1. There have been opposing views regarding historical facts and findings being made by many
historians. What do you think are the biggest problems or pressing issues that confront
historians and history writers in the writing of history? Name at least three and discuss your
answers.
We’re in digital age now, historians can easily fact check about our history that has been
preserve for a long time that will soon oppose their views after a thorough evaluation.
Historian can now identify which is true and which is disinformation and from the findings
they can debunk wrong information about our history. But historians and history writers
face challenges in the writing of history when they allow their biased viewpoints and
perspective, letting their personal experiences, and cultural backgrounds hampered their
work. Other challenges faced in the investigation was the credibility of the source. And you
should have the:
Source – it should be evident by the facts findings and it should be accurate.
Knowledge – we should research and have understanding of what was happened from the
past.
Objective – This should be true and correct with supporting evidence conduct a research
and ask the people concern.
For example, the code of calantiaw in the pre colonial penal code that defined penalties for
various crimes in pre-colonial. From the start this is what I know but recently I learned from
one of the speakers in our seminar that this is fake.
2. With reference to your answers in the previous item, what do you think are the implications of
these problems or issues in teaching history? How will you resolve these in the classroom?
The teachers biased viewpoints and perspective in teaching history may affect student’s
stance regarding historical facts. Teachers can manipulate and misinterpret events
according to their political and religious views and also their personal experience that may
distort the knowledge of history. As a social studies teacher, we can impart empathy
instead, that may help our students appreciate cultures, ideas, and traditions. In this
manner we can teach our students how to fall in love with history when there is an
authenticity of our teachings. Because at the end of the day students will investigate the
accuracy of what they learned from you and may invalidate your teaching.

3. Two of the distinguishing characteristics of historical facts are: (1) they possess scientific and
cultural value; and (2) they document events and people. When can we say historical data are
scientifically and culturally valuable? When can we say people and events are “of significance”?
4. Historical analysis is a complex activity to perform, and this can only be done if proper approach
is used. How important is historical method in writing history?
Historical method is important in writing history because you will consider the idea or topic
and you will conduct interview of people who are present at that time and research about
the issue. This is every important to come up with your historical analysis. This serves as
the guidelines and write history of the past. Also, it gives the historian skills in identifying
these sources, evaluating their relevance and combining their testimony in order to
construct accurate and reliable picture of past events.
5. Historians and archaeologists do play a crucial role in writing histories and in interpreting
historical data. When do we say historical facts and data are objectively evaluated or studied?
What are the attributes that they must possess? How will these effectively contribute to the
interpretation of historical data?
6. How will you explain the beauty of our history to a generation of Filipino of learners who lacks
proper, correct and sufficient understanding and appreciation of our past?
We can explain to them the beauty of history to the next generation of Filipino learners who
are lacks of proper, correct and sufficient understanding and appreciation of our past by
inviting or touring them in the national museum, where they can see all the evidence intact
in the national museum and we, as Filipino are very eager to learn see new things around.
This the most effective way to appreciate history. And one more asks them to watch
different videos related to history and the heroism of our leaders who fought our freedom
from the colonizer. They will appreciate it well by doing this.

8. Is teaching history in Philippine schools need more attention? Yes or no? Why?
Yes, because history did not include in the secondary level the Philippine History as
separate subject. May the next generation lack of knowledge about Heroism and
nationalism of our leaders. History is the study of the past events, how you may know what
is happened in the past is you did not study the history. If you study history, you may know
how to become effective leaders and what will you contribute in the society. Your
pamamaraan on how you run the government if you become a leader someday is that
effective? What is your bases to run the government if you don’t have any knowledge or
understanding of the past event? What if you became a president? This issue needs
attention of the concern DepEd officials to look into it.
