SCHOOL HISTORY
With faith and inspiration from the Blessed Virgin Mary, Nuestra Señora De Guia
Academy – East Rizal looks forward to serving the community and the country for years
to come.

School Objectives
1. Lead the child to experience his/her relationship to our Lord and fully understand
their role as human being.
2. Help each student understand, appreciate, and enhance his/her relationship with the
family.
3. Foster social consciousness by developing love of country through knowledge of its
history, culture, ideals, and needs, concern for the welfare and dignity of fellow
citizens, and respect for the law and duly constituted authorities.
4. Equip each student positive attitude towards the learning process and to acquire
mastery of the basic communications, scientific, and mathematical skills.
5. Enhance their talents and potentials by providing new venues for their discoveries
and nurturance.
6. Above all, to prepare the student for higher education integrating the development of
his/her intellectual and technological skills, capabilities, habits, and values that is
necessary to aid him to become a productive and critical member of the society.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Guidance and Counseling Office assists in the total growth and development
of the students through various programs that supports their understanding
personal/social development, establishing educational goals, developing career
direction.
PROGRAM BENEFITS
All stakeholders share the benefits of this manual. Guidance and Counseling
Office and its programs have a positive impact on students, parents, administrators,
teachers and staff.
• Ensures every student access to the Guidance and Counseling Office and
its program
The Guidance and Counseling Office program ensures that every student has
multiple opportunities to acquire competencies in the three (3) domains of Academic
Development, Career Development and Personal/Social Development. The resource
components and a combination of the four program delivery components (Guidance
Curriculum, Individual Student Planning, Responsive Services, and System Support)
should be utilized in assisting students to achieve these competencies.

2. Performs services in the other types of guidance such as personal, social and
moral guidance as the needs arise in the case of the counselee;
4. Schedules and plans all counseling interviews and integrates all phases of the
Guidance and Counseling services;

students in their personal, social and moral areas;

B. CONTENT COMPONENTS
a. GUIDANCE CURRICULUM
Guidance and Counseling Office Guidance Curriculum includes structured
experiences presented systematically through classroom and group activities from
kindergarten to graduating class. The curriculum emphasizes the decision making; self-
understanding; study skills; and career preparation and planning.
Individual Inventory: Pertains to the gathered data about the students which is
being kept during the duration of the student’s studies until his/her graduation. It
includes the following:
o Individual Inventory Form (IIF) - It consists of information on
personal, family, and educational data from birth to present of the
student.
o Cumulative Record - Information such as results of test in their
mental ability, interest, aptitude, achievement, personality traits.
o Counselor’s Notes - kept and serves as the key to the personal
counseling basis.
o Routine/Exit Interview
o Questionnaire/Survey
c. RESPONSIVE SERVICES
Crisis Counseling: Guidance and Counseling and support services are provided
to students and families facing emotional crises as outlined in the school crisis
management plan. Crisis counseling is normally short-term and temporary, using
appropriate referral sources if necessary.

The Guidance and Counseling Office is offering programs and activities that aim
to assist students in their school-related concerns such as academics, behavioural and
special needs. It provides structured activities to conduct goal-oriented counseling
sessions to meet identified needs in the students’ skill development.
The Guidance and Counseling Office involves working hand in hand with the
faculty members and parents/guardians with the objective of informing and providing
behavioural and academic care services in a confidential, caring, and respectful manner
to track their child’s academic and performance status through Parent-Teacher
Conference (PTC) that will be conducted every quarter.
One of the main goals of the Guidance and Counseling Office is to develop
helping relationships that focuses on the students’ growth and adjustment. It is
concerned with promoting understanding, awareness, and acceptance to oneself for the
student’s personal development. It helps students realize the importance of setting
goals and motivates them to set healthy and realistic goals that will direct their lives. It
provides nurturing environment that can help to aid them in coping with stress, grief and
other personal crisis for each student should be expected to be called for counseling
and interview at least once in a school year.
Aside from individual counseling, the Guidance and Counseling Office is also
conducting group counseling to increase awareness to the needs of others and improve
interpersonal relationships among them. This focuses on peer conflicts, relationship
concerns and cultural understanding. The guidance counselors ensure that all students,

The Guidance and Counseling Office helps facilitate seminars to high school
students that aim to assist them in their career decision-making from knowing their
abilities and potential, providing them information regarding the school, course and
requirements. Before entering school, the office ensures that the students are properly
oriented with the school’s services that Nuestra Senora de Guia Academy of Marikina,
Inc has to offer by providing proper and relevant orientation.
The office also serves as the link between the school and the parents by
providing relevant information about the career services, programs and activities of the
school. Through providing orientation and seminars to parents, the office will also be
able to discuss career developmental issues of their children.
With the intense drive to provide holistic development for the students and to give
opportunity for them to experience interaction among themselves and others, the
Guidance and Counseling Office prepares structured activities that are integrated into
classroom sessions (Guidance class) during the entire school year:
Grade 10 – “Decision-Making”
Effective decision-making and setting goals are one of the fundamental
components to long-term success. This activity helps students realize the
importance of decision-making and goals setting that will motivate them to set
healthy and realistic goals for them to be equipped in facing the future.

Testing Services
The counselors check, consolidates, and makes a profile of psychological test
that has been administered to the students.
Entrance exam
Administration of the Admission Test is one of the services provided to all
incoming students as part of their admission requirement in the school. As part
of the Guidance and Counseling Office, the guidance counselors/associate also
provide proper screening through conducting confidential and one-on-one
interview with the student.

On Confidentiality
• The guidance counselors at Guidance and Counseling Office are under ethical
and legal obligations not to release confidential information. Guidance
Counselors adhere strictly to confidentiality laws for their profession and can
only break confidentiality if the student gives direct written permission, or in
situations where someone's life is in danger or a minor is being abused or
neglected.
