GUITAR: Acoustic tuned to DADBGD. The player will choose to pluck, strum, pick,
hammer on/ off, glissando, or any technique to create a background for the saxophone.
Following the order in the provided list, play the string and fret described, changing the notes at
will from the previous cluster, adding them one at a time, or all together. Open strings can be
played at will. The rhythm can be in time or out, and each cluster should be handled with
intuition and freedom. Once the feeling arises that it would be interesting or beneficial to move
on to the next cluster, vamp on a single idea, wait for the signal from the sax, who will stop
playing. At the end of the final section, slowly fade out, matching the decrescendo of the sax,
and once your sound is no longer audible, stop playing.

SAXOPHONE: Allow a few seconds to get a feel for the cluster, then drawing from intuition,
choose one image from the two in each row to improvise over, and give a melodic description
of the scene according to your own taste and interpretation. When you feel you’ve exhausted
the scene, and hear the guitar starting to vamp, fade out and stop playing. Repeat the process
up the final image, then slowly fade out with the guitar player, and once your sound is no
longer audible, stop playing.
