applications in which you need to ensure a specific order of tasks or operations. One of the classic
examples is scheduling courses in a university, where prerequisites must be satisfied before taking a
course.

The algorithm can be described using a depth-first search (DFS) approach. Here is a high-level
description:

1. Start with a DAG as input.

2. Initialize an empty list (or stack) to store the topological ordering and an empty set (or list) to
keep track of visited nodes.

3. Begin by selecting any unvisited node in the graph.

4. Perform a depth-first search starting from the selected node, and as you visit each node, mark it as
visited.

5. When you complete the DFS for a node, add it to the topological ordering list (or stack). The
nodes are added in reverse order from when the DFS visit finishes, which ensures that the
dependencies come before the dependent nodes.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 for all unvisited nodes until you've visited all nodes in the graph.

7. The resulting list (or stack) of nodes is a topological ordering of the DAG.

Consider the following DAG, where each node represents a task, and the directed edges represent task
dependencies:

5. Complete the DFS for 'A' and add 'A' to the topological ordering.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 for unvisited nodes, choosing 'B' next.

7. Continue this process until all nodes are visited. The topological ordering for this example is: [A,
B, C, D, E, F]

This ordering respects the dependencies, ensuring that no task comes before its prerequisites. You can
apply topological sorting to various real-world problems, like project scheduling, build systems, and
more, where maintaining a correct order of tasks is essential.

order of their weights while ensuring that no cycles are created. It maintains a forest of trees, initially
consisting of single vertices, and repeatedly adds the smallest edge to connect two components in the
forest.

Here's a high-level description:

Sort all edges in the graph by their weights in ascending order.

Initialize an empty MST.


For each edge in the sorted list:
a. If adding the edge does not create a cycle in the MST, add it.

Example:

2. Initialize an empty MST.

3. Add the smallest edge (A, B, 2) to the MST. MST: {(A, B, 2)}

5. Add the next smallest edge (B, C, 3) to the MST. MST: {(A, B, 2), (A, D, 3), (B, C, 3)}

The final MST is the same as in Prim's algorithm: {(A, B, 2), (A, D, 3), (B, C, 3)}

Differences:
