Fairy Tale Research Project
Fairy Tale Research Project
Each child will choose a fairy tale character and answer the following questions about their character in
both an oral speech AND a written report.
Speech
Your child should have a speech prepared, answering questions 1-7. (Students should not re-tell their
fairy tale story.) Students may use notecards during their speech. You can place important words,
pictures, and key points on each notecard, but do not write out the entire speech. They should be able
to speak freely and answer any questions at the end of the speech. Have students practice in front of
different people at home to boost their self-confidence. Practice, practice, practice!
Written Report
Students need to answer questions 1-7 in complete sentences. Your child can dictate the information to
you and you can write it down or type it, or you can have your child print it themselves. Make sure that
there is a cover with pictures/decorations and additional pictures throughout the report. Pictures can be
found in books, online, or drawn by hand. Remember we are teaching them what a finished product
should look like. Encourage your student to take pride in what his/her work looks like.
Creative Portion
On your child’s assigned presentation date he/she will dress up as their fairy tale character. Try to create
a costume from items at home. Teachers are NOT expecting parents to buy a costume. Be creative with
what you have at home.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send a note or e-mail the classroom teacher.
