TREASURED HOME
Let’s me start with the first art and culture of Pahang that I like to talk is about
Pahang dialect. Pahang dialect is unique. Generally, there are 3 kinds of dialects
that are popular throughout Pahang. The first one is Temerloh dialect. “Aok” means
“You”, and “Koi” means ”I”. Let’s make it into a dialogue. “Aok buat mende ter? What
are you doing? Koi duduk cegat je ni. I just sit still”. Temerloh dialect is a little bit
slow and sluggish in term of its intonation but for me its still can be comprehensible.
The second one is Lipis dialect. Its almost the same as Temerloh dialect. Maybe a
little bit more sluggish. Third is Kuantan dialect. I save the best for the last. Kuantan
is kind of mix with Terengganu dialect especially parts that are close to
Terengganu’s border like Beserah and Balok area.
Now, let’s talk about music. I’m not really into Pahang traditional music, but
they are still among one of a kind. Do you know lemak manis song which is
repopularised by Haziq Rosebi? The original song is actually sung by Roslan Madun
and it is very popular in Pahang since the 1980s. Pahang is also known for Special
music instruments such as Gendang Pahang, and Gamelan Pahang. Gamelan
music often being played during Joget Pahang whereas Gendang Pahang is usually
being played during Wedding ceremony and royal ceremony.
Pahang foods are top of the line. People from all over places and states come
to Pahang to eat. One of them is the special Patin tempoyak. But why is it only
popular in Pahang? Some people said that Pahang river is the main cause. The
water of Pahang river acts as a catalyst to make it tastes more delicious. Royal
pudding isn’t too bad as well. It’s the best dessert and specifically popular in Pekan,
Pahang. It’s my favourite! Next, is Sambal Hitam Pahang. Sambal Hitam tastes so
good. The black color of this sambal actually originates from a fruit, called ‘belimbing
buluh,’. Other popular Pahang foods are Sambal Tempoyak, Gulai siput Asam rong,
Kerutuk Beef and Opor Beef. Hence, these are my favourites Pahang delicacies.
Thank You.
