2. Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) – it is the death of a child under 1 year of age. It has
come down from 147 in 1951 to 40 in 2013. Reduction in Infant Mortality involves
the protection of children from infection, ensuring nutrition along with mother and
child care.
3. Birth Rate And Death Rate – Birth rate is defined as the number of babies born for
every 1000 person in a year. Death rate is defined as the number of people per 1000
who die in a year. Birth rate has dropped to 22.1 & Death rate to 7 within the same
duration of time.
