For your better operation of the machine: - Page 40 2002/8Win Order to Operation this Machine Safely Dear Customers, First of all, we would like to thank you for purchasing our automatic drill re-sharpener, the BDG-13. This operator’s manual will help you to master the operation of our machine Before starting to use this machine, please read this manual carefully and understand the contents. In order to operation this machine safely, please operate the machine using only the directions in thismanual. Incorrect operation of this machine can cause accident or injury, or may cause damage to property or the machine itself. @iirong operation may cause accident or injury. There are three different type of danger and damage are identified as follows A Danger: If operation is not correct, serious injury can occur AN Warning: If operation is not correct, serious injury might occur. A Caution: If operation is not correct, injury or machine trouble might occur. @0ther indications Caution: This indicates the caution during operating the machine Information: This indicates the information during operating-the machine Reference: This indicates reference pages or the items. “For the purpose of increased safety and better quality, the specifications and external appearance are subject to change without prior notice “Please check the Guarantee documents enclosed with the product “If thore is any unclear point, incorrect information or the matters failed to be written in this manual, please contact our company.Danger If cutting chips are accumulated in the dust hose of the machine, the dust machine and dust hose, there is a danger of fire due to the sparks from the drilling. Always clean the machine and remove cutting chips. 1. Turn off the power switch of the machine and wait for the wheel to stop completely before cleaning the cutting chips. 2, Remove the cutting chips in the wheel cover responding to the frequency of usage since cutting chips are apt to accumulate inside the wheel cover. 3. Detach the dust hose inside the machine and remove cutting chips from time to tine 80 that cutting chips are not accumulated. 4. "Detach the hose of the dust machine and renove cutting chips from time to time so that cutting chips are not accumulated. 5. Detach the filter of the dust machine, tray for cutting chips regularly and renove ‘the cutting chips, responding to the frequency of the usage. 6. Since if the drilling is excessive, more sparks occurs, Be careful of the excessive drilling. 7, If a blunt wheel is used for drilling, it may cause abnormal heating of the machine. Bxohange the wheel in such a case. There are rough dust box, nonflammable duct hose for a measure against fires as optional parts. Please contact our sales representative for the details.IDanger| Setting location Set the machine on a horizontal and firm platform, When moving the machine, hold the base portion of the machine, being careful not to catch your fingers in the machine. : When moving this machine, more than two people are required. The machine weighs around 65kg. Clothes, protective clothe and tools Do not wear a tie or an opened cuff shirt, Long hair should be capped or pulled back. If the moving parts such as the hatch or the chuck of the machine catches you while working, there is a possibility of serious injury. Wear protective clothes and tools such as gloves and protective safety glasses during the operation. Stop the machine innediately when you encounter a strange sound, smell or smoke. If smoke occurs from the machine, turn off the power switch and pulled off the plug immediately and contact your nearest, 0$G Representative. Do not put clothes, tools, and parts inside the heteh and drill holders After setting a drill in the machine, close the hatch of the machine, Do not open the hatch while the machine is being operated. If you have any troubles, turn off the power switch, and then open the hatch, In this case, the wheel rotates for about 4 minutes through inertia. Do not operate the machine in the condition where the cabinet or the hatch ere removed. Do not put anything on the cabinet. Since this machine vibrates a little while the operation, if you put something on the cabinet, it may drop off from the cabinet. Do not use the drills, tools, or blades, ete. with diameters that do not fit the specifications of the machine, since it may cause injury to the operator or damage to . the machine. There is possibility of a fire due to the sparks from grinding, therefore, please use a dust box with the dust machine.After operation After grinding a drill, the wheel rotates through inertia for about 4 minutes. Please be careful when you pick up the drill fron the chuck. It would be very dangerous if your clothes or fingers are caught in the machine. Maintenance Perforn maintenance only after turning off the pover switch and unplugging the machine. Do you splash water on the machine. It may cause electric shook or danage to the machine. Clean up the machine so that the cutting chips is not accumulated in the dust intake hose inside the machine and the hose of the dust machine, There is a danger of fire ocourring the cutting chips due te sparks during drilling. arning Place the machine more than 10cm from the wall or other equipment. 0 not cover the vent at the rear of the machine. It may cause damage or fire dué to je sure to place the machino away from the following places: Busty areas, an unstable Location where vibration occurs, a location that is exposed to lirect sunshine, a location whore water or chemicals may splash, or near heat generating Se 7 chine such as 2 stove, a location where flammable gas is generated | Before operation _ Please check the machine and the surrounding environnent thoroughly before the operation, and Confirm that the wheel and the motor are rotating smoothly and vibration does notDo not operate the machine while under the influence of alcohol or drugs During the thunder or lightening storms, please unplug. There is a possibility that the machine may be damaged while thunder bolts occur near the machine. Do not use the machine when a young child is around the machine. Do not place anything on the cabinet, or not place the machine under excessive force. ‘There is a possibility of dropping of the object, damage or discoloration of the cabinet. Please use this machine with general dust machine without fail. ‘The attachment pipes for rear section of this machine with 932mm and 675na outside diameter are attached. During operation Do not use:this machine with the cloth on the cabinet. There is a possibility of fire or damage to the machine due to temperature rise inside the machine. Although this machine generates heat while the power switch is ON, it is not an abnormal condition. However, if it is too hot to touch the machine with bare hands, stop using the machine. After operation ‘Turn off the power switch when finishing grinding Detach the drill after drilling every time when finishing grinding. Pay enough attention to each section of the hatch or cabinet when detaching the drill Caution During operation Do not loosen the cutting point angle fixed lever during grinding. It will cause damage to the machine and will break the drill. Set the point angle before starting the grinding operation. ‘The point angle should be same as the angle of the original grinding drill. Brror in entering the point angle will cause the sensor not to work and the drill will be ground improperly. Be sure to remove the dust from the machine using a vacuum cleaner during operation. Remove the cutting chips inside the hose every day, because cutting chips may be accumulated inside the hose in spite of dust cleaning. _ Wipe off the cutting oil attached at the drill completely.Tf cutting oi] is attached et the sensor Limit switch, it may cause malfunction, The following drills can not be re-sharpened. Obrills which has over 200nn full Length (Sone taper-shank drills with less than 20Gan full length) Obrilis with less than 40mm full length (Less than 30mm when collet is used) Obrills with point angle less then 118° and greater than 140° Obrills with less than 43.0 diameter and greater than $13.0 diameter. OBurnt drill or drill with chipped blade Maintenance Renove chips periodically, using a brush of vacuum cleaner, Excessive chips inside the machine will cause improper operation. When cleaning the chips inside tho machine with air blow, wear a mask and glasses for protection. Use watered cloth to clean the cabinet of the machine when it gets dirty, then wipe the cabinet with dry cloth. Do not use organic solvents, etc. such as thinner or benzene. Do not use a hard brush to clean the machine, since it will make scratch or cause denage to the machine Do not renove or disassemble any parts unless instructed by this manual, Please uso the brush provided for cleaning the sensor section. Moving and transportation Clamp the drill chuck with the attached isolite for moving or transportation. If not clauped, it may cause troubles of the machine.1, Names of components ( 1 2 Front side) Power switch Base Hold base for installation or moving. The power switch will be turned OFF aswell. To cancel, turn it clockwise to turn on the power switch again. (Back side) eo - Point angle indicator 118° to 140° (1° for a scale) © - Point angle fixed lever ‘This lever fixes the point angle. To change the point angle, loosen it. Nozzle for the dust machine Attach a $32nm or @75mm hose for dust machine. Vent(Inside of the Hatch) on o- Fiber Do not bend. Sensor amplifier Do not change the setting. Sensor To be used to detect the cutting edge po: Wheel cover Drill chuck Air nozzle Adjusts cooling air at the cutting edge. Chuck lever (Pour levers at front side) To fasten and remove a drill, grip and turn this lever. ‘Turn right to tighten and turn left to Loosen it. (Operation panel) 1. Display 2. OSG RDG-13 Check to make sure that nothiig strange Origin Set is side the machine Origin ® Turn on the power switch Check that the white pilot lamp is on and the initial screen appears on the panel Origin set Be sure to ground the machine Please Wait a minute @ Origin return Press “Origin” on the touch panel to check the origin return : : ‘he soreen changes fron “Under confimmation Dia 8mm 2° Auto of origin return” to Main screen, Amt 0.2mm 30° Sta ach shaft confirms the origin return 0, . automatically 20% R 1Time Save/loa Change Do not confirm origin return with a drill on the machine. B‘The cutting edge can be cooled by air. Normally, while the machine is OFF condition, the electromagnetic valve opens end air comes out when the wheel start rotation. Air stops when the wheel stops. @onnection of cooling air for the cutting edge There is a coupler attachnent brass screw under the duct outlet on back side of the machine Screw the provided coupler (male type) Prepare female type coupler by yourself to connect the air @Adjustaent of cooling air flow for the cutting Open the hatch and confirm that there is a white Air controller on upper portion of the wheel cover. Adjust the air flow for drill grinding during automatic operation. Do not touch the wheel. If you touch it, you may get seriously injured. Loosen the black ring stop, then the white controller, the air flow increases for adjustment. When you get appropriate air flow, tighten the black ring stop and fix it. 144, Preparation for re-sharpening a drill @Adjustnent of point angle Loosen the point angle fixed lever on right side of the main body, Tf the handling of the clamp lover is not convenient ,pull down the lever to change the lever position, @® Turn the handle at right under at front side of the main body to set the point angle of the drill for horning. The angle should be fixed within a range from 118° to 140°, If the angle is not within the range, horning shape will be unstable. Tf the point angle is dislocated, the center of thinning may be dislocated by 0.01mn to 0.05mm. After adjusting the point angle, confirm the shape and adjust the angle again if necessary. @Pasten the point angle fixed lever. 15@Cchange of the Item screen Drill size Point angle Cutting edge detective Touch Prigis) on the touch panel Grinding speed and confirm origin, then main screen will appear. © To change the item, touch Change] to call each sereen for change. For grinding, touch [NTBR on each soreen for change, and the main screen will appear. If the main screen docs not appear when touching [ENTER] , grinding can not start 16
