They have acquired an electric piano and conducted research on different piano types and their sounds. They have also learned the differences between keys, notes, and chords. So far, they have learned to play the first six notes of "Happy Birthday" and find any basic note using "Middle C", though they struggle with finger placement due to a lack of a keyboard stand. Over the next week, they hope to learn the full "Happy Birthday" song without sheet music and possibly a simple song using chords. Over the next two weeks, they aim to master beginner skills from online tutorials while

Blog Post #2 Questions:

1) What have I accomplished so far? (Give specific details. Include the research you
have done to date. Include sources of information you have used for research,
people you have spoken to, videos you have watched, books you are reading, etc.)

Got a piano! It is a “FingerDance” piano with 88 weighted keys. I have done plenty of
research from the “Pianote” website and YouTube channel. I learnt about the
different types of pianos and the sounds they make; an electric piano and grand
piano have very different tones and a church organ is basically an entirely different
instrument. I have also finally understood the difference between keys, notes and
chords. Chords are combinations of notes, notes are individual sounds and keys are
literally the keys on the piano.

2) What have I learned? Give specific examples of your learning, whether is has been
positive or negative. Some of our best learning comes from our struggles.)

So far, I have learned how to play the first 6 notes of “Happy Birthday” and how to
find any basic note on the piano using “Middle C.” I am struggling with the finger
placement so far as I don’t yet have a stand for my keyboard, so my posture is
incorrect but hopefully I will be acquiring a keyboard stand within the next week or
so. I am following Pianote’s videos for beginners and a “Happy Birthday” tutorial to
learn these skills.

3) What still needs to be done? (Create a specific list of objectives/tasks you want to
accomplish over the next two weeks. Be detailed and realistic.)

Over the next week, I hope to learn the whole of “Happy Birthday” and play it without
reading the music, then possibly move onto a simple song that I can practice playing
chords with. Over the next two weeks, I hope to “master” the skills in Pianote’s video
for beginners, I am giving myself a large amount of leeway as I will be camping all
weekend. I may start also practicing the chords in “Idle Town” without any rhyme or
reason to start getting comfortable with the specific finger placement.
