Course Description

This course is intended to acquaint students with various research methods used in social
sciences in general and business studies in particular. It covers research processes, including
identifying and formulating a research problem, selecting and applying appropriate research
approaches and methods of inquiry, presenting results, and writing research reports.

This course contributes to the students’ professional competencies by giving training in the
analytic and research skills that can be applied to the solution of problems encountered in
their professional lives. It provides the necessary expertise in business research methodology.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:


a) choose appropriate research designs and methods for their own projects;
b) critically evaluate the work of other researchers;
c) analyze and present results from a variety of different types of research studies;
d) apply a range of research methods used in management/business and organizational
research;
e) analyze and report the results;
f) apply the ethical considerations relevant to business research.

Mode of Delivery

The teaching and learning methods to be used are lectures, discussions, critical evaluation of
research reports, reflections and presentations.
