the current in a storage oscilloscope and the results are as per column III of Table-l.

b) Partial discharoe test:


The voltage across the arrester is raised to rated voltage and within 10sec it was reduced to a value
equal to 1.05 times the Maximum Continuous Voltage. At this measuring voltage the partial
' discharge is measured and is recorded in columnOperating
IV of T;ble -1.-

c) Liohtnino Imputse Residual voltaqe test:


The nominal dischar.ge current of 10kA is applied by adjusting the Impulse voltale generator to deliver
the specified current at the required wave shape of B/20Us, The residual voltage across the arrester is
measured through a voltage divider. The peak value of voltage is directly measured in the kV. The
measured value of voltage is recorded in column V of Table-1.

zinc coating test:


Th-e uniformity of zinc coating was determined by teiting the selected sample with
the micro tester at
different places and the observed values of coating thickness indicated the uniformity
(>B5pm) of Zinccoating.

e) Visual examinatio tion:

ii) All dimensions of the selected sample arresters are found to be within tolerances
as per the approved
drawings.
