Method Statement Pressure Hose

The document provides guidelines for performing a hydrotest of pressure hoses at a customer's site. It outlines preparing the hose and test equipment, pressurizing the hose to 1.5 times its working pressure, monitoring it for 5 minutes for leaks, and issuing a test certificate if no leaks are found with the hose details, test readings, and engineer signatures.

METHOD STATEMENT

FOR HYDROTEST OF PRESSURE HOSE

Obje ctive

The objective of this method statement is to provide general guidelines for performing
hydro test for pressure hoses at customer’s premises.

Scope

Scope of this method statement covers the following topics.

 Preparation
 Test
 Test report information

Reference Procedure

 Phoenix Calibration Technical Manual- PCW-P02:2021.

Master Equipment

 Hydrotest Pump.

 Calibrated Pressure Gauge.

Preparation prior to Test

 Reach the test location accompanied by the site engineer or In-charge.

 Check the environment suitability to execute the testing process.

 Get the hose details from site engineer / In-charge.

Test

 Check the pressure hose physical condition and make sure it is free from
defects.
 Note the hose details like make, model, serial no., location, ID No., etc.
on the relevant worksheet.

 Prepare the hydro test pump and its setup to perform the test.
 Connect the pressure hose to the hydro test pump system.
 Determine the working pressure of the hose from its manufacturer’s
specification.
 Pressurize the hose by using the hydraulic pump upto 1.5 times of its
working pressure.
 Use the calibrated pressure gauge and monitor the pressure value.
 Upon the pressure gauge reading reaches its target pressure (1.5 times
of working pressure), stope pressurizing the pressure hose.
 Observe for any sign of leakage in the system.
 Monitor the constantly for any dropping of pressure for at least 5
minutes.
 If no leak is observed, release the pressure in the system and prepare for
tagging and certification.
