LEARNING OBJECTIVE By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students played a game to review vocabulary related previous

lesson.
LESSON DELIVERY Grammar (Student Book page 113)
1.Students read the first example and they are asked Do the
neighbours usually mow the lawn themselves? No, they don't. A
gardener does it for them. Students are explained that the
Causative Form is used when we do not do something ourselves,
but we arrange for someone else (usually an expert) to do it for us.
Students pay attention to the words in bold in the first example
and explain to students how it is formed: subject + have + object
past participle. 2.Students read the second example. Students are
pointed out that get can be used instead of have but get is more
informal. We form the negative and interrogative form of the
Causative using the verb have/get and an auxiliary verb.
3.Students read the first and third example and tell why the agent
(by a gardener, by decorators) is included in each sentence. We use
by + agent when we want to emphasise who is doing the action.
Students refer to the Grammar Reference (pp. 167-168).
4.Students come up with their own examples. Students find an
example of the Causative Form in the text. Students read through
the sentences 1-6 below the grammar box and check
understanding.
Students do the activity. The answer checked with the class.
POST LESSON Students practice the third condition. For example, create a story
where someone has a disastrous day. Then students asked to make
sentences about the story. For example: If Aidan had got up earlier,
he wouldn’t have needed to run for the bus. When ready, collect
responses.
