2 Mention 2 reasons why laptops are more expensive than desktop computers with the same

3 Mention 3 characteristics of the 4th generation computers: (3mks)
-Used Very large scale integrated circuits
-Optical disks were introduced for data storage
-Graphical user interface operating system were introduced.
4 (i) Write the acronym UPS in full (1mk)
-Un interruptible power supply
(ii) Explain 2 uses of UPS (2mks)
-Provides power temporarily in the event of power failure
-Regulates the amount of power into the computer hence eliminating power surge and

21 State 2 the differences between desktop computers and laptop computers (2mks)

- Desktop is designed to be used when placed on a desk in an office

environment. A laptop can be used comfortably when placed on the User’s lap

- A laptop is small & portable; desktop computers are not portable

- Robots

- Mobile phones used for communication only

- Avoid smoking or exposing computers to dust

- Only authorized people should enter the computer room

- Computers users should be trained on how to use computers frequently

- Computer illiterates should not be allowed to operate the computers

- collect any waste papers which might be lying in the computer room & put them into

the dustbin

- Shut the door of the computer room properly

24 Explain the function of the following keys: (10mks)

(i) Tab key-Move the cursor a distance of 0.5 inch on the ruler to the right side.

(ii) Caps Lock key:Used when typing in capital letters

(iii) Shift key:Used to insert characters on top side of a key when pressed down

-When used with arrow keys you select

(iv) Control key(Ctrl)-Used in key combinations e.g ctrl +x= Cut

(v) Space bar-Put spaces while typing

(vi) Enter key:Used when moving to a new line

-Used to move downward in your document.

(vii) Backspace key:Used to erase characters on the left side of the cursor

-Used to move backward on your document

(viii) Home Key:Take the cursor to the beginning of the active line

(ix) End-Take the cursor to the end of the active line

(x) Delete key: Erases the characters on the right side of the cursor.
