SCIENCE FORM 1
Theme: 1.0 scientific methodology
Learning area: 1. Introduction to scientific investigation
Content Standard: 1.5 density
Learning standard: 1.5.6 Innovate objects, food or beverage using concept of density
Objective:
To innovate of beverage using the concept of density
Assignment:
Some restaurants in Malaysia serve the “three-layer tea” drink in their menu. You can enjoy the
uniqueness of the palm sugar taste in fused into the tea. The evaporated milk blends well with the
palm sugar to provide a smooth milky creaminess to the drink.
Innovate a type of food using the concept of density that can be commercialised like three-
layer tea in the restaurant. You may use a simple menu card, video or power point presentation to
introduce your new menu. Your presentation must be interesting to attract people to try the menu.
INSTRUCTION
Week 1:
1. Pupils search the information from books, internet and variety sources about beverage using the
concept of density.
2. Pupils work in group and plan how to prepare this beverage using the concept of density.
Week 2:
1. Pupils work out the process to produce beverage using the concept of density.
2. Pupils are free to choose any ingredients to produce beverage using the concept of density.
3. Pupils present their projects. Use keywords (What/Why/How) to construct your own questions or
idea to present this project. Examples questions:
How do we create liquid of different densities?
Why liquids/solids form layers?
What if the glass shaken?
4. Each group must prepare a report in e-folio (Power Point/video) with the following format:
1.50 ml of tea, 2. 3. 4.
Evaporate milk
and honey is
measure
respectively.
i. Discussion
Relate with the concept of density.
- What is density?
- Which matter float or sink? Why?
- State the relationship between mass and density.
