GUEST RESIDENCE ACCOMMODATION JANUARY 2024

November 2022
• All rooms in junior residences must be completely vacated on Sunday 26 November
2023 at 10h00, with the exception of the following students with academic
obligations:

Nursing students
Medical students

• The above-mentioned students will be accommodated in Harmony Residence until


13 December 2023. Please note that Harmony will close on 10 December at
10h00. No guest residence will be available after 13 December 2023. Students
remaining after this date will need to make alternative arrangements.
• Any other students requiring accommodation during the above period due to official
UFS obligations will need to apply. Please note R90.00 per day will be charged to
the student account.
• The above-mentioned students who will be staying during this period MUST apply for
accommodation no later than 17 November 2023. The application form is available

The completed form must be emailed to resapplications@ufs.ac.za along with proof
of academic obligation.
No late applications will be accepted.
• Assistance with transport will be provided accordingly.

VACATING OF ROOMS: END OF YEAR RECESS

• All rooms to be completely evacuated, including cupboards and all equipment (i.e.
fridges etc.).
• STUDENTS TO HAND IN ROOM KEYS PRIOR TO LEAVING. FAILURE TO HAND
IN KEYS WILL RESULT IN BEING CHARGED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LOCK
AND KEY.

• As per the terms and conditions of the accommodation contract, personal belongings
are left at own risk. The UFS and/or HRA will not be held liable for any loss or
damage.

UPGRADING/MAINTENANCE WORK NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2023


• Residences due for upgrading will be notified accordingly

GUEST ACCOMMODATION: JANUARY 2024

• Due to academic obligations, the following students (who was successful with the
renewal of accommodation for 2024) will be accommodated in Ardour in January
2024
o 4th and 5th year MBChB (from 7 January 2024)
o 3rd and 4th year School of Health and Rehabilitation Science
o 3rd and 2nd year MBChB (from 14 January 2024)
• Residence Committee Members will be allowed to return to their respective
residences from 27 January 2024.
• Those students residing in Ardour will be allowed to move back to their own
respective residences on 27 January 2024
• Due to registration being online and face-to-face, senior students who was
successful with their renewal of accommodation for 2024, will be allowed to
move into their respective residences from 28 January 2024.

FUMIGATION

• All residences will be fumigated during December 2023/January 2024. The


schedule will be shared with all residences.
• No people, pets or food will be allowed in the residence during the process.

As per the terms and conditions of the accommodation contract, personal belongings

Please note that no student will be allowed back in residence
