natural resources.
UNIT-III ECOSYSTEMS 6
Concept of an Ecosystem, Structure and Functions of an Ecosystem, Energy Flow, Producers, Consumers and
decomposers, Ecological Succession, Food Chains and Ecological Pyramids, Characteristics of different types of
Ecosystems.
UNIT-IV BIODIVERSITY AND ITS CONSERVATION 6
Introduction of Ecosystem diversity, Biogeographical classification of India, Value of Biodiversity, Biodiversity of
global, national and local levels, Hot-spots of Biodiversity, Threats to Biodiversity, Conservation of Biodiversity.
UNIT-V ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND SOCIAL ISSUES 6
Causes, Effects and Control measures of Air Pollution, Water Pollution, Soil Pollution, Marine Pollution, Noise
Pollution, Thermal and Nuclear Pollution, Solid Waste Management, From unsustainable to sustainable development,
Environmental Protection Act.
