DEMONSTRATION LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 8

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define propaganda;
2. Identify the different propaganda techniques; and
3. Analyze the intention of words or expressions used in propaganda techniques.
Learning Competency
• EN8V-IIIg-26: Analyze intention of words or expressions used in propaganda techniques.
Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of: Southeast Asian literature as mirror to a shared
heritage; coping strategies in processing textual information strategies in examining features of a
listening and viewing material; structural analysis of words and propaganda techniques; and
grammatical signals for opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis.
Performance Standards:
The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering a persuasive speech based on an
informative essay featuring use of properly acknowledged information sources, grammatical signals
for opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis, and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

A. Preparatory Activities

2. Review:
Asking of question: Can you still remember how to examine author’s biases?
3. Motivation:
Showing of advertisement photos and asking the question: How well do you know these
slogans/tag lines?

How do these slogans influence your decision-making?


B. Developmental Activities

• What are the purposes of using propaganda?

2. Discussion:
To know the speaker’s or writer’s message in his propaganda, we need to know how to analyze
the intention of words or expressions he uses. How do we do it?

3. Among all the propaganda techniques, what technique you will be easily convinced? Why?

4. Application:
Directions: Identify what propaganda technique is being used in each number. Use another sheet
of paper for your answer.

2. Tender Juicy Hotdog’s “Kids Can Tell”.
3. Cream Silk conditioner can give hair a smooth and silky appearance.

6. Ordinary citizen testified the use of “Pangyawan Liniment” to be effective.

8. Everyone is wearing Uggs this year, so why aren’t you wearing them, too?

10. Coke is trying to compare the product with Pepsi to be cheaper and tasty.
