The most efficient way to improve your vertical jump is to refine your jumping mechanics. Per-
fect jumping mechanics is one commonality that ALL of the great jumpers in the NBA have. Just
like any athletic skill it will take a lot of practice. Click the links to the videos below to learn the
most common jumping mistakes and how to fix them. You will need to film yourself jumping and
compare them to the videos below. Once you realize what you’re doing wrong, you will need to
practice frequently to master proper jumping mechanics so that they become second nature
when it’s game time!

Master Single Leg Jump Mechanics


The single leg takeoff is COMPLETELY different from a two-leg jump. There are many athletes
who are great jumpers off of two legs but can’t jump off of one foot. It’s important to master
jumping mechanics off of both one AND two legs in order to be a good in-game jumper. Below
are the crucial biomechanical changes you’ll need to make in order to instantly improve single
leg jumping ability.

It’s a good idea to record yourself jumping and compare it to the videos above to pinpoint where
you can improve. Also, viewing your jumping mechanics in slow motion can be very beneficial in

chanics and you will be amazed with how big of a difference it makes to your overall jumping
ability!
