PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY 1

The photo above might be seen as the inclusion of LGBTQ2+ in the workplace,
without the discrepancies of difference towards them and equal rights for everyone. In
this new and modern world, we must say that some people are accepting LGBTQ2+
as part of the lives of others and the world we live in, but in some cases and
circumstances they are not excluded due to the social norms that may lend to violence
and discrimination. Exclusion also leads to inequality of opportunity and access to
resources. The LGBTQ2+ community is extremely diverse; it includes women, men,
people of color, and people of different generations and cultures. Even if they are
accepted by others, in the working world they still face discrimination and abuse in all
regions and all stages of the employment cycle: in hiring, advancement, training,
compensation, termination, and the implementation of benefits throughout. As a result
of these disparities, LGBTQ2+ people are forced to conceal their sexual orientation
and gender identity, which can lead to considerable anxiety and loss of productivity.
To make a difference in the inclusion of the LGBTQ2+ we must have an obligation by
starting building a culture of inclusion for them, by addressing that LGBTQ2+ needs
protections, and by promoting a safe working space for them. In an LGBTQ2+ inclusive
workplace, all employees are treated fairly and have equal access to career
opportunities, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

This is related to our subject THC006, as we study the different aspects of both
gender in the workplace, we must also include the diverse employee representation in
an organization. We must understand that although we may have different genders
and sexes, we are equal in human rights. This also affects us as a person on how we
value and have our manners to others. It is important to read and study the different
aspects that may lead to both gender gap, as we are working in the future to a diverse
world it is vital to have collate understanding of the difference we can make if we
include LGBTQ2+ in our workplace. We can allow a diverse employee representation
to have a positive effect on business results because it allows an organization to
effectively leverage all talent. Thence, an LGBTQ2+ inclusive workplace recognizes,
understands, and tackles the unique challenges that both LGBTQ2+ and both gender
face during work. This will help us students, to recognize cultural differences within the
organization, both by function and by the office, and challenges the workplace in the
future career, the norms of each of these cultures.
The photo above may be seen as a diverse workplace that is inclusive of all
colors, religions, races, and genders. For centuries, there are the exclusion of races
and religions in the field of work especially in the corporate world, there are
organizations that do not hire due to the race and religion of a person. They struggle
to gain value in the workplace which may lead to racism sometimes, especially if the
person is black or a Muslim as they are correlated to indifference toward others and
have their prejudice about a certain religion and color. We all know that racism, sexism,
homophobia, ableism, Islamophobia, and antisemitism exist, we’ve all lived the same
history. It’s just that those that experience it, are reminded daily in their workplaces, in
education, on the street, and at sports grounds. And those that don’t can forget about
it, and has been programmed into them by society and the archaic culture of racial
supremacy. And that is, to some extent, the core of privilege. Privilege is invisible to
those who have it and it will cut across minority groups too, but two wrongs don’t make
a right.

In recent years, workforce diversity has become a central role in organizational


life because of improved globalization and developing technology. Diversity by
definition is connected to various factors including age, culture, education, employee
status, physical appearance, family status, religion, regional origin, national origin,
thinking styles, race, and more. It was recognized that a diverse workforce could
deliver the organization’s competitive advantage as well as it could improve
organizational adaptability to any deviation in the marketplace. It is important to
understand that a diverse workforce can lead to many ideas and smart choices to
strategize something in the field. Throughout the world racism and bigotry continue to
be cancer that eats away at both companies and individuals. More dangerously,
however, is the mask of diversity with background racism still taking place within the
workplace. This creates fear and apprehension both among employees as well as with
senior management and causes an even bigger divide which ultimately hurts the
company. With open communication about the subject of race and an understanding
that it is still a problem. Open dialogue between all levels of the workplace is crucial to
taking this first step. To relieve these negative emotions, one must take precautions
before, during, and after these conversations are had.

This relates to our subject THC006, as we work in a diverse world, where we


will meet a lot of different races, religions, ages, and more. This will help us to be ready
in the manner and to value the difference of every person. We must study how to deal
with different perspectives and respect their opinions. We must put in our mind that
this is a new generation, and we must support the inclusion of others as it will create
a sense of belonging among co-workers in the future and also to students which can
translate to greater productivity, more innovation, and better decision-making. As we
take this subject, we students must understand and put to life the meaning of diversity,
equity, and inclusion in this field of work. This also equips students to acknowledge an
equal, and inclusive workplace that vanguard of resilience and recovery, that even if
they are students they will stimulate value, respect, fair treatment, and empowerment
through inclusive classroom practice or even in the organizations ‘practice, inclusive
organizational culture and inclusive leadership. In this way, we students will apply this
to have a transformational approach to diversity and inclusion that makes significant
contributions to overall performance in the present and future work.
