or “Do
what makes you happy” are self-
evident in that it’s easy to do what you
like or what makes you happy. The
problem is that there may be barriers
preventing you from doing them, or
that you may not understand yourself
enough to know what you actually like
or what actually makes you happy.
Easy Activity
It might be useful to consider activities
you may find naturally easy. They may
be activities that you are naturally good
at. Similar to enjoyable activities, it may
not feel like hard work so it may be
especially important to push yourself
since you can get even better or go
even further.
Tip # 2

ABILITY TO GET
THINGS DONE
WITH AND
THROUGH PEOPLE
Meaning of ability to get things done
People who get things done typically
have the motivation, initiative, and
perseverance to accomplish their goals.
They have the self-discipline to stay
focused on their tasks, develop
strategies for success, and take action
to complete them in a timely and
functional manner.
Importance of getting things done
1. Enhances Productivity: Getting
things done on time boosts
productivity by creating a sense of
accomplishment, allowing you to move
on to other tasks.
2. Promotes Self-Confidence: Seeing
the tasks you have completed increases
your belief in yourself, helping you feel
confident and capable of taking on
bigger and better challenges.
3. Improves Control Over Life: Taking
care of your responsibilities gives you
control, letting you dictate how it all
plays out rather than being at the
mercy of outside forces.
4. Demonstrates Responsibility and
Dedication: Getting things done shows
that you take your obligations seriously
and are dedicated enough to stay
organized and proactive in handling
them responsibly.
5. Reduces Stress Levels:
Accomplishing tasks quickly
reducesstress because worries about
looming deadlines dissipate as they
come closer, leading to more peace of
mind throughout the day.

Getting things done examples

Getting Things Done (GTD) is a time
management methodology created by
productivity consultant David Allen. It
provides a structured approach to
organizing and tracking tasks and
projects, leading to improved
productivity, reduced stress levels, and
more free time.
6 essential steps for getting things
done
1. Set Goals: Establishing your goals is
the first step to effectively getting
things done. Identify what you need
and want to accomplish, considering
timelines and resources needed for
each task or goal.
2. Break It Down: Take an item from
your list of goals and break it down into
smaller, more manageable tasks. Make
sure these tasks are attainable within
the set timeline so that reaching the
completion of the goal doesn’t look too
overwhelming.
3. Prioritize: Mark each task in order of
priority and importance so that you can
stay organized with what needs to be
done first and last for each goal or
project on your list and know which has
a quick turnaround time versus which
will take longer to complete.
4. Schedule A Time Frame: Scheduling a
time frame allows you to plan without
feeling overwhelmed by deadlines
while also allowing yourself some
wiggle room with other commitments
or projects outside the given project
list on your “to-do” list.
5. Utilize Reminders & Alerts: Utilizing
reminders & developing alerts can help
keep track of any looming deadlines or
pressing appointments.
6. Commit To Your Plan: Follow
through on all those steps consistently
by setting aside a certain period of time
daily (or weekly) dedicated to
completing items found on your “To-Do
List” to ensure progress towards
accomplishing them successfully over
time.
What is the purpose of getting things
done flowchart?
A Getting Things Done Flowchart aims
to provide an effective and organized
system for managing tasks. It helps
people prioritize their work and stay on
track while ensuring they efficiently
utilize their time.
The flowchart makes it easy to track
progress, schedule tasks, set goals and
deadlines, create reminders, review
previous tasks and projects, categorize
items for better organization, eliminate
distractions, delegate responsibilities
where necessary, and establish regular
review cycles. By breaking down
multiple tasks into smaller components
with achievable goals in mind, this
chart can be a powerful tool for
improving productivity.
Tip # 3

GOOD
APPEARANCE
Meaning Of Appearance In Success
Probably the most important aspect of
personal appearance is that it reveals
how people feel about themselves.
Self-confidence is crucial to success,
and well-groomed people look
confident even if they may not always
feel it.
How Appearance Relates to Success
“Clothes make the man” is an old
adage coined by someone who
understood the correlation between
personal appearance and success. Over
the years, other expressions have
become popular to make the same
point: “Dress for success” is sound
advice for anyone going on a job
interview. During their training
sessions, salesmen, who rely on their
image and communication skills to
make a living, are advised that they
need to look successful if they want to
be successful.
Dressing for Success
Successful people tend to look
successful. Business attire or “business
casual” is the standard we expect of
them. The important thing for women
to remember is to steer clear of
provocative clothing that would be
better suited to the beach or a night
club. Many men have become sloppy
about their clothing, wearing baggy
pants and oversized t-shirts, so they
need to remember that an unkempt
look makes a disastrous impression on
people who care about personal
appearance.

First Appearances
All of us make judgments about people
based on their appearance. People who
proclaim their individuality by refusing
to conform to accepted standards of
personal appearance only set
themselves up for failure and self-
delusion.
It may be unfair to judge people by
their appearance, but this is the way
humans instantly evaluate each other,
and if people who proclaim the
injustice of this were to be completely
honest with themselves, they would
realize that they are no different from
the rest of us when it comes to making
judgments about people based on first
impressions.
“You only have one chance to make a
good first impression.”The truth of this
adage has been revealed in studies
about the way people communicate.
Most people make judgments about
new acquaintances within the first few
seconds of interaction. Appearance is
almost everything at this point because
there hasn’t been time to reveal much
else. To make a good first impression, it
is important to wear attractive,
appropriate clothing and be well-
groomed, and remember that a smile is
the expression that puts people at ease.
Attractiveness
Attractiveness can be powerful and
provide an individual with many personal
and professional advantages. People who
are considered attractive are often
perceived as more confident, which can
play a large part in expanding social
circles and forming connections.
Attractive individuals may also find it
easier to date or find potential romantic
partners. Professionally, being attractive
can help with good impressions, more
promotions, and more opportunities
overall. You probably aren't aware that
talent vs hard work is a widely debated
topic among many, and that attractive
people are sometimes more successful.
Physical attractiveness is not the sole
indicator of success, however. An
individual’s confidence level, personal
style, and lifestyle habits can all play an
important part in using attractiveness to
their advantage. Prioritizing self-
acceptance can lead to feeling more
attractive and safe in all aspects of life.
Advantages of Attractiveness
Attractiveness does have its
advantages, however. Attractive people
are more likely to feel confident, which
can benefit many areas of life. A
confident individual may be more likely
to try a new activity or apply for a
promotion at work.
Time cites research from Jacyln Wong of the
University of Chicago and Andrew Penner of the
University of California at Irvine, which “used
info from a long-running national study of more
than 14,000 people to look at the association
between attractiveness and income. In the
surveys, the interviewers asked people a variety
of questions about their income, job, education,
personality, and other attributes. Interviewers
also rated their interviewees on how attractive
and how well-groomed they appeared. Like past
studies, the research showed that attractive
people tended to earn higher salaries. But that
wasn’t all. Their research suggested that
grooming—practices such as applying makeup
and styling hair and clothing—was actually
what accounted for nearly all of the salary
difference for women of varying
attractiveness.”
Tip # 4

SELF
CONFIDENCE
Meaning Of Self Confidence
It means you accept and trust yourself
and have a sense of control in your life.
You know your strengths and weakness
well, and have a positive view of
yourself. You set realistic expectations
and goals, communicate assertively,
and can handle criticism.

Believe
in
Yourself
What is Self-Confidence?
Self-confidence is a deep-seated belief
that you have the knowledge, skills, and
drive to create your desired results.
It’s the faith that you are ready for all of
life’s experiences and have what it
takes to achieve a successful outcome
in any situation – even those that may
deliver a different result than you had
anticipated.
When you have high self-confidence,
you’re more likely to take risks and
embrace opportunities, which will
inevitably lead to greater rewards.
That’s why self-confidence is a trait
that all highly successful people have in
common.
Confidence Prepares You for Success
Without high self-confidence and self-
esteem, there is very little opportunity
for success.
Confidence gives you the necessary
skills and coping methods to handle
setbacks and failure in your personal
and professional life, so you can roll
with the punches and adapt to
whatever life throws at you.
Self-confidence also empowers you to
show up in the world as the highest
possible version of yourself. This makes
it easier for you to attract the people,
resources, and opportunities you need
to succeed in everything you do.
Self-Confidence Helps You Be a
Better Leader
If you dream of becoming a leader in
your organization or field, self-
confidence is required. Your self-
confidence and clear trust in your own
judgment are what will inspire people
to buy into your ideas and follow your
lead to bring your ideas to life.
Just be sure that your self-confidence
and self-esteem don’t get in the way of
humility!
True leaders are willing to listen to the
ideas of others and adapt their plans as
necessary when new information
comes to light. They understand that
the true purpose of a leader is to
encourage others to show up as their
best selves then step back and let their
teams shine.
Self-confidence is crucial to success, and well-groomed
people look confident even if they may not always feel it.
Confidence in personal appearance will help to
compensate for other insecurities and help to build
confidence.

Give Up the Words “I Can’t”

“I can be changed by what happens to
me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.”
-Maya Angelou
To develop maximum levels of self-
confidence and self-esteem, you must
give up the phrase “I can’t” and all of its
cousins, such as “I wish I were able to.”
The words “I can’t” disempower you and make
it impossible for you to feel confident in your
ability to meet life’s challenges and achieve
your goals. These confidence-depleting words
can actually make you physically weaker
when you say them. Your brain is designed to
solve any problem and reach any goal that
you give it, and the words you think and say
affect your ability to do so.
Tip # 5

SOUND
DECISION
MAKING SKILLS
Meaning Of Sound Judgment And
Decision making
Sound judgment and decision-making
can be defined as one's ability to
objectively assess situations or
circumstances using all the relevant
information and apply past experience
in order to come to a conclusion or
make a decision.
Problem-solving and decision-making
skills are crucial for individuals and
teams in any workplace. The ability to
identify and analyze problems,
generate and evaluate potential
solutions, and make effective decisions
can lead to successful outcomes and a
positive work environment. In this
article, we will explore the importance
of problem solving and decision
making skills for people's development
and teambuilding, provide real-world
examples, and offer insights on
developing and enhancing these skills.
Importance of Decision-Making Skills
Decision-making skills are essential for
individuals and teams, particularly in an
IT company where complex problems
and decisions are expected. These skills
enable individuals and groups to
identify and analyze problems,
generate and evaluate potential
solutions, and make effective decisions
that lead to successful outcomes.
Moreover, these skills help individuals
and teams work collaboratively,
enhance critical thinking, and foster a
positive work environment.
Real-World Examples of Decision-
Making Skills
Project Management
Effective project management requires
strong problem-solving and decision-
making skills. Project managers must be
able to identify potential problems,
assess the impact of those problems,
and make decisions that will keep the
project on track. For instance, if a
project is running behind schedule, a
project manager may need to reassign
tasks, allocate additional resources, or
adjust the timeline to ensure successful
completion.
Developing and Enhancing Problem-
Solving and Decision-Making Skills
decision-making skills are like any
other; they improve with practice.
Individuals and teams can develop and
enhance their problem-solving and
decision-making skills by engaging in
activities that require critical thinking,
such as puzzles, brainstorming
sessions, and case studies.
Training
IT companies can offer training
programs focusing on problem-solving
and decision-making skills. These
programs can provide individuals and
teams with the tools and techniques to
identify and analyze problems,
generate and evaluate potential
solutions, and make effective decisions.
Tip # 6

EDUCATION
Meaning of education
1. the act or process of imparting or
acquiring general knowledge,
developing the powers of reasoning
and judgment, and generally of
preparing oneself or others
intellectually for mature life.
2. the act or process of imparting or
acquiring particular knowledge or
skills, as for a profession.
Do we really Need Education to be
Successful?
Education is the root of any success.
And I believe education has played a
major role since ancient times. For
some people, education is just a form
of getting a degree but here we all get
wrong because education makes you
stand in society, make a difference in
what is wrong and write, and make a
value judgment as well. Education has a
wider scope where you learn about
history, science, general knowledge,
etc. It gives us to view the world from a
different perspective too.
Education is a technique to train your
mind and to find the solution but every
problem doesn't have the same
solution, in that case, skills, method,
attitude, and your experience matters
education doesn't though with
education many got success to be there
are some who didn't.
For example in business, it doesn't
require a degree it requires a technique
to make the investors trust the
company, to get the company no1. So,
lastly, most of people say education is
important to be well settled but it's not
true, so do choose the correct path.
Don`t Forget

Education is the
key to success
Tip # 7

AMBITION
DRIVE
Meaning f Ambition drive
A very great desire to do or achieve
something
If you have an ambition to do or
achieve something, you want very
much to do it or achieve it
Ambition helps motivate us
One reason many people fail to
achieve their goals is because of the
hard work involved. But ambition
comes with a strong desire to succeed,
no matter what it takes. For many
ambitious people, their ambition is
what keeps them moving forward, even
when they face challenges and
setbacks.
Why is ambition important?
Despite its sometimes negative
connotation, ambition is a key
ingredient for many types of success.
The importance of ambition becomes
clear when we think about all the
positive attributes it drives and
contributes to.
Ambition helps us achieve goals
It's not always easy to set goals and
work toward them. Identifying goals is
challenging on its own. Then achieving
them takes patience, perseverance, and
continued hard work
This means many people give up before
the finish line.
But ambition provides the internal
drive that can help work toward long-
term goals — and continue to set new
goals once you've achieved initial
success.
Ambition helps motivate us
One reason many people fail to achieve
their goals is because of the hard work
involved. But ambition comes with a
strong desire to succeed, no matter
what it takes. For many ambitious
people, their ambition is what keeps
them moving forward, even when they
face challenges and setbacks. The
intrinsic motivation that accompanies
ambition keeps them on track.
As any ambitious person can attest, no
path to success is free of roadblocks.
There will always be setbacks —
whether they're your own shortcomings
or totally outside your control.
Tip # 8

ABILITY TO
COMMUNICATE
Meaning Of Communication
Communication is defined as the ability
to convey or share ideas and feelings
effectively. Several experts agree that
communication skills include:
Conveying messages without
misinterpretation or misleading others.
Effectively communicating with a range
of people from all walks of life.
Some examples include
communicating new ideas, feelings or
even an update on your project.
Good communication can make the
difference between confident, motived
employees and an unproductive team
with low morale. It builds thriving
relationships and gives people the
information they need to contribute to
the success of the business.
Why Communication Skills Are Vital
to Career Success
Nearly every job posting contains the
words “strong communication skills” or
“effective communication skills.” Good
communication improves clarity in the
exchange of concepts, knowledge, and
ideas while reducing ambiguity or
misunderstanding. This can affect
businesses in a number of ways. For
example, knowing how to communicate
in the right manner to the right
audience in a company can help create
a more cohesive workforce.
Communicating honestly and
transparently can also foster a sense of
trust and positivity, which increases
work satisfaction and improves morale.
Additionally, creating a culture of
strong communication can help
improve the exchange of ideas,
potentially leading to increased
creativity and innovation.
Effective communication is important
to career success because leaders who
build a culture of positive
communication can help a business
reach its goals with greater efficiency,
produce satisfied workers and improve
brand identity — all of which can
translate to their own success.
Improve communication skill
The best messages are often simple.
There’s no value in delivering any kind
of communication, whether written,
verbal, formal, or casual, if the message
doesn’t come across clearly.
Communicating concisely — while
maintaining interest and including
everything your team needs to know —
is a high-level communication skill.
1. Keep your audience in mind
Your audience will naturally be more
interested and engaged when you tailor
your communications to their interests.
Piquing their interest by speaking
directly to what matters to them will
naturally engage their desire to
understand and interact with the
information.
2. Don’t use 10 words when one will
do
Even the most engaged and committed
audience will eventually get bored.
Keeping your message simple and
concise will make it easier to
understand and retain. Remember, you
already know what you’re going to say,
but they’re hearing it for the first time.
Keep it simple.
3. Consider the best method to
deliver your message
If the information you’re conveying
isn’t urgent, consider sending an email
or a memo.
6. Make eye contact
If you’re wondering whether or not your
message is getting across, few metrics
provide as much feedback as eye
contact. You can easily tell if the
person you’re speaking to is
understanding you, is distracted,
worried, or confused — much of which
is lost in digital communication.
Final thoughts on effective
communication strategies
As a leader and manager, you have
tremendous power to set the tone for
how your team communicates. While it
can be easy to fall into bad
communication habits, especially when
transitioning to an increasingly digital
interface, a shift in the way one
individual communicates can open the
doors for a radical shift throughout an
entire workplace. Building effective
communication skills takes time, but
the effects are worth the effort at every
level of your organization.
Tip # 9

STRONG
MIND-SET

Meaning Of Strong Mind-Set

Someone who is strong-minded is
determined and unwilling to change
their opinions and beliefs: You'll have
to be strong-minded if you're going to
push the changes through. Synonym.
strong-willed.
Success is the direct outcome of your
thoughts
Some people believe that talent or
maybe luck can make people successful
but success is nothing but our response
to new situations.
You can know how to explore, welcome
new experiences, and appreciate
challenges if you have a growth
mentality.
Otherwise, you’ll be constantly
concerned with falling short of your
goals.
Do you want to train your mind to be
successful? The first step is to practice
understanding new concepts without
fear of making mistakes.
Now let’s dive into the types of
mindset.
Types of Mindset
Growth Mindset
As the name may suggest, the growth
mindset describes itself in the process
of growth.
Fixed Mindset
Fixed Mindset is identifying everything
solely as talents. A person with a fixed
mindset regards their failure as a
boundary. This philosophy presents
intelligence as a key concept to
success.
Why Mindset Matters for Your
Success
Your mindset plays a critical role in how
you cope with life's challenges. In
school, a growth mindset can
contribute to greater achievement and
increased effort.
When facing a problem such as trying
to find a new job, people with growth
mindsets show greater resilience. They
are more likely to persevere in the face
of setbacks while those with fixed
mindsets are more liable to give up.
Fixed mindsets, Dweck explains, tend to
create a need for approval. "I've seen
so many people with this one
consuming goal of proving themselves
in the classroom, in their careers, and in
their relationships," Dweck explains in
her book Mindset. "Every situation calls
for a confirmation of their intelligence,
personality, or character. Every
situation is evaluated: Will I succeed or
fail? Will I look smart or dumb? Will I be
accepted or rejected? Will I feel like a
winner or a loser?"
Growth mindsets, on the other hand,
result in hunger for learning. A desire to
work hard and discover new things. To
tackle challenges and grow as a person.
When people with a growth mindset try
and fail, they tend not to view it as a
failure or disappointment. Instead, it is
a learning experience that can lead to
growth and change.
The last lesson
Everything possible in the world,
but condition is
