SWALLOW’S JOURNEY

At last, I have arrived in England! I left South Africa in March with my family and friends. My journey was
longer and more difficult than last year. I flew for six weeks and by flying around 200km every day, I
managed to finish my journey of nearly 10,000km.

There were many dangers on my journey. In Morocco, I was nearly eaten by an eagle and in France, I got
trapped in some wires and almost died. The worst part was crossing the Sahara in North Africa. I watched
many of my friends die from tiredness and a lack of food. After successfully crossing the desert, I stopped in
Spain to recover my strength and rest my wings. In the last week of April, I flew across France and into
England.

Today, my wife and I are repairing our old nest. Over the winter it developed many holes and we want it to
be in perfect condition for our first eggs. Life is good, the sun is shining and the air is full of insects. It is the
perfect place to start a new family.
