SUBJECT : School-based deworming program status for 2023

DATE : 05 October 2023

This is with regards to the status of the bi-annual deworming activity for school-aged
children for the current year 2023. Based on the Department of Health Devolution
Transition Plan (DTP) 2022-2024, the provision of Albendazole for the Integrated
Helminth Control Program shall be devolved to Local Government Units
(Provincial/City/Municipal) by the current year 2023. However, due to the steep
limitation of funds secondary to the decreased National Tax Allotment, no Local
Government Unit in the province was able to procure the said commodity, hence the
non-availability of the drug for the current year.

Rest assured that we are securing the allocation for the said program for the coming
year 2024 in coordination with city/municipal LGUs in order to ensure the continuity
of the health program for the benefit of our school children.
