Output Characteristics

If the transmission distance is over 100m, please add one 120Ω terminal matching
resistance on the front end and back end of bus interface respectively. See appendix
for communication protocol.

This product is warranted to be free of defects in materials and construction for a


period of 12 months from date of lead time.

Communication Protocol (Modbus RTU)

The transferred bytes are interpreted according to the Modbus specification


(http://www.modbus.org/). The sensor represents a Modbus slave here.

Data transfer takes place in packets known as frames, max. 256 bytes in size. Each
packet contains a 16bit CRC checksum (Initial value: 0xffff).

The following MODBUS functions are supported:


0x03 (Read Holding Registers).
0x06 (Write Holding Registers).

Communication parameters (factory default):

Baud rate: 9600bps, Data bits: 8, Stop bit: 1, Check bit: None
Slave address: the factory default is 1

Supported Bus Protocol

Baud rate: 1200, 2400, 9600, 19200


Parity: None
Stop Bit: 1

For setting the bus protocol parameter the sensor offers the function code 0x06 of
the MODBUS protocol. Alternative you can use the free software tool VT-300
configurator for setting the bus parameter and testing the communication.

The Sensors will start MODBUS operation 4 seconds after power up.
