SKILL-
Learning digraphs.

PREP-

Print the activity on cardstock and laminate for extra durability. Then, cut al ong the lines to divide the
pieces.

For the Word Hunt activity, print off one record sheet for each student.

PLAY-

Digraph Sort—
Students organi ze the digraph cards in a line on the table
and spread out the i ma ge cards. Students take turns
choosing an i ma ge, saying its name, and deciding under
which digraph card the picture should be sorted.

For example, i f a student picks up the shell, he or she would


say, “shell…/sh/” and place it under the “sh” digraph card.

Word Hunt—
Teachers take one word from each digraph and hide it
around the room. Students take their Word Hunt record
sheets and try to find the hidden digraphs around the room
Once found, students write the digraph word in the
appropriate spot.
