I. Electrical Part of the Workshop
1. Scope of work
Electrical workshop provides a platform for all kind of practical jobs like domestic
wiring, fittings, drilling job, switchboard assembly, coil winding, repair and maintenance
work of various electrical appliances.

The scope of work to be done in the electrical workshop are:

1.1 Switch board and Control panel assembly which is applicable for different types of Motor
starting and control system, Automatic Transfer switch for Generator, and other panels used
for monitoring and control of the various functions of machinery.

1.2 Electrical motor rewinding and Overall maintenance includes:


 Collection from site
 Inspect and record all relevant data from the nameplate
 Carry out electrical and mechanical check tests to verify motor condition and any
reported faults, where possible
 Dismantle motor
 repairing or replacing the windings inside an electric motor and
 Clean and inspect all component parts
 Datum checks, including bearing journals and seating’s, shaft extensions, shaft extension
run out, shaft seal fits, commutator diameter, and brush surface length
 Repair or replacement of defect components and parts
 Steam cleaning, stove drying and varnishing of stator and rotor windings
 Testing after completing maintenance and
 Delivery service to customer site and recommissioning

1.3 AC and Refrigrator installation and Maintenace


includes Consulting the proper type and size of air conditioner to be purchased and
mounted, installation and maintenace as well as maintenace of refrigerator.

1.4 Generator Maintenace


General maintenance of Diesel generators for small and medium sizes in the workshop and delivery
maintenance for any size of Generator.

The equipment listed in this section constitutes the basic requirements for equipment used in
the electrical workshop.
2.1.1 Rewinding Machine

2.2.5 Phase Sequence Indicator
Digital Type; complete with leads, safety prods and rubber holster
2.2.6 Multi-Range Meter
Ranges: 0-1000 V (ac)/(dc), 0-10 A (ac)/(dc) 0-30 MΩ 30 nF - 30 µF
2.2.7 Clamp-on meter
Digital type, complete with test leads
Range: 0-600 V, 0-1000 A, 0-10 kΩ, 10-300 (TRMS) Hz,
2.2.8 Stator and armature tester
(for motor repairs performance) Armature tester (growler). Tests stator and rotor
windings indicating shorted turns visually and audibly. Maximum width of
armature slot 19 mm, minimum width of lamination package 30 mm. Probe head
diameter 41.5 mm
2.2.9 Hand tachometer
Universal type, digital display, battery-operated
2.3 General Tools
2.3.1 Compression tool
Cable lugs/connectors, hand-operated: Type: CTI 6S (0.5 to 6 mm2), MTR 35 (6 -
35 mm2)
Cable lugs and connectors, hydraulic type, hand/foot operated, with adapter and
indenters. Range: 35-70 mm2, 95-240 mm2 with crimping dies.
2.4 General Tools (typical)
2.4.1 Set of screwdrivers, insulated type up to 1000 V (ac) and 1500 V (dc), slotted and
Phillips recess screw type.
2.4.2 Off-set screwdriver.
2.4.3 Pliers: insulated type up to 1000 V (ac) and 1500 V (dc), combination, long nose,
pointed nose; side cutter, wire stripper.
2.4.4 Set of metric spanners, (6 mm x 7 mm) to (16 mm x17 mm).
2.4.5 Set of metric socket Snap-On tools, (6 mm x 7 mm) to (20 mm x 22 mm), including
ratchet and extension bars.
2.4.6 Adjustable wrenches, 150 mm, 200 mm, 300 mm.
2.4.7 Set of Allen keys
2.4.8 Files (round, flat and set of needle files).
2.4.9 Junior hacksaw, cable-stripping tool, 250 g hammer, pocket ruler.
2.4.10 Vacuum pump (for AC and refrigerator)
2.4.11 Gauge manifold (for AC and Refrigerator)
2.4.12 Oxygen welding cylinder (for AC and Refrigerator)
II. Mechanical Part of the workshop
Mechanical workshops are used to make and assemble components and parts that are used in a
variety of industries. They are places where mechanical tasks such as welding, drilling and
cutting take place. Some heavy-duty pieces of machinery can be found in them which include
lathes, milling machines, pillar drills and grinders.

In Mechanical workshop generally tasks such as fitting, carpentry, welding and metal works
as well as maintenance of pumps, compressors, blowers, and other equipment used in
industries are takes place. And also Manufacturing of various fittings as per customer
requirement.

The main scope of works by the Mechanical work shop are:

 Maintenance of Pumps, Compressors, and other mechanical equipment


 Welding and fitting works of pipes for water supply, firefighting, and other fluid line
system both in workshop and outside
 HVAC (heating or cooling systems), refrigeration, piping, and plumbing of a building
