STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as Shamoil Tariq, a determined student who yearns to pursue his
MSc in Health Promotion and Public Health from Ulster University. I am a passionate, aspiring and hard-
working student who would undertake any challenges to achieve his goals.

Northern Ireland is known for its high-quality education system, with several highly ranked universities
and colleges offering a wide range of courses and programs. Students who study in Northern Ireland can
benefit from the country's rich history and culture, as well as its stunning natural beauty. Northern
Ireland is home to numerous cultural and historic sites, including the Giant's Causeway, Belfast City Hall,
and the Titanic Belfast museum. Moreover, Northern Ireland has a welcoming and friendly environment,
and international students are warmly welcomed. In addition, Northern Ireland is a relatively affordable
place to live, and study compared to other parts of the UK, with a lower cost of living and lower tuition
fees. This makes it an attractive option for students looking to study abroad on a budget. The Belfast
Campus of Ulster University is one of the largest university campuses in Northern Ireland. University is
well-known in the UK for its distinctive teaching methods, with excellent research resources to make it
one of the best educational institutions in the country. The faculty is well recognized and will provide
current and upcoming Public Health insight. Its cutting-edge facilities, professionalism, research, and
development help students get ready for successful careers.

I have a degree in veterinary medicine. This degree will improve my knowledge also after acquiring this
degree I'll be able to educate techniques which could help prevent and control new zoonotic diseases
which were kept unreported for years due of administration of public health sector. I want to make it
sure that meat, dairy and poultry farm industry according to international standards must have disease
free environment and must have high yielding of meat, milk and eggs. Because I'll gain an international
perspective which could help our nation to fight with difficult situations like Lumpy Skin Disease which
very recently out broke and caused loss of animals in dairy and meat farms. Besides all, this course will
encourage and boost my employability and. As the loss of animal lives for last 2 decades were
unreported due of unavailability of public health administration in Livestock and poultry industry made
our current government to demand Veterinarians with this degree. In Pakistan, Public Health is
increasingly in demand because of their involvement in all areas of public health, including
epidemiology, environmental health, global health, infectious disease investigation and control, and
homeland security.

This course is also offered in Pakistan in many medical Universities. But there are several reasons why I
did not choose Pakistan. One of the main reasons is the impractical approach in education system of
Pakistan. There are many researchers in Pakistan's higher education sector, and even though the
majority of them earned their degrees there, they do nothing to advance the nation's healthcare
infrastructure. The present promotion criteria used by the Higher Education Commission provide little to
no attention on quality and instead place a strong emphasis on quantity. Additionally, co-operation
between universities and a practical approach to research are absent in Pakistan's educational
advancement.
I chose the United Kingdom as my study destination because it is among the most popular study
destinations worldwide, with excellent educational and professional prospects for international
students. It provides the ideal balance of strong academic standards, cultural diversity, and

entertainment. Students can gain valuable work experience and extend their personal and professional
networks in a variety of ways. The United Kingdom is also noted for welcoming visitors and for having
one of the world's most diverse populations. As a result, students studying in the United Kingdom will
grow academically as well as socially. UK learning experience allows students to live independently and
enables the development of intellectual skills and empowers students with creative and effective
thinking which is later recognized by employers all around the world as the qualities needed to meet the
requirements of the global economy. It is a safe, friendly, sophisticated, and yet harmonious society with
cultural diversity and a high standard of living, in which we can learn and travel. As an international
student, I can expect to live, learn, and grow in a well-developed country having a lot of opportunities.

The first purpose is obviously to reach at NQF Level 7 and achieve MSc degree. Secondly, I have almost 7
years of field experience in health sector, and I have reached at Manager level, but I cannot be
proceeded or achieve at higher post because I do not have Master’s degree. So, there is a constraint
that needs to be overcome. I can do master’s degree from Pakistan as well and reach at NQF Level 7 but
there is huge career progression difference from those who have foreign degree. In Pakistan institutes
are offering very good packages to all foreign graduates and I can easily become country or regional
manager in Pakistan in my organization, that is why I decided to re-join education at this career stage.

My goal is to improve my confidence and turn every one of my weaknesses into strengths so that I can
improve the current health situation in my nation. I feel confident that with an international degree
from a reputable institution, I will have a successful job as a Public Health Doctor in Pakistan at reputed
organizations such as Edhi Foundation, Indus Hospital and serve my nation with my full potential. I
believe that my traits such as discipline, empathy, adaptability, and an unquenchable thirst for
knowledge will help me become an active agent of change in the future too. I promise to study diligently
while observing all the rules and guidelines for overseas students, both at my university and in the UK.
