Design Pickle MGA Test Preparation
Design Pickle MGA Test Preparation
prepare you for the next stage! A test where we’ll assess
the process, which is the skill test! Before taking the test,
Brief summary
This test consists on one request for which you will have 48 hours to
complete - If you finish beforehand, awesome! If you take more time,
that’s totally fine! We still want to see what you’ll come up with.
The request will include the client’s brief, where you’ll find the
instructions for the project and the ideal design time. The request is
patterned to what our current creatives handle on a daily basis.
Please make sure to read the instructions carefully before submitting
your files!
Criteria
With your initial application we will assess your design skills with the portfolio submitted, as well as your
communications skills. You must be a super chill and talented creative! But we need to be sure you have
what it takes in terms of visual hierarchy, style, font use, turnaround time, attention to details, and other areas
that will give us a better insight into your overall capacities as a designer!
1. WHAT’S
THE
SKILL TEST?
Disclaimer
We want you to be super creative and to
make your results to look as amazing as
they can! So please remember that these
designs are not for real clients! The designs
requested in the skill test were created
Make Relish in Partnership with Design
Pickle to test your skills and therefore we
will not use the designs you created for any
other purpose. After all is said and done,
your designs will become part of our
archive, not to be seen by anyone ever
again, at least outside our team!
Knowing how to take a screenshot may be one of the most basic things when it comes to using a computer,
right? But still there are different ways to take them depending on your preference, and of course, the
operation system at hand.
These are a few options, but feel free to use your favorite! Just make sure to get it right and make your test go
smoother.

5 Be resourceful
Get a head start by looking for free vector and images resources just in case you’ll be needing
them. We don’t allow the use of Vecteezy, Freepik, Flaticon, and other free resources with
attribution required. We do have our own library but they are for our creatives’ use only. Just
stick to the free for commercial ones and you’ll be fine!
2. Read all the provided information and instructions, and make all assets ready and available before
starting to make the video.
3. Draw out what you want to be done first before applying it to the video.
5. Do not overcomplicate things. As long as your video embodies the message you want to tell, then
there’s no need to complicate it.
6. This is a personal preference, but try to look for background music first. You can look for several
tracks to use and plot it out with the voice over (if there’s any) and from there, follow a specific beat
on that track.
7. Use plug-ins that are going to help you speed up work. But make sure that when somebody else
opens your project file, they can still see the effects you made from that plug-in.
8. When working on multiple projects, you can edit them all out first, and then use Media Encoder to
render them out all at once. This can also help when you are rendering multiple file sizes.
9. If a video takes a lot of space, and is taking a lot of time rendering as a whole, render it by part, and
then stitch them up in Premiere Pro. Has a bit of going back and forth, but it is a good way to spot
errors and lagging.
10. Make sure that ALL the assets and project files used in a video are inside the SAME folder. Name all
your files and folders PROPERLY, so it is easy to locate and sync files.
