Instructions: Look at the pictures below, then analyze them by answering the following questions:
a. What do you see in the picture? What do you think happened?
b. How do you feel about the picture?

Write your answers every after picture.

Answer:

a. What do you see in the picture? What do you think happened?

Based on the image above, it shows that the muddy water from the overflowed river caused
houses, establishments, and cars to flood. As far as I know, this is due to the high level of water in a stream
that filled the river and burst into land areas. The most common cause of river overflow is excessive rainfall.
Normally, rainfall is inevitable; however, it becomes more vigorous as time goes by each year. In my
perspective, all of this resulted from the changes in climate, which were also due to human activities.
Climate change gradually increases not just the severity of precipitation but the temperature as well. Lastly,
the patterns of the seasons have changed with their longevity.

b. How do you feel about the picture?

As a person who lived near the river with experienced worst than this, I can empathize with the
victims of the flood. The destruction it caused to their livings and the fear they felt for their safety is quite
hard. What makes me sad is we are aware of climate change, it is discussed everywhere, especially in
school as a Global Issue. However, we never learned and we keep the situation worst with our inappropriate
actions.
Answer:

a. What do you see in the picture? What do you think happened?

As I observed in the image, it shows plastics, bottles, styrofoam, and other garbage dumped on
the river, which is mostly floating and scattered. The image is one of the examples of water pollution where
garbage makes the water unclean. Without a doubt, human activities, carelessness, lack of discipline, and
lack of infrastructure are to be censured. For instance, people, especially those who live in the area, will
just dump their waste since there's no available trash can there, and some businesses may dump their
waste as well illegally to avoid proper disposal costs.

b. How do you feel about the picture?

What I feel about the image is more disappointment than sadness. People have the ability to throw
garbage responsibly; however, a lot of us choose not to. Besides that, to relate to the first image, dumping
garbage can result in overflowing rivers and can increase flooding events in some areas. When that
happens, since the water is already polluted, diseases like leptospirosis, typhoid fever, and cholera can
arise. Not just humans, but aquatic animals are more affected because, based on my research, waste like
plastics degrades into water and releases toxics that are harmful to them. Moreover, this issue is not just
an environmental hazard but a health hazard as well. To conclude, it's heartbreaking to think that humans
are not the only living thing in this world, but others suffer unnoticed because of our actions. We are made
to protect them, not harm them.
Answer:

a. What do you see in the picture? What do you think happened?

From what I observed in the image, there’s a huge formation of smog discharged from tall funnels
and going upwards. According to my knowledge, this is industrial smoke produced by factories, which is a
type of air pollution. Usually, factories burn fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas to generate energy,
which then releases smoke. However, this smoke is harmful and can be bad for the environment and our
health. I’ve seen articles on Google Scholar, and studies say that industrial factories are responsible for
greenhouse emissions, one of the factors in the depletion of the ozone layer. In addition to that, it can
increase the incidence of various respiratory and cardiovascular diseases in people. To conclude, as
production industries increase, air pollution can rapidly destroy the world.

b. How do you feel about the picture?

I have positive and negative feelings about the image. First, I feel happy for the advancement of
industrialization. It helps the laborers by making their work easy; it helps in producing more products for a
short time at a lower cost; and it benefits people with the manufactured products. However, the negative
feeling is due to its disadvantages. As I mentioned earlier, with the development and advancement of
industries, environmental issues like climate change will just worsen and can be irreversible if not taken
into action. Despite that, my hope is alive after I learned that the ozone layer is healing itself, which is
good news for the world.
Answer:

a. What do you see in the picture? What do you think happened?

The image contains a large number of cut-down trees in the mountains. What happened is a type
of deforestation, which is the clearing of forest for human development. Some of its purposes are to provide
raw materials for production and to make agricultural croplands. Although it’s in favor of human
development, on the contrary, it’s a destruction to all of us.

The effect of deforestation on the world is still occurring. For instance, by cutting down trees,
nothing will absorb the carbon dioxide, which then contributes to climate change, especially in the seasonal
patterns of weather. In the same manner, it can lead to soil erosion, landslides, flooding, air pollution, etc.
Besides that, many types of animals rely on trees for food and habitat; hence, problems in biodiversity can
occur as well. Deforestation is just like the other global issue with advantages, but has more disadvantages.

b. How do you feel about the picture?

The image made me feel a lot of negative emotions, like sadness and guilt. First, I am sad for the
animals who lost their habitats, their families, and their source of food. Animals have feelings too, and I
can’t imagine how or what pain they have felt during those times. Other than that, I also feel guilty because
I used to waste a lot of paper when I was a kid, which is a product made from trees.

The usefulness of trees is beyond doubt, which amazes me, and I think we cannot prevent
deforestation but instead minimize it. Hence, I am also hopeful that we can plant more trees.
Answer:

a. What do you see in the picture? What do you think happened?

There’s a waddle of penguins shown in the image. They seem grievous, and most of them are
covered with dirt. Based on my observations, it is the rising temperature that causes the sea ice to melt,
which is the habitat of penguins and some animals. To visualize, the images above, especially the 2nd and
4th, are some of the causes of climate change, and the 1st and last image shows the effects of them. To
conclude, humans are the enemies of animals and humans themselves.

b. How do you feel about the picture?

It’s heartbreaking to see these innocent animals, who did nothing but suffer because of our actions.
They are driven to adapt just to find food and fit in the shelter they’re not used to for survival. In addition
to that, most people are not aware of this because they usually don’t see this kind of scenario. If they do,
I hope they will care, because sometimes humanity feels like it doesn’t exist anymore. On the contrary, I
believe that humans are smart enough to understand what’s happening in this world and that we could
find solutions to these matters. When that happens, I will be the happiest person in the world and will
declare in my mind that humanity is restored and the earth is reborn.
