What is Tragicomedy Play?


A play that blends elements of both tragedy and
comedy is known as a Tragicomedy.The remarkable
thing about a Tragicomedy is that it can make you
laugh and cry.A Tragicomedy might be a serious drama
interspersed with funny moments that periodically
lighten the mood,or a drama that has a happy ending.
Definition of Tragicomedy:-
Tragicomedy is a literary device used in fictional works.It contains both tragedy
and comedy.Mostly,the characters in tragicomedy are exaggerated,and sometimes
there might be a happy ending after a series of unfortunate events.It is incorporated
with jokes throught the story,just to lighten the tone.

reality,in which both extremes coexist often within the same moment.
ONE ACT PLAY
Definition:
A Dramatic composition that contains only one act.
A distinct feature of one act plays is that they are performed without disruption or intervals.A
one act play is usually shorter in duration than a full length multi-act play and man contain one or more
scenes within the act.

1.Realistic Play:
Characters speak in naturalistic,authentic dialogue without verse or poetic Stylings, and
acting is meant to emulate human behaviour in real life.
Example:Anton Chekhov- The Seagull
2.Problem Play:
Problem play,type of drama that developed in the 19th century to deal with controversial
social issues in a realistic manner,to expose social ills,and to stimulate thought and discussion on
the part of the audience.
3.Satire:
Satire is a genre of the visual,literary and performing arts.The use of homour,irony and
exaggeration in works of literature to ridicule and critique a person or socity.
4.Romance:
Romance or Romantic love is a feeling of love for,or a strong attraction towards another person,and
the courtship behaviour under taken by an individual to express those overall feelings and resultant emotions.
