( I ) CHECK THAT BULK SUPPLY INPUT IS 9% DC OR GREATER


( I I ) CHECK THAT THE “STOP” SIGNAL (WITH RESPECT TO f’-COM), LABELED
INTERCONNECTIONS BETWEEN BULK SUPPLY AND REGULATOR, IS A LOGIC
“ZERO” AND p28V-SUPPLY IS RUNNING INTO CURRENT LIMIT, IT WILL BOUNCE
BETWEEN *‘ZERD- AND APPROXIMATELY 2v DC. ALSO CHECK THE VOLTAGE
SIGNAL ACROSS THE CURRENT JACKS OF THE EPSY CARD AND COMPARE To THE
NCMINAL CURRENT LIMIT SIGNAL OF 1 .a DC.
(I I I ) IF THE TROUBLE IS Stl LL NOT DETERMINED, REMOVE POWER, ISOLATE THE
P28v LOAD, REAPPLY POWER AND CHECK FOR CORRECT BUS VOLTAGES. tF THE
BUSES ARE ST ILL LOW, JUMPER “STOP” TO “PCCfd”. I F THE @US VOLTAGES
ARE NUif CORRECT* EPSY IS SUSPECT. IF THE BUS VOLTAGES ARE ST I LL LOW,
BULK SUPPLY CARDS EPSU, EPSV ARE SUSPECT.
( IV) IF THE BUSES BECAME CORRECT WHEN THE P28’i LOAD IS ISOLATED, SUSPECT
p28v SUPPLY CURRENT LIMIT TROUBLE OR PRIMARY CURRENT LIMIT TROUBLE.
BUT P28v CURRENT LIMIT WAS CHECKED IN STEP (I I ). THEREFORE, PRIMARY
CURRENT THAT IS EPSU, IS SUSPECT (CHANGE OUT EPSU).

(E) SYMPTOM% EPSU LIGHT EMITTING DIODE “LED” IS ON; BULK SUPPLY WILL NORMALLY
BE SHUT DOWN, I .E. wi LL NOT BE MAKING A NolsE (HUM).

ACTI ON:

( I ) REMOVE POWER AND CHECK ALL POWER TRANSISTORS ON BULK SUPPLY HEAT
SINK HSI, HS2.
( I I ) IF TRANSLSTORS ARE CORRECT SUSPECT EPSU AND REPLACE.

(F) SYMPTOM: BULK SUPPLY NOT HUMMING, EPSU “LED” IS OFF , BUT INDICATING LIGHT,
DSI IS ON.

IF THIS VOLTAGE IS NOT PRESENT, SUSPECT BAD POWER TRANSISTOR OR
SOME OTHER LOW IMPEDANCE <PATH ON THE FRONT END. REMOVE POWER, I SOLATE

( IV) IF BATTERY VOLTAGE IS CORRECT ON CA , CB, CHECK FOR 51+VDC BETWEEN PINS
11, 51 IN THE EPSU SLOT.
( V) IF THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED TO THlS POINT, REMOVE PDWER,
PLUG IN NEW EPSU AND OLD EPSV CARDS AND CHECK SYSTEM. IF OPERAt’lON IS
STILL NOT CORRECT, REMOVE POWER REPLACE EPSV, AND TRY AGAIN.
