I. Course Description
International Human Resource Management (IHRM) is about the worldwide management of
human resources. IHRM can be traced back to the growth of international business operations
and the development of multinational firms with their formal and informal approaches to
personnel administration and management. The purpose of this course is to provide the
students with knowledge and understanding of IHRM as well as the ability and skills to analyse
IHRM in contemporary firms.

II. Course Objectives


After participating in the course, students will be able to:
1. Define, explain and compare perspectives and theories related to IHRM
2. Make use of an in-depth understanding of research in IHRM to critically analyse
theories, perspectives, and practical problems facing contemporary firms
3. Systematically illustrate, define, categorize, and analyze a broad range of issues and
problems facing MNCs in their IHRM activities
4. Use concepts and tools for explaining and developing theories and methods which can
be integrated into practical applications of IHRM
5. Present, both in speech and writing, the impact of IHRM in MNCs
6. Discuss, critically reflect upon and evaluate ethical matters related to IHRM
