Plagiarism is a form of cheating. It is taking and using someone else’s thoughts or writings and
representing them as your own. Plagiarism is a serious act and may result in a participant’s exclusion
from a Unit of Competency or a course. This in turn may require for students to pay to re-complete the
module or course at a later date.
The following list outlines some of the activities for which a participant can be accused of plagiarism:
1. Presenting any work by another individual as one’s own unintentionally
2. Handing in assessments markedly similar to or copied from another student
3. Presenting the work of another individual or group as their own work.
4. Handing up assessments without the adequate acknowledgement of sources used,
including assessments taken totally or in part from the internet.

Many of the workbook activities are ‘open book ’ yet should still be conducted under test
conditions without consultation with other students. If you are unsure of any assessment requirements
you should check with your Trainer / Assessor.
By submitting this assessment electronically you declare that all work for assessment tasks submitted for
this assessment is your own with no part of any assessment being copied/plagiarised from another
person’s work, except where authorised and listed / referenced.

Subject: Extension Project - Alternative Ramp Solution

Dear Mr Johnson,

I hope this email finds you well. I have reviewed the plans for the extension you are planning to add to your house
and I have identified a potential problem regarding the length of the wheelchair ramp.

Based on the Finished Floor Level (FFL) of 42.635m and the exterior ground level of 42.32m, there are is a height
differential of 315mm. According to the Australian Standard requirements, the length of the ramp should be at least
14 times the height differential. This means that the ramp should be longer than 4.41 (14*0.315m)meters.

Considering the limited available space on the block, it seems that a ramp of this length may not fit. Therefore, I
would like to propose an alternative solution that will still meet the NCC/BCA requirements for accessibility.

Instead of a straight ramp, we can design a ramp start from the rear of the extension, with a 1.2m wide landing to
ensure a smooth connection between the extension and the garden. To accommodate the required ramp length, the
ramp will be configured in an L-shape, extending 4.41 meters along the side of the house. The ramp will have a
gradual incline, ensuring safe and easy access for wheelchair. Handrails will be installed on both sides of the ramp to
offer additional support and safety. Wide doorframe and sliding doors will be incorporated into the design, making it
easier for wheelchair access and mobility within the extension.

With this alternative solution, we can ensure that your relative’s needs are met while complying with all NCC/BCA
requirements and Australian Standards regarding accessibility and mobility access. The L-shaped ramp will
effectively provide the necessary length to meet the 14 times height differential rule.

To proceed with this project and ensure that all legal requirements are met, I recommend using a contract the
complies with the necessary legislation, such as the contract outline in the “2014 _05_12_Tradies and
Renovators_Guide_to_Good_Access”. By using this contract, both parties will have a clear understanding of their
rights and responsibilities and ensure a successful extension project.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any further questions or concerns, I am committed to ensure inv that
the extension meets your requirements while complying with all necessary regulations.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to our continued collaboration.

Best regards.

Ting Li
